Still PLENTY of good sci- fi shows about! There's more to Life than just these franchises by the way! Yes I was into them too... But as GenX, I've learnt to be Stoic in the face of Inevitable Change! And have simply moved on! My advise? Go check out other shows! And leave these ones behind! You might actually find better shows out there for one... At some point during the publicity tour Fight Club was mentioned (Disney's Frozen also frequently mentioned) which has sparked various unlikely theories with people attempting to write better stories in their own heads than this show could ever possibly deliver. Star Wars was inspired by old sci-fi serials which told straight forward stories, there should be no flashbacks, and even attempting to tell overcomplicated non-linear stories is a fundamental mistake and misunderstanding of Star Wars.

I totally agree with you about the bad-writing "crime/mistery" story. Is not even close to Columbo-style kind of mystery - for those reading these but are too young to know: Columbo was a highly successful TV series in 70s which introduced an unique style of crime/mistery storytelling: the crime happen in the first 5 mins of the episode and the viewer knows exacly who commited it, how it commited, why it commited, who was involved; the rest of the episode the viewer is watching the main character, the detective Columbo, trying to discover and put together the puzzle pieces, basically a cat-mouse game. Well, so far the Acolyte is not even this.

I grew up on Star Wars. Saw 1-6 in the theater (yes I'm THAT old). Loved the OT, liked the prequels. When I saw Farce Awakens, Star Wars was dead to me. That movie was objectively stupid, and yet it made 2 billion. I knew then that Disney now had the same audience from the citizens in the movie Idiocracy. The one explanation for a mystery and for killing off al the characters would be if they go back to the past with the mystery being the death of OSHA's mothers. That is is fact a mystery at this point. Not that I think there is enough intelligence involved to write something like that, but it does have a very classic mystery feel with the characters seen being killed off before we get to go back and see what they did to deserve that.

There are two basic murder mystery formulas: 1) The audience doesn't know the killer and joins with the detective(s) putting together clues to figure it out. 2) The audience knows the killer, who has also crafted an alibi, and watches how the detective(s) figure it out, aka Columbo style. This show does neither and robs the audience of any level of participation.

there are 2 kinds of murder mysteries... the "whodunit", where you don't know who the killer is and you want to figure it out before the main characters do, and then there's the "howcatch'em"... where YOU (the audience) know who did it, but the story is in how the main characters figure it out. I once saw a wonderful youtube video discussing this topic, and it used the old "Columbus" tv series as an example of the "howcatch'em" format.

When the access media pens flattering articles about a show these days you know it’s going to suck. They only care if the show matches their agenda. They don’t care about the actual qualities that a series needs to be successful. Things like A well crafted story that hooks the audience where events happen for logical reasons and not just to move the story along, a quality cast to bring life to well written characters whose motivations are at least somehow logical to the audience dont matter to access media.

SPOILERS AHEAD: I've not seen any of this, and I don't plan to. but I HAVE seen several commentaries about Carrie Ann Moss being promoted but then immediately killed off. hearing about it reminds me when Maggie Q was in the Divergent series of films (I'm a huge Maggie Q fan...). while I saw her in some (or all?) of the trailers and read numerous articles about how she was going to be in the franchise, it turned out that she had a fairly small role. a friend who had read the books kept telling me, "oh, yeah! Tori Wu has a HUGE story arch! just wait...). so, I went to see the films in the theater, and I waited... and waited. and then, in the last movie.... she was killed about 10 minutes in! I was PISSED!! I just got up and walked out of the theater.

I'm a Star Wars guy, I have to say that the motives behind the films is what's making them suck. They focused more on diversity, gay and female than the actual star wars story. We are supposed to be watching an era of the strongest most structured Jedi. Honestly they seem more confused. They could have never told the world it's the gayest cast until after. I guess they'll say your a "bigot" too hah their go to response to anyone that doesn't like the show. Its sad really they cant take criticism. To call it a murder mystery when there legit is no mystery. Its just sad to see what Disney has done to star wars, but it seems whatever they touch these days has some short of woke agenda to it as their main focal point.... Only things ill accept as canon at this point is episodes 1-6, clone wars and bad batch. maybe Andor, Mandalorian and Ashoka as at least that had some input from George and his apprentice Dave Filoni. Everything else is fan-made BS.
