A final fun note on Elmer's time as a haunted house prop is that he apparently scared one boy so much that he would use him as inspiration when creating Skeletor for the He-Man franchise. Skeletor, ironically, being the only character who could give Elmer a run for his money in the "most bumbling criminal in history" department.

You left out one of the most interesting parts of Elmer's (after)life story! At one point when Elmer's body was still hanging in the haunted house, a young kid came across him and was scared out of his mind. The image of Elmer's desiccated face stuck with him, and he remembered it years later when he was tasked with designing the villain of a toyline/cartoon that Mattel was about to launch. That's right. Elmer here was the visual inspiration for Skeletor, from the Masters of the Universe franchise!

I love all the stories that are told on your various channels. But this one… I’m a big fan of the TV show 911. This week Halloween episode featured a mummified human being. He had a very similar backstory as to the one in the story. I know that the writers get their inspiration from different places and most of the time these are real life stories, but this just proves it. Great story and kind of feel bad for the guy, but at least like you said at the end, he’s finally resting in peace

Maine fact: A LOT of our wells naturally have a lot of arsenic. Given his father died of kidney failure (arsenic is specifically nephrotoxic) it wouldn't be difficult to assume that arsenic poisoning had a lot to do with his mental state as well. An acquaintance of mine grew up with well water with insanely high levels of arsenic, and he had two brain bleeds by the age of 10. Northern Maine is... well, they currently have the highest rate of abuse and neglect in the United States. They're messed up. Think children of the corn but with more anger, Nazis, and guns.
@maggiekelley259Ай бұрын
We actually almost had a huge release of arsenic after a "filter failure" but luckily it never made it to the public water supply, just one of the tanks. More like they were ignoring IT issues for years and finally something happened.
