They're not the same, but adachi still cooler. You got the psycho bastard who fakes being an upstanding citizen and murders people because he never got a fair chance and wants revenge , and the psycho who never got to reach said top and wasted his life trying to satisfy other's expectations who faked being an incompetent dumbass and murdered out of boredom and protest against society. Akechi completely integrates in society hoping to be accepted and praised through his successes and clearly has talent that he misuses, adachi ended up trying to not stand out and rejecting society as he gave up on being praised and having success thinking he was talentless. If they talked to each other they'd be both mocking their own faults and patheticness.

1:22 what do you mean hes pretty relatable when hes like that adachi is always relatable and based ok but jokes aside adachi is probably one of the best villains in video games or even fiction i hope hes playable in a future persona game released on account of no evidence of his crimes but instead gets forced to work with the shadow operatives to destroy shadows

Excellent analysis, I just have to disagree on the bit about him always being mediocre and always taking shortcuts, in the animation movie we learned he worked hard and aced in his police studies but was sent in inaba by higher ups which have made him bitter about his job... so yes he was isolated but not really that incompetent he has the smae potential in learning as Yu but didnt grow his bonds like the protagonist...

akechi was a tragic villain who was a victim of circumstance and went down a dark road as a result…adachi on the other hand blamed society for his own failures despite never making a meaningful effort towards improvement and settled on a point of view that was completely thorough his own ineptitude…i can’t possibly conceive how people think adachi is a more interesting/complex character than akechi💀

Akechi is one of the dime-a-dozen villain that you see everywhere in fiction along the lines of ''man my life was so hard and painful, so I became evil and did fucked up shit! Aren't I so relatable guys?'' while Adachi is a much more interesting character that takes the everyday man archetype and to twist it into a nihilistic and bored serial killer. While we don't actually see his gradual transformation, we see enough in the anime and game to understand the things he goes through aren't some sort of traumatic background or big event that changed his life. It's just a gradual stream of shit burdening his shoulders until he can't take the weight anymore. He is one of the most relatable and realistic villains in Persona because he is a completely normal guy who just couldn't cope with the way his life had turned out. He tried his absolute best to excel, only to not succeed and fade into mediocrity due to circumstances outside his control. It would be best to consider him a cautionary tale of sorts in what NOT to do.

@@anusaukko6792 adachi is a dime a dozen villain back in the day where villains were evil for no reason…both archetypes have been overdone to death whether it was in the 20th or 21st century…just one is more compelling while another tries to be realistic in a literal video game…that’s the problem

And Adachi was a grown ass man trying to hit on and beef with a high schooler (Saki and Yu). At least Akechi was around the protagonist's age (17-18) and he was abused as a child and forced into his job. How tf someone can grill the neglected teenager over the creep adult man is beyond me
