For Pearl islands, it was that they went stagecraft over function their movie set treasure was not air tight, leading to mold and mildew. Even putting the blankets in a plastic bag would have helped. Today they might be smarter

I think he misremembered the reward because it wasn’t just salt, pepper, and oil. That was the secondary reward, the main reward was a complete spice set (with salt pepper and oil included) which is 10000% worth it especially when all you’ve been eating is boiled crab and coconuts.

Some context for the Rupert reward : the Tribe who won Rupert said that they preferred not to win him because of the fact that most of them didn't know him at all, the girls were scared from the why he looks and talks. Also he failed in absolutely every single thing he tried to do, breaking their fishing gear and he had to eat with them so they lost a lot of their food because of him.

Each time someone mentions Brenda I remember Cindy's reward from Guatemala, when she won a car but was offered to give up on it in exchange for car for everyone else. She chose opposite to Brenda and was also voted out the exact same episode. In both cases the player was basically screwed

I do think that the herb garden and spices reward in Gabon is really great. The rewards where they get to eat this huge feast are often bad because their stomachs can't hold all that food, so they usually have diarrhea afterwards. But an herb garden and spices is a reward that'll hopefully last you the whole game. And the food they gotta eat at camp is so bland, they'd probably be glad to have herbs and spices for their rice and fish.

salt is actually really good you can use it to preserve food, you need it for suplement, it makes food taste better, it eliminates odors, you can clean with it, remove featehrs from chickens etc, scale fish with it, if you do get milk for some reason salt will make it last longer, it helps against sore throats, bug bites / stings, repel ants from your camp,

If it's a physical fight, or endurance battle, especially in the heat, there should be a bigger reward. Many survivors has gotten injured, heat stroke in so many situations and they don't even get much in return. I hope in further seasons, the reward will be really worth playing for.

I vaguely remember a different video talking about producers clothing people to 1) prevent items like food and fish hooks smuggled in and 2) encourage women to be in bikinis more often. Otherwise I feel like more people would make choices to account for weight loss AND being cold at night (sweaters, rain jackets, sweat pants on top of shorts). I'd go in layered in as much as I could possibly swim in for the first episode.

If you mean something other than the reward challenge right before final immunity, maybe (I don't really remember the other reward challenges)... But his final reward was actually a reward challenge *before* the final immunity challenge (which, as far as I can remember, had never been done before and has not been done since), and it was a power meal filled with protein and carbs, and a dry bed and personal shelter to sleep in to allow him to be in peak condition for the final immunity challenge. As far as impact on the game, that certainly *was* worth playing for. The reward itself was possibly one of the best rewards (a huge advantage going into the final immunity challenge). Yes, it may have all been for naught when Terri lost the final immunity challenge anyway (because it was a balancing challenge and he was up against a former gymnast), but the reward itself could have been one of the best advantages to the point of people potentially protesting it being "unfairly advantageous!" That being said, yes, I really did not like the *idea* of having a reward challenge that late into a game, or giving anyone an advantage in the final immunity challenge! Like I said, that challenge ended up being for naught because he still lost, and also, even if he *had* won, there likely would've been *even more* controversy on how it was unfair he got an advantage in such a critical challenge! That's probably why (if I'm remembering it correctly) they never repeated it again!

A lot of the bad rewards are kind of understandable. If the Jack & Jill movie producers decide to sponsor the show, CBS isn't going to turn it down because the movie will probably suck. And it would seem hard to get good quality pizza in Fiji. But the half-chewed meat...it's not a sponsored reward and they HAD to realize how disgusting that premise was, right? Or even if they didn't realize it going in, observing the challenge would make it obvious and they still didn't pivot to a different reward. Really weird and gross.

I completely missed Rupert on Survivor Israel. I bet most of the players don't even know who Rupert is, because in Israel the players are mostly VIP mixed with all stars, and not hardcore survivor fans.
