Its good to capture this. Just like my home town of Oldham the shopping scene is a shadow of itself. Every space used to be full and always busy. Who remembers when shops were closed on a Sunday? lol

Only been used in one scripted film or TV production as far I know, which was a brief shot of *Ruta Gedmintas* (if I remember correctly) going up the escalator in the centre of the shopping centre, in an episode of *Spooks: Code 9* (2008). If it's been used in any more productions, I will no doubt find out eventually.

Having lived up on the longlands in bradford and when i worked at CEX post relocating down to broadway i always used to come to here for the cafes in the top market halls, always ran and served by older ladies and some of the last true caff cafes where food and everything was fresh.. it was beautiful and i shall miss it greatly

We have been in here, many years ago now. Inside it actually looks very clean, bright and modern. Very much a shame. Hope they keep the original market stone and plaque.

How can we call our Bradford a city centre if they keep knocking buildings down. All there is in Bradford now is the very expensive Broadway. Bring back the Bradford City Centre of the 70s and 80s. Re kirkgate...I loved the fountain and seing if we could get any of the pennies without falling in

I used to work at the Clarks on Kirkgate and liked popping into one of the market cafes on my lunch breaks. I don't live in Bradford anymore but I sometimes go there to visit family, and we went to Kirkgate a few months ago - so sad to see how it (and top town) has just deteriorated. Can't wait to see what they build on that site. I hope the new Darley St market can liven up that area a bit.

I am surprised that security didn’t stop you filming. A few years ago I recorded in there the Christmas displays and was told that it wasn’t allowed without written permission of the management. Not sure why as it wasn’t as if I was causing issue but I guess it is private land.

So sad to see.Unfortunately it's the same story all around the Country now. The rents are too high, car parking charges are ridiculous and people either shop online or out of town at retail parks. It's such a shame because as each shop leaves the area nobody wants to shop there anymore. It looks like a ghost town , memories of a whole community are all that are left.😞

Haven’t been in over 30 years. Bradford has declined. Ugly centre. Used to be the lovely Kirkgate market. Says everything in a city centre they are building houses which means no one wants to invest in anything commercial any more.

Bradford is a state now,we nip in if and when we need something that's it. My parents say Bradford used to be the place to go In the 60's/70's for shopping and a night out.
@fluffymacfly340515 сағат бұрын
The old kirkgate was lovely. Current building is a brutalist carbuncle. Build 4/5 bed houses in a city centre!!@@ its s city centre! should have a supermarket area like an aldi Hinds sad to see going . Rember hippo. Used to love christmas. Littlewwmoods great. Broadway travesty marks sparks went. Replaced a lot by eastern bazaar type shops.

Me and my family would go there every single year. It was a staple in the community and every time me and all my cuzans would come home with a brand new plastic swords and shields to fight each other in the back garden. It lowkey broke my heart when this place closed down. Thanks for the video.

I was an employee in 2001 I think it was at Camelot - I worked in the food tent place! There was a 'Southern Fried Chicken' a Chippy, and a Wimpy! I worked in both the chippy and thei chicken place.... And the rollover hotdog stand which was just opposite the jousting place. I remember taking up the left over chicken to the maintainance crew who worked around back at the end of the day. One of them (Harry?) was struck by the Tower of Terror and killed. I remember the day clearly.

When the London Eye opened in the year 2000, tickets cost £7.45 for adults, £5.95 for senior citizens, and £4.95 for children, with under-5s going free. If you pre-book today, Adult prices are £29, but if you buy at the Eye on the day it is £42. I was lucky enough to try it early on. I would never pay £29 let alone £42! According to an inflation calculator, if the price rose by CPI every year the price today would be £14. I used to take the family to London for the day and have fun visiting many attractions, my kids cannot evenafford to travel to London let alone visit attractions.

Ah my home town, flats where we lived just as you describe Queensbury tunnel, my dad was first caretaker in Delph house, the right hand block, in 1963, now they've been renamed as often happens with the high rise housing got a bad reputation in later years, though we still were there until 2015, when they were supposed to have been demolished, think they got refurbished and are private now maybe?. Globe Inn, ghost sign still there as you left Keighley station, sadly no more, spent many happy hours in there, was my dad's local when he was alive. ❤at 72 I'm just old enough to remember the steam trains, I recall that when diesel took over, we used to hear them from our house in Ingrow up and down the line below us. Great video as always Darren, thanks😂

Always informative and good to watch your videos. Thanks... P.s; around 20 mins in, the old entrance/tunnel was the entrance to the old go-karts track in the 90s until brand new go kart track was added in the former location by the entrance...
