He had no ideology to speak of , God rest his soul . Ladoja’s crimes for instance were clear as day to him ; he was stingy with his loot , full stop . Our kind of politics remains a throw back to the old iron grip on power of our chieftains and elders .

Basically it was not what people want but whatever he decided back then, sadly the same scenario is repeating itself up until now being played by Tinubu. That is why poor masses will continue to suffer because they have no say in what concerns them. He was a thug during the time of Awolowo and co in the first republic just as Oluomo to Tinubu now

Zaramoku "illiteracy" means the inability to read or write in any language not just in English. So, what does that have to do with grammatical inaccuracy? You need to hear how "educated" Americans and Britons speak?

Titoscudd : Are you suggesting that reading, speaking, and writing in any language have no correlation between them? Come on, a person who speaks a language poorly would hardly write proficiently in that language. In any case, the definition of literacy was not the point I was making, I was expressing my disappointment that an interviewer could make such 2nd grade grammatical mistakes as he made.

Jide Otunba indeed ; but a fascinating insight into the political culture of his area of undisputed influence for so long .
@osio.23915 жыл бұрын
@Jide Otunba, I agree entirely with your comment. I just stumbled on this video in March 2019! Looking at the recently conducted elections in Nigeria which was nothing but a sham. It is obvious that men like the late Alhaji Adedibu with his intelligence and confidence, contributed in no small measure to the dysfunctions and the mess in our political system! The institutionalization of thuggery, violence and killings were his hallmarks. Prior to watching this video, I had always considered him to be nothing but an illiterate thug! As much as I was impressed with his responses and articulation, I was saddened that if only he had used his influence as a political heavy weight or "political kingpin", to ensure that those voted into the highest office of governor of Oyo State fulfilled their mandate to develop the state and improve or elevate the living standards of the impoverished masses of Oyo State, then he would have really left a positive legacy! But this old rascal in this interview was proud and not ashamed at all to admit living off the state by being on the payroll of the office of the governor, and expected to be settled always by any incumbent Governor. As a governor, you became his enemy if you refused to honor his demands for money gratification whenever he maked a demand! In Nigeria, people do not go into politics to serve and improve the standard of living of their people, but to serve themselves. Our understanding of governance is so warped and twisted. Occultic men and women who have mortgaged their souls to the devil are the people holding political 8offices and positions in Nigeria. This man Adedibu, and the likes of Busari Adelakun were the forerunners of the sort of violent politics still in existence in Nigeria, with the use of thugs and hired killers on the political landscape of Nigeria. Tinubu, Oshiomole, Okorocha etc are following the footsteps of a man like Adedibu.Despite the endowment by God in terms of both human and natural resources on Nigeria, the country has been reduced to a state of comatose and utter degradation by the inept and corrupt poltical leadership. I left Nigeria for the US in 2008, a year after this video was made and the country is still a mess. Rwanda and Ethiopia both are landlocked countries have made tremendous strides in terms of infrastructural developments and progress in their countries. This two countries do not have one tenth of the resources of Nigeria the so called "giant of Africa". So sad and unfortunate.
