If you all think a red lightsaber just makes somebody a sith, then yall need to read up on star wars. People are jumping the gun big time, there could be many explanations or outcomes. Mundi could've just been overexaggerating the time it's been, the red saber user could simply not be a sith, as theory said the witnesses could die or the ones who survive don't even know what a sith is to report it, it could be a flashback to a further back time, a vision/trick on the mind and they aren't actually fighting anybody. Actual film dialogue confirms the jedi believed the sith were extinct, but Yoda even admits they have been blind for a long time. Insinuating the Sith have not been extinct, but rather the jedi were unaware which they were. Palpatine was around for a while before the jedi caught on.

Is this really canon breaking? One can be a dark force user and be a bad person without being a sith. A sith isn’t just a bad force user. It’s a lifestyle, a way of life. It’s just like how a force user isn’t necessarily a Jedi. The logic doesn’t make sense to me that a bad force user must be a sith when that’s not what a sith is. A sith follow a code and a lifestyle. I think they cleaned out all the "independent dark siders" regularly. The darth title was made to invite challengers. Its just like grey jedi. Not everyone with a red blade is a sith. Kylo Ren, red blade, not a sith. Sure, he may have been a Vader wannabe, but not a sith. Asaaj Ventress, red blades, not a sith (of which there is only 2, palps and Maul at one point and palps and dooku). Inquisitors, red blades, not sith. There might be evil light saber users who bleed their crystals red, but are they really sith per lore? If not, this isn;t really the plot hole some think it is.

​@@codysias2265An acolyte is the term used to either call someone a follower or practitioner of a certain religion, or an assistant to someone else. Whoever THE ACOLYTE is and based on what we know of the show's story from the show runners, they are obviously a practitioner of one of the religions that use the Dark Side in some sense and are clearly an enemy of the Jedi considering we see THE ACOLYTE attack the Jedi in a few scenes from the trailer. This narrows the field down quite a bit considering few Dark Side religions actively oppose or combat the Jedi. The only other Dark Side religion that could possibly contend with the Jedi at this point is the Nightsisters of Dathomir, and they do not care for attacking the Jedi outright nor do they care about the going-ons in the rest of the galaxy. The Nightsisters are also not more powerful than the Jedi and use tactics of assassins that keep them hidden from their enemies, such as making themselves invisible and using poison darts to weaken other Force-users. So yes, the most obvious answer is that THE ACOLYTE is connected to the Sith Order in some fashion. It doesn't mean that she IS a Sith Lord but she is still working for them and assisting with their plans, which makes her an agent or assassin for the Sith. This is no different than what Maul was before the death of Plagueis, as he was utilized as an assassin too and only christened as a Sith Lord by Sidious when he killed Plagueis in his sleep.

The Jedi could be like most governments of the world, deny the try, cover ups, demonize people who expose the lies and eventually convince some of their own to believe their lies. Also the Sith (other than a couple of exceptions) don’t care about morals/rules, that’s kind of their thing so I think we too often forget that when considering the RULE OF 2..

If they’re smart. But it would also better explain the so-called Jedi being marauders with that village they’re supposed to make a deal with; a Force Sensitive child in exchange for protection. Even Jedi critics before the Acolyte have *never* pointed to an instance where Jedi Knights may act like mobsters requesting protection money, or Jedi making deals. It’s not the same and arguably worse than the usual bs that’s been said about the Jedi. If those dealmaker Jedi turn out to be Dark Jedi, it would better fit. Unfortunately, it likely won’t happen, cause the writers are very insistent on making the Jedi the villains of the story and selling this idea that the code has somehow been wrong or devastatingly flawed for literally over a thousand generations.

Here’s a Star Wars theory for you. It was Yoda that covered up the Jedi murders and the existence of the Sith during this time period. He thought knowledge of their existence maybe would bring fear to the peace that was established for centuries. This would make his failure to stop Palpatine more tragic. He had knowledge of sith coming back but choose to ignore it. He underestimated Palpatine and how he used the rule of two to conquer the galaxy.

Acolyte just means someone who assists a leader, usually in a religious sense. The Jedi in the trailer said "someone is killing jedi". They made no mention of them being a sith. It could be a bounty hunter for all the council cares. If the Sith have been gone a thousand years the jedi are gonna deny any evidence they've returned. Windu tells Qui'gon to his face he's mistaken. Even if she is, the council can just deny it and then continuity with the prequels is maintained. Easy peasy.

