A lack of common sense, the earth is flat, the earth is only 6000 years old, and we wonder even in 2021 why the aliens haven't popped in n started a dialog yet 🤣🤣🤣 Aliens: ok it's the year 2021, let's get this year started off right! Alien 2: hold up grebthax, these creatures STILL whole heartedly believe their own planet is flat, let's try for the year 2050, I mean we do live to be 10,000 years old after all Alien 3: by ozax's spear! They STILL think its actually flat?! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 *falls over laughing*

My jokes are mainly self-deprecating and only sometimes dark, especially about death. The funniest joke I think I've ever heard: my family, which included my two brothers and I, were at the funeral home after the death of my father. The gal from the funeral home was telling us different things we needed to know. She told us that dad's eyes (the cornea?) had been harvested to give to someone else so they could see better. Not more than five minutes later she asked what we wanted done with Dad's glasses. My brother piped up and said maybe they could give them to the person who got his eyes. I got a good laugh out of that. No one else did. The gal from the funeral home gave my brother a death stare! So funny! Was funny too 'cause my dad would have enjoyed the joke as well.

I can totally relate to that one. I remember speaking to a roomful of old people one day in a long term care home. As I was about the same age as the audience, I opened the conversation with this one. "What's 30 feet long and smells of urine? Senior citizens line dancing." There was a long awkward moment of silence and only one person laughed. (Probably an INFJ!) Yep, we seem to be the very few who can use dark humour and wonder why other people don't get it.

Eclectic, ironic, & bitingly sharp intellectual humor is my typical version of "dark" humor. Add to the moment a sprinkling of unusual vocabulary AND the "right" audience: It can go well. Mis-read the audience, and things can go very badly....quickly. As with all things an INFJ considers important: KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE WHEN JOKING AROUND. .

I worked on the night shift, and we got the paper at lunch time, 3am. Not having enough time to read it by one person we split it up and anyone finding an interesting article would read it to the others. I came upon an article about a couple who the night before their wedding got into an argument and the woman ended up stabbing the man through the heart killing him. After the appropriate pause I added, "At least he found out what she was like before he married her."

Because we have probably the deepest innate understanding of the Human psyche we know exactly where and how hard to verbally and emotionally push someone to elicit any required reaction. As much as a lot of INFJ's would not wish to admit it we have the ability to be the ultimate emotional manipulators. Fortunately we are also extremely unlikely to want to do that for personal gain alone, but rather more than likely to improve harmony in the "tribe". Because ultimately that is our role.

I can spit out some dark wit at times. I also like taking the most serious of subjects and just exaggerating and making it absurd. But I could never be a comedian or if I was, I could never retell a joke in the same way. My constant inner dialogue along with me trying to perfect things - I would end up rewriting the setup constantly. I have this one. I frequently hear from people who make a decision, then a minute later are second-guessing themselves. Ha! If they were INFJ, they would be on their fourth or fifth guess in that amount of time! I have retyped this comment 3 times. You've been great folks, I'll be here most of the next 5 minutes!

Dang, I really didn't expect this to be basically 90% accurate on how I think. I hadn't realized how much I use dark humor as a social tactic. Learning some things about myself here!

When I show people my weird, I don’t gradually read the temperature as much as I should. I just dive headfirst and throw out my strange comments. It’s hurtful when I get disapproving looks. It makes me want to go hide in a sewer and ruminate with regret. But I absolutely love it when I find someone who reacts like I’ve just surprised them with a gift. I’m happy to give more to the people who want more. I don’t often find people who I feel that comfortable with, but when I do, it’s the greatest thing. I don’t think I can even be happy if I don’t have that.

I then told then that chinese babyoil is the best because they derive it from really fresh newborn babies which is not allowed here in the western countries. Here they use only dead born babies to make oil from. That's more sticky to the skin. They really thought i was serious! First of all, Mr. Psych-O, humor consists of one of only two things. Humor is either genuine rejoicing in the calamity of OTHER people, or it is feigned rejoicing in your OWN calamity. When we INFJs 'rejoice' in our own calamity, it is not light-hearted, as you say, but it is a very bitter thing, in the same vein as the writings of Ambrose Bierce, also known as Bitter Bierce, the 19th century author of The Devil's Dictionary, not an occult book, but a savagely satirical dictionary with such definitions as: lawyer -- one skilled at circumventing the law. We INFJs, by virtue of being less than half a percent of the general population, are BORN into lifelong calamity, automatically rejected by the world of 'normal' people, subject to rejection and ridicule and oppression in every area of life: socially, professionally, and financially, so we strike back, as best we can, with our unique brand of 'humor,' and WE MEAN EVERY WORD OF IT!!

