This song is referring to "the Allegory Of the Cave" by Plato. The idea is people only see whats in front of them and refuse to question what life might actually be. We are all victims of the cave. You are either forever inside it or you have left it and spend your entire life trying to get people out of it.

Jay Clericuzio ..."core" isn't a "subsect" of metal. Metal is essentially a subgenre of rock; so is hardcore, which is what the "core" stands for. And hip hop isn't a "subsect" of rap either, hip hop is the music genre and rap is the style of vocal accompaniment. It's ironic how you talk about others "trying to look smart and knowledgeable" when the only thing in your entire post that was actually correct was the definition of metal.
