Výborně vysvětlený přímý předmět. A ty kresby taky moc pomáhají! Musím uznat, že Jen má dobrou mnemotechniku.

This is exactly what I needed to see to help make sense of the cases. Thanks a lot!

This is perfect! It explains so much of the reasoning behind all the Czech cases. Thank you so much for making this! And it is easier to understand since it's a conversation and you two are creating good clear examples and analyses on the get go.

A prolegomena of the cases help inform the usage of them significantly! Terms like “direct object” are not useful on their own for many people, since they assume a lot within their attempt at brevity. These explanations offer a strong foundation to walk on when studying, so thank you!

Eliška, thank you for this video. I have been trying to learn Czech for 2 years without a lot of success. The cases kill me. :). However, your explanation of the "destination of purpose" is exceptionally helpful.

There is one thing I like about Eliška. She is native czech, her pronunciation is good (not the best, though), but Eliška doesn't hesitate to speak, Eliška is not scared and she is fluent in her english. Eliška somehow overcomed the czech school system stigma, which is ""Better die than make a mistake in any foreign language."

Ahoj Sire Macu, Eliška here :) Thank you for this comment, I really appreciate it. This is what I try to convey to my clients, learners of Czech: Don't let your fears and insecurities stop you from using your Czech as a tool and connecting with people. Don't wait until you are perfect. Just go, make mistakes and learn from them. You will get better along the way. Making videos in English for my KZbin channel is definitely out of my comfort zone, but this is how we grow.

This is great, thank you. I have a question, if you say "dam knihu vedle stul." Is that accusative or Genitive, because "vedle" is typically genitive?
@MarvinCZ2 жыл бұрын
Great question. It will be in genitive, "Dám knihu vedle stolu". Unfortunately I'm not exactly sure why the genitive "wins" here.
@BecauseCzechIsCool2 жыл бұрын
Ahoj :) Marvin is right, we have to use the genitive because of the preposition "vedle", which is always followed by the genitive case. So we say: "dám knihu vedle STOLU". The principle I explained in the video only applies to the prepositions "na, nad, pod, před, za, mezi". But as you can see, the genitive can also express a "destination" or a "goal" of a journey, such as: "Jdu do školy".

"Chodím NA univerzitu." Po dnešku ta věta začala dávat smysl, zejména ta předložka.
