Her lightsaber turning red while activated is so stupid. So, at that moment, she "bled" her kyber crystal by using anger and the dark side which turned it from blue to red. If that's how it works, then why did Anakin's lightsaber stay blue the entire time he was fighting Obi-Wan on Mustafar? I'd say he was even angrier and in much more despair, so much so that he lost control and choked the one thing he loved the most and tried to save and tried to kill his mentor and father figure immediately after. This is another reason that Disney's bleeding the crystal BS is stupid and I dislike it so much.

Actually, I'm not entirely convinced people did write it; the whole thing feels like something vomited up by some mindless AI trained on literary tropes with literally no idea what it's saying, let alone how those tropes must be restricted by things like physics or causality, particularly the stuff like stone buildings burning down, people travelling half-way across the galaxy and back as casually as if they were just walking into an adjoining room, and literally motiveless grand betrayals.
@SeaOfTides2 ай бұрын
@@tommcewan7936 It's true. I asked Microsoft Copilot to "create a woke film script in the style of Star Wars" and it printed out stuff that's indistinguishable from Disney Star Wars. Everyone should try. We can laugh at the results here. My favourite part of the script I got out of Copilot was: "Ayla and her team return to the Galactic Alliance, where they are honored for their bravery. The film ends with a hopeful message about the power of diversity and unity in overcoming challenges." I also liked: "Ayla confronts Darth Vex, emphasizing the importance of unity and understanding."

Here's another excerpt or two from that script I got out of Microsoft Copilot: Star Wars: The New Dawn, Scene 3: Assembly of the Team. Ayla, a young Jedi Knight of mixed heritage, is sent on a mission to investigate the disturbances. Ayla meets her team, including Kara, a non-binary pilot, Zara, a Twi'lek engineer, and Ryn, a former stormtrooper seeking redemption. (I asked Copilot which heritages Ayla has, and it came up with half human half Mirialan. I asked for a picture of that, and got a black girl with a giant afro. I asked for Ryn's description and got "hispanic"). Kara: (Smiling) “Hey, Ayla. I’m Kara, your pilot. My pronouns are they/them. Ready to take us wherever we need to go.” Ryn: (Nervously) “I’ve got a bad feeling about this.” Scene 4: Mysterious Force. Ayla's team travels to a remote planet where they encounter oppressed locals. Scene 6: Sith Battle. Darth Vex seeks to exploit divisions within the Galactic Alliance. Ayla and her team stand at the entrance of a dark, foreboding temple. (I asked for Vex's description and was told "Human White Male, Late 40s". I asked for a better Vex and Copilot gave him a combat droid). Ayla: (Determined) “We stand united, stronger than you can imagine.” Kara: (Raising their blaster) “We won’t let you tear us apart.” Ayla: (Focused) “I fight for peace, for unity. That’s something you’ll never understand.”

It's not so much that Disney owns them than that critics depend on being invited to events, given access to content and being part of the professional circles to work. To do that, they need to stay the heck away from sensitive talking points because the far left famously loves eating their own for even the slightest misstep. So once a show has been deemed "progressive", they can't afford to be critical until the tide turns. They have to wait for general sentiment to signal that it is okay to dislike the show before they can actually level criticism. Until then it's stunning and brave because anything else means they lose their job. If they hop in too soon, they get excluded. No more invites, no access, no quotes and links. Might even get removed from the list entirely so that their ratings no longer appear on rotten tomatoes to begin with. Not defending them, mind, caving to this nonsense means that their output is essentially worthless for the intended purpose of telling people if a show is worth watching, but there are reasons other than blatant bribery that they all tend to follow the same notes.

I wouldn’t say it’s THAT bad when it comes to production, but it’s really bad when it comes to writing and lore. They just put in Yoda and Plagueis and Ki Adi Mundi to give themselves any connection to Star Wars. So many small, annoying errors like saying mekneks are doing the jobs that R2 units are for, when it’s any kind of astromech droids, not just specifically R2’s. That’s how stupid these people are, they just write down things they have no understanding of, and since R2 is the only droid they’ve ever seen, must be that…

I think this show is coming from a specific socio-philosophical point of view. When a cop tells a guy "Stop reaching for your pants" fifteen times, and then shoots the guy when he reaches for his pants, there's a certain segment of the population that view the cop as the villain of the story. This show was written by people that think if a lesbian space witch turns into smoke monster and starts vaporizing her daughter, and is then killed, that this killing is a completely unjustifiable action. Except normal people look at this sequence of events and go "Yep, I would have put her down as well." The writers of this show fundamentally don't understand the nature of perceived threats and their logical consequences.

