Biggest difference NOT discussed on Russell. He is audibling putting the team in better positions than Fields. And 50 50 balls to Pickens is enough that defense now moves safety out of the box. Dudes that is huge.made it so Steelers can run the ball much easier.

Exactly. His command and cadence at the line of scrimmage was key. The offense had less penalties, and I think zero penalties in the 2nd half.

Russell Wilson can throw for 500, 4 TDs while riding a unicycle, and there are some people who will still try to diminish what he did

Everything stated here assumes Russ will play exactly like this and not get better with more in game chemistry and timing with the receivers. He hasnt played in forever, and he can still improve other the course of the season.

The Friermuth throw was ok? So I see leaving PFF didn’t make you any less of Steelers hating egg heads. That was a great throw. So was the Pickens touchdown. Haters

That’s because the coach that would call him out, Salah, was fired, and now he has full control without anybody giving him a hard time so basically he has no coaching!😎

I knew the media would find a way to diminish Wilson’s 260 yard 3 Touchdown game. Most points scored by the Steelers all year. Yes, Russell Wilson is back and will only get better after having no training camp reps and hardly any practice reps.

The steelers had 2 picks and 2 4th down stops that game. Russ had a couple nice throws but overall his stat line was definitely saved by a few hero catches
@mikereed1250
@mikereed1250 5 сағат бұрын
Yeah it can be both… Russ did start this game looking pretty rough, hitting the dirt at a couple guys’ feet. But then made some really great touch passes, the one to Freiermuth being just as nice as any. Collinsworth did a good job pointing out that Fields doesn’t throw balls like that, but gives you other tools.

I thought the Russell fields convo was spot on. Russ played well but he didn’t look like his prime. He put players in position to make plays and fields struggled with that the last two weeks. Fields works best with elite separators (Olave and Wilson in college) and this team has Pickens as a 50/50 contested catch guy. It makes sense Russell Wilson’s performance that was about the same as fields looked better because of these differences. Honestly the Steelers should be happy they have both and are probably the only team in the nfl that can ride a hot hand and contend

When he was talking to the press, the first thing Beenie Bishop said was they had been practicing the the hip shift all week. They watched enough tape of Rodgers going back to GB and knew they could bait him into throwing if he looked out of position. "It's crazy because the play that he made, on those two plays, he actually made those plays in practice" - Patrick Queen

You guys are bullshit...Luck beat the Jets by 22 points....50/50 balls also draws yellow flags. Keep up the hating, we love it. Fields moved to backup because he can't read a defence. Steelers are good going forward with Wilson as starter and fields as backup....while he learns the fine points.

Wilson before he snapped the ball showed that he had 2-3 plays he could go to while fields was going with what is called. One of the biggest play difference is the end of the game Wilson throws it to Calvin Austin and he isnt even close to being where he was throwing it to when Wilson goes to throw it….he threw it to where he new he was going to be and the open spot. Fields almost needs to see it to throw it.

Honestly, this feels more like portraying a narrative rather than analyzing the film compared to most of your guys work. Yes, Rodgers isnt all of a sudden washed and didnt have as bad of a game as it seems. Conversely, Russ did underthrow some of those deep shots to Pickens and those were amazing plays by the reciever. However, how can you punish Russ for throwing inaccurate passes to Pickens when we know Pickens is one of if not the best contested catch reviever in the NFL. Your making it seem like it was somehow a bad idea to throw to him on a 1 on 1 yet would encourage Fields to do so because he struggles to read the field. Wilson may not be his prime self anymore but he still is the better option because he actually seeks completions down the field and doesnt escape clean pockets all of the time. Fields is not leading a 37 point offense yesterday. Hell, they may have lost the game if not for those deep completions down the field. Those big plays opened up the ground game and the Jets couldnt really find an answer despite the inaccuracy by Russ
