Where as after the Crusade rampaged through their backyards they are alleged to have started attacking the realm of mortals more often. I like to think that the Judged survivors that reemerged did have concrete intel of Basillius' treason, the fact that he was alive, and where he currently lived; and that they were arrested for investigation by the Inquisition. But during their time in custody, the Astartes knew that he was still alive and didn't want to wait potentially years or decades, during which time he may slip away- especially if the forces of Chaos knew the Judged had that aforementioned intel. So they managed to escape custody, jetted off to Bassilius' palace to assault it, and when the Inquisition inevitably caught up with them, they saw all the Chaos paraphernalia about his abode and had all the proof they needed. The Vorpal Swords' and others' survival could be repayment for their glorious- if radical- actions.

You're thinking of The Warp. The Eye cannot just regenerate like The Warp does. While it holds many benefits of the warp, it is not fully the realm of Chaos. It still must obey some rules of reality, that is why corrupted mortals are able to not judt survive, but thrive in that _hellish_ place.
@MrEmiosk11 ай бұрын
Considering that most traitor warbands/legionares was at the seige of terra. They are by and large warriors, seige masters, master duelists and carrying gifts of the warp to a man. A single chaos marine is equal to most space marine squads in just how dangerous, devious and strong they are. At least that was how it used to be even in the 41st millenium. To many only centuries has passed since the herasy. many of the fleets Chaos wields are by and large the very same ships that they used to run havoc across the galaxy under Horus. The first few black crusades the marines participating the herasy was mere years perhaps a decade past, while for the imperium over three thousand years had passed. So when it comes to numbers, by and large, Traitor Chaos suffers no losses or upkeep costs while in the eye. hence why the black crusades happen so far in between. They build their numbers over what they see as decades, using resources and manpower income thay flows into the eye over centuries and millenia.

Likewise can also be true, mere moments can pass in real time while years can go by in the warp. These sort of stories about how ships are sent into the Eye for centuries. They amuse me. GW always forgets that the ships are crewed by Humans, not Astartes. Even at the start of the crusade. Those 30,000 are not enough to fully crew even one medium or larger ship. So, said Humans did not go mad or otherwise died somehow?
@bc940211 ай бұрын
I just assume that their decendents are usually the ones that take over. And yea, I assume they too also took massive losses during that crusade, and were probably down to a bare skeleton crew or randos by the end of it. That be a cool side thing no? “I was born during this crusade in the eye of terror, my great great grandfather was one of the orginal crew that went in with the avenging angels at the beginning.”
@Cassandra11211 ай бұрын
well its like the chaos worlds, etc. where do they all come from? "we destroyed 400 chaos worlds, fought and endless chaos armada." no idea where they came from. who is building these endless chaos fleets? how are any regular humans alive in here? you know the writers aren't keeping track of numbers. they just invent fleets and hordes when they want them.
@Archon396011 ай бұрын
Some of these GW lore topics, like total army numbers, are indeed Grimderp. 😂
@bc940211 ай бұрын
@@Cassandra112 On the chaos one, that’s easier to answer, since time works differently than real space, not to mention the logic of demon worlds, it’s very much possible that you can have quite a few populations of lost humans from various points in time that got stuck in the warp and became corrupted. There’s a book I recall that takes place on one of these demon worlds. As for resources, again the whole weird thing about time, can make it so that a few centuries of build up and maintenance, was only a few decades in real space. Hence why black crusades keep happening, but never one after the other, usually spaced out between certain periods.
@HF7-AD11 ай бұрын
I imagine the ships keep their geller fields up, it's also a transitional area between the warp and realspace, probably not as corrupty as the full deal

Maybe the he was both a saint and a traitor. He could have started out as one and then be corrupted into the other. Or more likely, the real saint could have been assassinated and replaced with a chaos cultist, surgically altered to look and sound like the saint well enough to impersonate him.

In my head canon, the first and most mythical story, where a saint and hero of the imperium is actually a still living chaos agent, nearly a millennium old, continuing to pull strings to undermine the imperium in the long run; that’s totally what happened. Up to, and including the Vorpal swords storming his palace and personally ending him and then sending him to the sun. That is grim, that is dark, that is 40 K.
