In that very brief statement, the Lord says that the world is to look for a time that will be worse than any other time it has ever known. And the Lord even gives it a name: Great Tribulation. Now, this isn’t anything new because there have been other prophets than our Lord Jesus Christ who also have spoken of this same time. It is a time of tremendous trouble, which encompasses the world but centers on the nation of Israel. To see how the prophets of Israel spoke of it, let’s go back to Isaiah chapter 10. Isaiah chapter 10. And as Isaiah looked forward to that day, that day of the Lord, that day of great judgment, that day of establishing the kingdom of Messiah, that day of salvation for Israel, that great climactic day when man’s work on earth, as it were, done by his own hand and design is done and God takes over, he says this in verse 20: “It shall come to pass in that day” - that great day, the end of man’s day, the beginning of God’s day - “that the remnant of Israel and such as have escaped of the house of Jacob shall no more again lean upon him who smote them but shall lean upon the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.”

I recently started listening to John MacArthur because I needed something to put my granddaughters puppy to sleep. Nothing puts anyone to sleep faster then a preacher. It worked. As soon as she hears John's voice, she nods off. I, on the other hand, have been left awake and listening and thinking I already knew the bible I gave a casual ear ... only to discover that I did not know the gospel. Not at all. Thank you John MacArthur for teaching me the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I praise Almighty God for giving us Pastor John MacArthur. John's teachings helped me in my early days of becoming a child of God, back in 1983. God used John's teaching to minister to me. I was almost lost to the Charismatic tongues movement.If it weren't for John's teachings on miracles, healings and tongues, I would have thought that a person needed to speak in tongues to be savedI. I know better now. It's by faith we are saved, not of works, (not tongues) it is the gift of God.

Respectfully, you seem to be confused about this topic. True Christians are the temple of God. Those Jews who do not believe in Christ Jesus will rebuild a physical temple building. This new temple that will be rebuilt near the last day was spoken about by both Daniel the prophet and the Lord Jesus. It is important to differentiate between the two. I hope this helps you.

The Antichrist at the end of time it's the same agreement in Daniel 11 verse 22.. 23 as Daniel 9:27 the first place this subject has written about is in Daniel 8. and he never went there!!!. You can't interpret prophecy anywhere without knowing what Daniel 8 is saying.

Another warning to the religious leaders: “And now, O priests, this commandment is for you. If you will not hear, and if you will not take it to heart, to give glory to My name,” Says the Lord of hosts, “I will send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings. Yes, I have cursed them already, because you do not take it to heart” (Malachi 2:1-2). There is only one name given under heaven by which we must be saved, behold the name of salvation, YAHSHUA! Halleluyah, Praise YAH, Praise YAHSHUA! Take it to heart!

I've never seen so much confusion about what he just said about Daniel 11:31. Daniel 11:31 is what Jesus was speaking of in Matthew 24:15 (he is the prince of the covenant) .. Daniel 9:27.( He is the prince of the covenant in Daniel 11 :22 at the end and 23 in the beginning . (Antiochus epiphanes never made an agreement.. to do destruction at the Temple.)!!!!. The Antichrist..(.he's the king of Daniel 8:23). (That wins it by flatters). In Daniel 11:21 ! He is the only person that is spoken of in the entire book of Daniel..as the (abomination of desolation).. or what he does... Described by Jesus Christ in Matthew 24:15. The first place it spoken of is in Daniel 8. . For the time of the end.. Daniel 8:19 Daniel 8:17 Daniel 8:24 (John MacArthur never touch Daniel 8.)!! So by not using Daniel 8.. he misinterpreted Daniel 11.... It appears like he misinterpreted the the timeline of Matthew 24 in its entirety.... Because up to the verse 15. The rapture may have not happened. .But we know that the rapture happened before verse 15. Based on 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2. Somebody indoctrinated him in prophecy!!!

The only place where I got off track was 30:11-30:59, where you referenced Daniel 11 and the initial conflagration involving the kings of the North & South, where the Antichrist wins. The entire chapter of Daniel 11 is difficult for me to understand, as parts were fulfilled historically and some parts are yet future? Is this to be interpreted as dual-fulfillment prophecy? More study is clearly warranted. Thanks again for your expositional teaching and insights. (P.S. I agree, the commentaries written on this subject have been more confusing than helpful. That's because he didn't tell you the truth about Daniel 11. It is the same King as in Daniel 8:23 ..it is described in Daniel 11 verse 21. Wins the kingdom by flatters. Which is the Antichrist of Daniel 8:23. The abomination of desolation that is spoken of by Jesus in Matthew 24:15. (Is always the same guy throughout the entire book of Daniel. (Antiochus epiphanes has nothing to do with anything here)!!!.. that was past 200 years. When Jesus spoke about this subject ..in Matthew 24:15. I've studied this for fifty years. I was completely blown away by what he did. To that text. The same agreement in Daniel 11 verse 22 and 23 is the same agreement made in Daniel 9:27!!! It's the same guy. Then he misinterpreted the timeline at the end of Daniel 12. Because he doesn't understand the 2300 days. In Daniel 8 there's no way he can interpret this ,without understanding Daniel 8. And he never went there. That's the first place the subject is written about!