I am an INFJ. I write Christian humor. I do have to be careful to not let get too dark. I do use my humor in a lot of ways. I have had more than one person say “I don’t know what it is about you but when I am upset about something you get me laughing about it. I used it when my brother in law was wrong about something that he did not see he needed growth on. I do balance this out when I can…not being a nag but finding other ways to confront when I can. Most people believe I am a really quiet person. Others see me as the life of the party. It depends on how comfortable I am with other people seeing my humor. I am the queen of self deprecating humor.

I tend to ask men if they're pregnant, which usually lightens the mood. Yes, I do fire that at myself as well; for example, last year on Boxing Day I got pretty sick so I said to my sister, "You think maybe I'm pregnant?" She got the joke. Mind you, the really dark side of my gallows banter has scared people. One job I had was so bad the only way I could cope with it was lots of bad jokes about Dexter. And by that I mean they were to the effect that I am Dexter. Some people actually thought I was serious, though one would think that adding I was also an alien mutant vampire to the mix would have made it obvious that I didn't mean to be taken seriously. Fools.

"Normal" people don't get my dark sense of humor--they look at me like I have two heads--so because of that and the fact I hate to hurt anyone's feelings I've learned to keep my jokes to myself nine times out of ten...which probably looks strange to anyone who might catch me smiling and chuckling to myself for no apparent reason. When I make a self-deprecating or sarcastic joke, the fact that I joke with a straight face will often cause people to chuckle nervously, unsure whether I am being serious or whether laughing would offend me.

I do it a lot. Especially when it gets to seriously. The most people think that I want the conversation to end or open up another topic, but that's not. I'm more of a sarcastic INFJ, although I do enjoy dark humor at times. I just want to know how this channel can describe me so well. Almost always spot on when it comes to my personality.

I’ve had to learn through the years that I can only share my real sense of humor with a few people. What, to me, is a simple observation of irony or juxtaposition, an innocent bystander may perceive as being truly bizarre or taboo. In most cases, the actual subject matter isn’t relevant to my observation of how two apparently dissimilar situations are actually more closely related than you think.

There is a cartoon of a kid opening a box for the Kurt Cobain edition of the Rock Band game. Inside the box is a rifle instead of a guitar. No matter how many times I see it, I laugh. The look on the character's face is hysterical.

Yep. That’s me. I have told people to go shit in their hats, stuff a sock in it, as well as ask who pissed in their Cheerios….or my favorite that rolled out of my mouth before the brain filters caught it, “what are you going to do, sit on me?”I also use it as a defense mechanism. And my jokes have gone over like a fart in church many times.

One time...I acted like I was depressed for days, in order to lead up to the joke/prank. Then, when I knew people were going to be around and passing by where I was on the farm, I strung myself up with rope around my waist and upper body beneath my coat so it looked as though the rope was just around my neck as I dangled from a tree limb. Should have heard the screams. I couldn't stop from laughing after that 🤣🤣🤣

Since we know and understand so much about how awful this world can be sometimes, I think humor is one of the gifts to balance us. It would be unbarable to take this knowing without a sense of humor and gratitude, we would probably just sit and panic/cry 24-7 and nothing would get solved or better.

