If he is as elite as everyone says he is, it would be understandable that he has less TDs or yards, but having an increase in INTs has a lot to do with bad QB play. He should be able to adapt within reason to find ways to still play at a solid level if he is the "best by a mile". Drew Brees has done it. Brady has done it. Many QBs in the past have played well with below average offensive talent.
@silkyhank2 ай бұрын
@@HbAz783VYes, his receivers not catching the ball and falling down during the run so the defender can catch it is an indication of bad qb play. Just like last year when he had the fourth most interceptions but still had better stats than Jackson and still won the superbowl. But since you want to focus on turnovers, what do you think of all the "better" qbs continually fumbling the ball? Jackson has had 4 fumbles and 2 interceptions, Allen has fumbled 4 times and Burrow has fumbled 3 times and throw 2 interceptions. And they've all lost multiple games. But everyone wants to focus on Mahomes and his interceptions when he's proven his interceptions don't affect his ability to win games.
@silkyhank2 ай бұрын
Because he adopts to whatever he needs to do to win. If the passing game isn't working then he'll start making insane plays with his legs to get yards. If he had reliable receivers he'll make insane passes. He does whatever he needs to and doesn't let mistakes during the game prevent him from winning.
@HbAz783VАй бұрын
@@silkyhank But you're ignoring a few components. Not all of his INTs are due to issues with the receiving corp. He has made some terrible throws and every QB has receivers that make mistakes which turn into costly turnovers. More importantly you conveniently ignore the fact that KC is 4th in PPG against the strongest SOS in the league. Also, KC probably has the best ST in the league and best FG kicker currently, so as long as they get within the 40 it's almost certain they are getting 3 points. Regardless, it's funny how when Allen lead the league in INTs and still was winning people weren't giving him the same benefit of the doubt that people are giving Mahomes rn.

Poor nick is trying so hard to dance around the obvious. Chiefs have the greatest overall team ever, despite terrible QB play. Any other team has a qb with 6 tds and 8 interceptions with low yards would be 1 and 5 at best. This is killing the mahomes case of greatness.
@wakingforbacon64392 ай бұрын
No its not. One bad season is not gonna hurt mahoems greatness. He owns the playoffs. Whwre it really counts. The only place it counts. He is #1 in every category possible in the playoffs. All but bradys and he had longevity. But for the most part mahomes has dominated the league. If any other qb had mahomes team they still would be 1-5. Mahomes makes the plays when needed. Period. Thats the difference.

@wakingforbacon6439 Any other Qb this season would have had leads so it didn't come down to one play. He's just been bad this year. Overall up to this point he's been great. Any other team winning despite the qb playing that bad would be saying that all they need is a qb. He gets a pass

I've said it multiple times, even after his rookie campaign. Purdy landed in the best situation for a QB as a rookie and now without those 3 stars he has proved he is not the elite QB people claimed him to be. This isn't a Kyle problem, this is a QB unable to elevate the situation around him. I would not pay this guy $60 million a year, but as a Seahawks fan, it would be fun to watch them handcuff themselves to him financially and watch their roster depth fall.

@laurelstromer40412 ай бұрын
Wildes referenced the "Mahomes' sideline thing" and IMO, that needs to be addressed by the league rules committee. There was a big uproar about Darnold's "late slide"and the subsequent "defender fly over" in the Vikes/Lions game. The defense is handcuffed when QBs run along the sideline, especially if the defender is parallel to or chasing the QB from behind. If the defender commits to the tackle because the QB is running within a yard of the sideline and the QB steps out,THEN gets hit, it's going to be another 15 yards even though when the defender committed, the QB was in the field of play. If the defense is given somewhat of a pass because there's such a thing as a "late slide" then there needs to be a "late step out". Looked to me like the 49ers were afraid to touch him during that run for fear of a penalty. I think Mahome's knows it and he's using that to his advantage. Mahomes did the exact same thing in that playoff or Super Bowl game.