Apparently Osha can find it in her heart to understand and forgive the Sith that murdered multiple innocent Jedi just doing their jobs, including an old friend of hers and one that she was starting to develop a bond with… But the second her old master, that cared for her for much of her life, turned out to be responsible for her mother’s justified death over a decade ago, suddenly she wants to force choke him to death. So he stabs the witch and she goes "b-but I was gonna let Osha go…" instead of starting with that instead of acting hostile then turning into fog Baphomet while her other daughter is burning in a room. Mother Aniseya is in motion to transform into something resembling the Mind Flayer -- a move positively threatening in appearance 5. Sol stabs her in self-defence 6. She dies saying she was simply going to consent??? How did folk at Lucasfilm go over this and say, "Nah! It'll be fine!"? Did no one ask: "Why does she have to do the transformation thing instead of simply consenting?"? Additionally, how does Lucasfilm expect us to perceive the Jedi as bad through this sequence of events?

That way their ambiguous and nihilistic worldview can pat itself on the back and substitute itself for what was previously "paternalistic" (in a good way). These people seem to despise any sort of objectively decent viewpoint that doesn't accord with their highly revisionist views. They'd say that's "nuance". Said this in another forum and again here: Torbin is a great character in that his story is actually the perfect allegory for the audience experience: Dragged into a task for 7 weeks without a clue as to why we’re here or what we're supposed to do. All we want is to desperately go back home to the Star Wars we know and love. Disney (aka Jedi Council) says we’ve got to stay because…reasons. So when we see a hint of a decent lightsaber battle, off we go on our speeders to snag that elusive vergence of old Star Wars thinking maybe this is the point our fortunes change. But no, our desperate hope is swatted down by Headland mindgames with the next three episodes. At the end of it, we leave, shell-shocked and vowing to never speak of this abomination of a show ever again. When 16 years later, someone asks us to recount our experience of the Acolyte we'd happily take the poison rather than dredge that crap up again. Raise your glasses to the story of Torbin. He took one for the team.

So let me get this straight. The main character kills her father figure who loved her unconditionally and whose only flaw was that he desperately wanted connection. She then puts all her trust in a man she has known for a couple days who was previously with her twin sister, convinces her that she is sooo much more special than her, kills multiple people in front of her in cold blood while mocking their deaths, and whose LEAST concerning flaw among the litany of them is that he also desperately wants connection. He then proceeds to completely sever all her ties with her biological family by erasing their memories of her so they can run away together. Did I just witness literal abuse?

the craziest thing about Sols death/character arc in general is that you get the impression that Leslie and the rest of the creative team thought that we as an audience would be championing his failure and eventual “comeuppance.” it’s the same way many have pointed out that Han Solo’s death in TFA is normally the sort of death you reserve for a VILLAIN character, not the hero of the story. (getting stabbed, falling off a freakin’ cliff into an explosion, etc.) The bottom line is, while flawed, Sol is arguably the most morally upstanding character in the series, and even a decade ago would easily be portrayed as a heroic figure at the least, and the protagonist of the story at most. You can almost feel how this whole episode they’re attempting to frame him as a traitorous “Peter Pettigrew i deserve what’s coming to me” type, when in reality- Weasel boi betraying him, Osha/Mae choking him out, and the entire freaking Jedi order throwing him under the bus just ends up leaving a bitter taste in the audiences mouth. Long story short: I’m sick of Heroes getting punished in these stories. #SolDidNothingWrong

This show went through a multitude of reshoots and rewrites. My theory is Sol was portrayed much worse but they didn't have the spine to go through with their own story idea that nobody wanted to see anyways (the Jedi being bad) so instead they rewrote it all to be a confused mess with no real villain.