I can relate to all of the above topics mentioned. I'm aware of how toxic I have become over the years. I enjoy 😉 my dark cutting edge 🤪sense of humour. I think 🤔 it's born from my restless 😬incurable curiosity 😅. I have developed quite sadistic humour 😄 through emotional trauma 😢. Because, I over analyse everything and everyone, I tend to read 📚more into a regular conversational topic and then procrastinate for giving off the impression that, I'm more interested than I really am but get some enjoyment from the discomfort of being misconstrued. 👿

Had this coworker who was a malignant narcissist(infjs are narc magnets) come into work one day complaining he accidentally ingested motor oil while working on his car. I made a reference to another coworker that he attempted suicide but failed and that god refused to allow him to pass those pearly white gates. So hes here with us at work today. The idiot felt offended but had no problem randomly asking me "have you ever been stuffed inside the trunk of a car?"🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Took the personality test, found out I have an infj personality type. I absolutely hate how infj videos seem to, "talk-up", the personality. It comes off as if the infj is full of themselves. I'm not walking through life stroking my own ego, I have hard stances on personal beliefs, and certainty in my decision making. But, any bit of outside perspective is a welcomed addition to my limited perception. Everyone has wisdom to share, and the best thing you could do is shut up and listen to it.

I've often described my sense of humor as absurd. My theory is that INFJs thirst for absurdity in their humor because it gives them a reprieve from their otherwise perpetual vision quest for the meaningful, the profound, the sacred and their need to grasp "the heart of the matter", which they take very seriously. Like an alchemist mixing together multiple free-floating perspectives and distilling them down in order to arrive at the thing in it's quintessential form. The INFJ then seeks to (dis)solve the focus of their attention by interrogating it for answers and extracting out its secrets with the goal of transmuting the object into gold for the benefit of all. Or they could just intentionally say something that makes no sense and is devoid of all context just for their own personal yuks. It doesn't matter if no one else gets it, that's what makes it funny.... there's nothing to get, no connection to be made to reveal the punchline, because there isn't one. In the rare occasion that someone happens to laugh at your solipsistic punctuated disequalibriums of anti-wit then you've probably made a friend for life. An INFJs humor may also have to do with their desire for harmony in their surroundings. They sometimes feel provoked to upset this harmony but only by their own initiative. This allows the INFJ to break up the comfort of complacency and conformity but in a managed and disinterested way, possibly shocking their audience momentarily then quickly maneuvering them back to a state of mutual harmonic resonance.

You absolutely hit the nail on the head. Sometimes I want to laugh at the absurdity of echidnas or recall some weirdly applicable British humor, maybe I don't want to talk about life events or the millionth theory on how everything in the world is conceptually connected.

My humor is dark and morbid really. I will always rip on myself alot. I know sometimes make a joke. See the looks on people's face. Like that's to far. I just laugh and say lighten up lol. I know I nitpick too. I will tell somebody their doing something the wrong way. They are like it still gets done. I'm like that isn't the point. Do it properly. Which comes across like a asshole. I try to ignore it. Really difficult.

I have made people laugh, and this is probably quite a common joke among several different personality types, but a guy came to check my radiators, as they were making loud banging noise when starting up. He turns the thermostat up to start up the radiators, gently ticks as normal, almost as if nothing had happened. So, with a heavy heart I said, "Of course now it doesn't do it now that your here." He snickered. and said, "Well let me just take a look to be sure there's nothing wrong inside."

This didn't really even need a joke behind it, but my fridge was also making weird noises, so I had a different guy come to take a look. He took the whole thing apart, but upon putting everything back together and packing his things up, I search my fridge later for something to eat, only to find the plyers he'd used in my freezer! I died! It made my mom laugh for sure!

Hi, INFJ here - PLEASE DO NOT JUDGE ME lol it was a joke I swear and I didn’t think it was that bad but you could’ve heard a pin drop when I said lmao anywho… here goes So I was at dinner with my husbands cousin and his boyfriend, we were discussing supporting our children through almost anything and someone said short of necrophilia of course and like duh necrophilia was outlandish so in my attempt to take it further in what I thought was a safe space lmao I said “well it depends, did he kill them or not?” Everyone went silent, then my husband side hugged and worryingly shushed me 😭

I may be an infj but my whole family has a dark sense of humor. It has to do with our Native American and Jewish background so we all get the dark jokes. But I do get to mess with my in-laws LOL. One day my fil look at my tall son and said isn't your dad over 6 ft? And I said no he's Six Feet Under. The looks on their faces. I could not stop laughing. And then I said I wish my dad was here because this would kill him and I realized what I said and had to run to my room to laugh for a long time. My family totally got it LOL