Actually, no! Even in UE Tenebrous trained 3 sith apprentices (one weak, Plagues, and Veramis a spare for Plagues). Even in the canon Plagues was still alive when, Sidious trained Maul and probably made him a sith with the approval/knowledge of Plagues. (also Dooku working as a dark sider from 42 to 32 bbc)

The Rule of Two is a MUST trait for the Sith post-Bane era., Id think they are going for a heirarchy thing, the top being The Master and The Apprentice, the lower ladder being The Acolyte, which is basically "an apprentice of The Apprentice" Notice how Palpatine remains The Master while his apprentices like Count Dooku took in Ventress while in EU, Vader has Starkiller but none of them were successful. The way I predict, the only Acolyte who succeeded in climbing the ladder must be Palpatine

Either to test the current apprentice, as you mentioned, in order to establish the optimal set of Two Sith Lords, or it’s because the time of the Rule of Two was ending they knew their triumph over the Jedi was soon at hand lessening the need for the Rule.

There are 2 alternative approaches that leave everyone alive. 1. They aren't believed. They are given the same skepticism Quigon is given in ep 1. "They have been extinct for almost a mellenia", or in the words of Jocasta Nu, "they have such an active imagination". And given the arrogance and pride of the jedi order... that may work. 2. All evidence is explained away. Similar to how Palpatine explained away the stuff with Tup and Fives, blaming it on a parasite, the current dark lord could be in a high position of power to get information, and explain it like: "she apparently stumbled on a several thousand year old sith temple with some artifacts in it and fell to the dark side. An isolated incident." So there's ways to avoid a Rogue One ending. Granted it is unlikely that it's taken though.

This is the big problem with making stories set in this time period. The Sith were there, but only behind the scenes and completely undetected by the Jedi. To Theory's point, about all the witnesses dying, I would say that would be an insufficient excuse. If the Jedi know that somebody has killed a bunch of jedi, they send a bunch of jedi out to stop them, and then they all die, they're not just going to stop looking into it. In fact, that would just raise their concerns and result in them sending even more people to investigate, until they find whoever did this. This is the Jedi at the height of their power. Jedi being killed like this was not common at the time, and it would have set off massive alarm bells that the Sith may have survived, just like it does in Phantom Menace. Even if the writers had everyone involved killed by the end, and somehow not be able to alert the rest of the Order to what's happening, (which would be very hard to write in such a way as to not be super contrived), it would make the Jedi Order look monumentally stupid to just allow the person responsible to get away with this. Now, I've seen people saying they can get round this by making this new Sith character not a actually a Sith, but a Dark Jedi. This is a possibility, but I don't think that's the direction that they're going in, based on what we see in the trailer. The trailer states that some unknown person is going around killing jedi, and the Jedi are confused by this and think it "doesn't make any sense". A Dark Jedi is a person who was once a jedi, but has fallen to the dark side and left the Order. If someone had left the Order, the Jedi would be aware of that person still being around with force powers, see Count Dooku for the most obvious example of this. If someone suddenly starts killing a whole bunch of jedi, they'd probably immediately suspect that it was an ex-jedi doing it, since a Dark Jedi would be one of the very few people capable of doing this at the time. They wouldn't be having this type of confused reaction to somebody they know is an active force user outside of the Order. The rational Jedi response to that situation would be: "Oh, somebody is killing Jedi? We should check in on that person who left the Order a while back and would be capable of defeating Jedi in combat. Oh, they've turned to the dark side? Well that's unfortunate. Guess we have to kill them now." That's not the way the trailer made it seem like this story is going to play out. If that is what they're going for, then the Jedi look pretty stupid for not suspecting that the mysterious Jedi killer is a possible Dark Jedi. Regardless of if it's a real Sith, or just a Dark Jedi, the best case scenario is that this show will make the Jedi Order look incredibly stupid, and the worst case scenario is that it obliterates the continuity for the 15 millionth time. Either way, I'm not a fan.

A theme of the prequels is the jedi had become complacent and arrogant. Noone on the jedi council wanted to believe Qui-Gon at first when he said he had confronted a Sith. What if Carrie Ann Moss’s character and like 10 other Jedi are acting on this case, not wanting to alert Master Yoda until they know they are right, because the return of the Sith is a big claim to make. The Acolyte, or Tenebrus himself, end up killing them all in the end, but setting things up to make it look like they willingly left and deserted the Jedi, and these are some of the first of the “Lost 20.” (I think it’s 20, Dooku was number 20 right?)

Plagueis died at the events of The Phantom Mance. He was 115 at death.