Antiochus epiphanes didn't win anything by (flatteries) nor did he come from a small people in was more Stout than his fellows.. nor did he make (an agreement to do what he did.).. this is written in five more places in the Bible. Actually more if you understand it .they all match. I can give you more of these.( the Bible interprets itself ,absolutely perfectly] John didn't do that with the Book of Daniel. So by doing that he probably couldn't interpret any other Prophecy in the Book of Daniel, except I think he has the Daniel 9:27 concept right ..but he doesn't know it means the whole thing! @@JamieElison Of course . Luke 21 parallels Matthew 24 and is a bit easier for us to understand . In Luke 21 , we don't have the "abomination of desolation" Daniel talked about (and the Jews knew what he was talking about , that's why audience relevance matters) but just that : "When you see Jerusalem sourrounded by armies , then know that its DESOLATION is near ". So , we understand -as non first century Jews - that the "abomination of desolation" would take place when Jerusalem would be taken by (the Roman) armies , then the temple would be desecrated etc.. The Romans brought their ensigns with pagan gods to the temple.

It's speaking about the guy that (stands in the holy place )!!!!!!...(Titus never did)!!!!!!!. He practices and prospers in that holy place after it's built. Revelation chapter 11 which is still. People could not do certain things without worshipping the emperor ( Rev 13 matches with that). Rev is about two beasts , one from the gentiles , one from Israel (the sea and the earth) and Babylon the harlot drunk with the blood of the PROPHETS and the witnesses of Jesus. What city killed all the prophets and persecuted those who believed in Christ ? In Luke , Jesus told them that they would see the Son of man coming on the clouds right after the DESOLATION of Jerusalem , trampled by the gentiles and that that generation would not pass away until all this was fulfilled. John, um, you left out a verse. Should have put it in right after Matt 24:30, His coming. That would be the rapture of the church in verse 31. AFTER the abomination of desolation in verse 15 and AFTER the cosmic disturbances of verse 29 which come BEFORE the start of the Day of the Lord. See Joel 2:31.

This sermon has NOT withstood the Test of Time. The Soviet Union of 1984 is not the Russia of 2024. Even in 1984, some Soviet Leaders, Putin, Yeltsen, and Gorbachev in particular, were only nominally (at worst) Agnostic. Even Malenkov (Stalin's immediate successor) was overt about it, being a Reader (The Lowest Order of Clergy) in the Orthodox Church. Nevertheless, the Gog & Magog Scenario has to be treated as a possibility for the End of Times. This fact is accentuated by the fact that Islam acknowledges it, though it's called "Juj and Majuj" in Arabic. MacArthur makes a good case to reinstate the Books of the Maccabees into Scripture, though the original purpose of the expungement of these Books of the Bible by Luther and Calvin lays with how said Books negate the Calvinism MacArthur preaches. MacArthur will have to do some major updating if he wants to revisit this sermon.

I thought you might notice that he destroyed Daniel 11. that's not antiochus epiphanes). That is the little horn King that wins it by flatteries in verse 21. That makes the agreement.,( the prince of the covenant) in verse 22 at the end and verse 23 in the beginning.( It's the same agreement as Daniel 9; 27 . You will see me nod my head in agreement with literally everybody’s position but never landing on any of them as the one and only truth. Rapture? Yes! No rapture? Ok! Premillennial? Yes! Preterism? Yes! Mid trib, post trib? Yes and yes! I’m prepared to accept any of it (except the notion that the second coming already took place). It’s not a salvation issue. I rejoice in my salvation and am safe in the hands of the Father and His son. That’s really all I need to know. At the end of the day, after I have waded through the polarized thoughts of man, I covet and cleanse myself with this verse. Daniel 12:13 ESV But go your way till the end. @@ezbody Are you, though, because you have established no such thing. Perhaps you ought to be more forthright in your criticism. As for Calvinism, it can be treated as another Gospel if people use it incorrectly, which is why I avoid using the term and prefer to refer to the Doctrines of Grace, because God is the author, Calvin merely unpacked and expressed the truth that resides in God's word. Also, for the record, I believe John MacArthur is one of the best preachers today, but I also think he's completely off base in a few of his ideas. He would agree that he is merely a fallible man, but God is the only eternally perfect one.

First of all he's not a prophet !but he is right about the 7-year description! What you just said is Jesus is the devil in Daniel 9:27! ( he's wrong about Daniel 11, because Daniel 8 is explaining the whole thing)! it's the( first place that Jesus sent you for Matthew 24:15) to (understand) this subject, the 7 years of Daniel 9:27 (is the agreement of Daniel 11 verse 22 at the end, 23 in the beginning )...(the prince of the Covenant) which is the agreement for Daniel 8.. (after the agreement) the building time is 220 days ..the functioning time is 2300 is Daniel 8:13 says ...the total number of days in the seven years of Daniel 9: 27 is 2520 days. !!!!! coming from somebody that studied this stuff for 50 years, for this very purpose!
