Haikyuu is genuinely the best fighting anime there is, they just do it through the lens of a sport. And they even manage to do it without mixing in fantastical or magical superpowers like some sports anime do, it's SO well done!

Oikawa’s last set in highschool was the super long set to iwaizumi I’m crying
@TBoring2 жыл бұрын
I love that the last point not only shows Hinata’s and Kageyama’s progression but also Oikawa’s. That last point is a representation of the last point not just from their last match, but from that very first practice match as well. In that first match the freak quick was fast Oikawa couldn’t even react to it, it passed right by him. Here, despite it being a superior version with Hinata able to aim it, Oikawa is able to predict where it’s going and react to it. If the ball hadn’t changed trajectory off the block he might’ve been able to dig it up and the match could have ended very differently.
@ArgKnoxville862 жыл бұрын
Oikawa’s growth is one of the most well-handled and well-written parts of Haikyuu. Up until Kageyama dumps the ball in episode 24, Oikawa never believes himself to be a genius. He sees people that Kageyama and Ushiwaka, players that are simply beyond human, and it shakes him to the core. In his mind, they are walls he can’t climb over alone, and that realization pushes him to be the best all-around player. He works on his sets, his communication, analytical skills, leadership, all that jazz, because in terms of pure setting skills Kagzy blows him out of the park. And while that realization helped him improve in different aspects, it also held him back, because he hides behind the idea that naturally gifted Kageyama can simply do things he never could. At least, up until Kageyama dumps the ball in his trashy k-pop face; because now Kageyama isn’t catching up anymore. He’s pulled ahead. And if Oikawa wants to fight Kageyama on the same field, he must accept that his firm belief that Kagzy is objectively better is pure BULLSHIT. And immediately after that realization hits, Oikawa does a freak quick set from across the court perfectly into Iwa-chan’s hand, non-directly communicating that it’s HIS turn to surpass Kageyama. And that’s why trashy K-pop is top tier character material.

Once again I want to appreciate Iwaizumi's digs and amazing saves in this match, so much respect for him truly. Also: Noya was totally right when he was talking about the crowd going even more wild at an awesome dig, that was me throughout these episodes every time Iwaizumi came in clutch for his team. Sometimes I had to rewind a bit to see who saved it, cause it went by so fast and it was always him, the mad lad!! Also here to appreciate my guy Tanaka, cause he too pulls off amazing saves a lot actually, at least from what I've noticed. Also bless Daichi and Noya, the guardians of Karasuno's court, at this point it's expected of them, but I still always think "I love you" every time they pull off a great receive. Anyways I'm just here for a great reaction and to appreciate some receive kings :D

The final rally still gives me chills. Also love 'Talent is something you make bloom, instinct is something you polish', it nicely encapsulates Oikawa's feeling inferiority against what he considers genius's like Ushijima and Kageyamas potential as he grows while also showing he still believes he has room to grow himself. It's simultaneously self-deprecating and inspiring.

One of the best matches in the show but I'd still say if the blocker's finger wasn't there to interfere in the path of the ball at the end Oikawa would've received it
@erikasalazar46092 жыл бұрын
But that was Hinata´s goal, to touch the blocker so if the ball goes out it's still their point, also, in haikyuu there's no IF's, we could've said that IF the blockers hadn't read their play (season 1), it would've been Karasunos point. So yeah...

When kageyama dumps it and oikawa says “I know” ajshakajjajajs oikawa knows that kageyama’s innate talent is going to surpass him and it haunts him. I feel so bad for him bc he’s trying to extend the time that kageyama is below him for as long as possible bc he knows that eventually kageyama will become a better setter and all that oikawa ever wanted to be was the greatest setter for his hitters.

This is the episode that completely subverts the previous notion that “Toru Oikawa is not a genius,” proving that he most certainly is.
@isabellafiguerola74502 жыл бұрын
But he isn’t. Thats what’s so cool about his character and his growth, it shows that you don’t need to be a genius to be amazing in something, it’s about the effort you put into it. Even though he’s not my favorite you’re removing part of his growth/effort by saying he’s a genius (btw not saying that geniuses don’t make an effort, actually Kageyama is my favorite and I do think he tries really hard but there’s certain advantage there by being a genius)
@Revaiel_2 жыл бұрын
@@isabellafiguerola7450 Did you miss the whole point of Osamu's realization about Atsumu and Kita's monologue? Genius is not something you're just born with, you make yourself a genius by having a hunger that is beyond everyone else. Furudate is later entirely subverting this earlier idea of "genius" and turning it on its head. That's why Oikawa is the final boss.
@isabellafiguerola74502 жыл бұрын
@@Revaiel_ Hi! Sorry, I think you’re the one that missed the point. Furudate talks on and on about some people naturally having more Talent that others (what he calls geniuses aka Kageyama). As I said, that doesn’t mean they don’t polish their talents, it only means they are gifted and naturally better than the average person. You saying Oikawa is a genius is wrong and also kinda dismisses his efforts (basically what certain captain said in s4) bc as we clearly know, he isn’t a genius, he’s a guy that worked harder than most of the characters in the show, which is why he ended the way we already know (it’s best not to put spoilers in the comments, as Teddy requested)

@@isabellafiguerola7450 TY👍
@Revaiel_2 жыл бұрын
@@isabellafiguerola7450 Go back and reread the series. Genius is the wrong word to begin with, "prodigy" is the better word. Yes Kageyama is a 'technical' prodigy, and yes Ushijima was born with a physique and left-handedness that other people do not have. Ushijima and Kageyama also both suck at school and have no other talents (later revelation). This is what was originally meant by "genius." However, this does not actually mean anything relevant. Oikawa is arguably the most intelligent person in the entire series (making him, alongside Tsukishima and Kenma, the more literal definition of a "genius"), and has that same "hunger" for volleyball that was later described for Atsumu, Kageyama, and Hinata, who are just beyond everyone else. You can't just take what is said in Season 1 in a vacuum from the rest of the later series. Furudate is developing his thought throughout the story, and is constantly engaging/subverting his previous philosophical musings. You can't just pretend like Oikawa is just a guy who works hard. That's silly. If all it took was hard work, Kita would be the greatest volleyball player in the series (and we all know he isn't). Oikawa has been playing 5D volleyball from the very beginning, which is why, like I said, he is the one with the last laugh over all the so-called "geniuses." The word loses its meaning by the end. There is no longer any difference between Kageyama and Oikawa by the end of the series, and Furudate is highly suggestive that Oikawa even took back his throne.
