Despite the buffering lmao, that was my favorite set in Haikyuu. You can really see how much Oikawa loves volleyball. After a damn near impossible set, he fell into the table, slipped on his injured knee, then forced himself to get up and keep running. He may have lost but he stole the show for me. They did an amazing job with his character. Can’t wait to see the rest of Oikawa’s story animated. My goat 🥲

"Talent is something you bloom Instinct is something that you polish. " Oikawa Probably my favorite or second favorite line in the show!! Also did you notice that Oikawa tripped when he got up from the fall? And that also on his bad knee? But he ignores it and pushes forward. That little trip just humanizes Oikawa and honestly is the scene that made me love him. I always tear up at the scene..
@psy2583 жыл бұрын
Something I found interesting was that in S1, Oikawa mentions his perfect bond of trust with Iwaizumi and Iwa jokingly says “We don’t have that.” Then here all Oikawa has to do is point at him from across the court and Iwa already knows what to do. No words needed, just eye contact. They have an amazing friendship and I can’t wait until Kageyama and Hinata reach that level of trust as well! Also another thing I remembered from S1 was that Kageyama mentioned that whenever Oikawa was in trouble he would always set the ball to Iwaizumi no matter what. Here we see that in the heat of the moment Oikawa is backed into the corner with 1 point on the line, who does he set it to? Iwaizumi. Similar to the way the game ended in S1 as well, Kageyama was backed into a corner and through force of habit, did the quick with Hinata. Amazing callbacks.

Even though Oikawa lost the match here, I like to think it gave him some sort of clarity. He held himself back because he had always believed natural talent was superior to anything he could do. Yet here he broke past his limitations when he took the risk of that (amazing) off court set. Of course he’ll have the loss of the game on his mind, but he’ll also walk off the court knowing that his potential has no bounds. I truly feel that this point marked the start of Oikawa’s journey.

Losing 7 years in a row. That gotta suck. Plus, first seeing Ushiwaka upping him only to see another genius in his front, that boy is going through so much. And yes, he is controversial, so most people will dislike him. But the struggle Oikawa shows, when the odds are against him is amazing. "Talent is something you make bloom. Instinct is something you polish." These words could have never fitted any one else better.

Oikawa wasn’t talking to his junior high coach in the flashback, they reveal who it was way later in the manga so I won’t say who it is. Even though Oikawa is wearing his junior high uniform just know he wasn’t talking to his junior high coach it was someone else😳

1:18 - Translation context: in japan when you call someone an idiot (in the context of a sport) it doesn't imply 'stupid'. The closer meaning to it would be something like 'sports junkie' or 'sports obsessed'. It's less an insult and more an acknowledgement of skill. 2:11 - Fun fact: during the VNL (Volleyball Nations League), they played Haikyuu's 'Fly High' for the match between USA and Japan.

I think the scene where Oikawa talks about talent and instinct means he actually bloomed his talent right there. At least that's what I got from it after watching it a few times. I think it meant that after thousands of times setting and a lot of practice, he got an incredible ball sense and actually evolved right there, breaking the talent curse and proving that he can be as good as anyone, even without being born with all the talent. It's so beautifully done.
@stellarcollision34223 жыл бұрын
I'm happy that you genuinely love this show. I just want to say that unlike shounen, this doesn't have a "villain". Just because a team is playing against us doesn't mean we are obliged to hate them and not entertain the thought that they deserve credit. I'm not saying this is about Oikawa, but who am I kidding? Lol. I'm a total simp for him and Hinata.

That feeling when the wifi cuts out at the climax of a scene...ooof. Ngl, I yelled, "NOOOOOOO" too, and I've seen this episode so many times but it never fails to get me hooked into the final moments of the match. Also, that man is most definitely not Oikawa's middle school coach, but I can't tell you who he is. All of the Iwa-chan love is great; he's truly a great ace and a boss character. Always a great reaction!
@artprojectsix52803 жыл бұрын
Ngl this reaction was refreshing. The first feeling was relief, before all the hype, and I loved that. Also, I'm very sure Oikawa would have received that last spike if it didn't get tooled of Turnip, this man was still easily the best player standing on that court!!

i mean, you can like tsuki, you just dont like him because you decide not to like. You made a choice based on the first 4 episodes of the show that you will hate him forever and you cant let go of it. Tsukishima is not gonna kiss yamaguchi on the cheek and say : "thats my boy" with a smile on his face, he wont. Or you like him or you dont. Just like him or hate him the way he is, dont keep expecting him to change that all
@beasty49363 жыл бұрын
Viewers are meant to change the way they think abt tsukishima throughout haikyuu. It is designed for him to redeem himself. He isnt a likeable character from the get go but throughout the show we get to know his reasons and see him open up a lil more and eventually truly enjoy the sport.
@vzgamer57383 жыл бұрын
@@beasty4936 yes that makes sense, but if they dont like tsukishima now they are not gonna like him ever. I would rspect them more if they straight said they hated him instead of saying that they are trying to like him to please the fanbase. I dont believe 3x4 is enough for them to like him, because the reson why they dont like him is his jerky and scummy nature, wich is one of hte reasons i love him. You cant expect someone like that to change 180 like that. Tsukishima is going to keep being jerkyshima forever because thats who he is. And we should just accept him that way instead of wanting him to be a goody two shoes like everyone else in the show. Imagine How utterly boring it would be if every character was like Daichi or Suga or Tanaka. I would wanna vomit. We need different characters like tsukishima, now if they hate him i feel sorry for them but thats okay, just know that his personality wont change. That shit dosent happen in real life, let alone in 6 months

even though I have seen this episode 100 times, I was feeling the same way as you two when it started bufferring. That to it bufferred at the most intense and awesome moments. 16:23 each team gets 2 timeouts per set. At that time, score was 25-24 in our favor, so Seijoh coach took the timeout to stop our momentum.
@erict16283 жыл бұрын
This tournament is the last one for the 3rd years, so it's now or never. Since you're a bit ahead in Patreon, you're already aware that S3 is only 10 episodes and they jumped into the match against Shiratorizawa right away. Also, remember to watch the OVAs Land vs. Air (parts 1 and 2) after S3. It's the Tokyo qualifiers for the Spring Nationals.

I wished Seijoh had won and become the main team of the story, then have them lose at some point, subsequently making it Oikawa's last high school game, but setting it up for Karasuno's return to the plot simultaneously. That way, we'd get some foreshadowing into future opponents for Karasuno while getting dope matches and seeing great characters in play at the same time. Then again, there are plenty of teams in this show with many well written characters that are capable of being the main team the plot focuses on.
