I was in harriman state park for the 90% blockage. Still cool with an amazing temperature drop.

I was there!!! I did a sunrise hike up Wright peak. Got back to the lodge about 8:30 am. Went back to the hotel and got the wife and kiddies and drove north to Vermontville. Where there was a nice park with a playground for the kiddos. We had a great view with no clouds!!!! It was great. Then the drive home. It took 4 hours to get from lake placid to the thruway. What’s normally a four and a half hour drive took over 11 hours.

Love it! I followed your channel after we met briefly a few years ago (Sept 2020) at Feldspar camp site, when I think you were trying for some record and had just descended from Mt Colden in the dark. Indeed there's nothing like seeing a total eclipse from a mountaintop. I was lucky enough to see the 2017 eclipse from the summit of Glover Peak in the Wind River range of Wyoming, which was stunning. And last week I was able to see the eclipse from near Burlington and saw the snow-covered summits of the Adirondacks disappear into shadow, maybe a second or two before we hit totality.

Still a great story!

Only you could pivot that quickly, send it up Mt Jo (after somehow finding parking- I was waiting for you to say you ran from 73!) and still get these images! Absolutely amazing!

Excited to see how it went for you! I had a shot planned at Taughannock Falls in the finger lakes, but all I got to see were clouds 😭

Came here right after listening to you on the 46 of 46 Podcast. Great work -- beautiful images and b-roll with little to no planning! I drove past the Adirondacks on the way back from catching the eclipse in New Hampshire. Was wondering if the skies stayed clear because I knew the forecast was iffy.

We went originally going to go for a higher peak but ended up at tiny little Bald. I have a cardiac condition and a service dog in training who is used to hiking with me. Even with his help and my partner with me, there’s always a risk. When we heard all the notices of “emergency help will be short handed. You may be on your own.” As you can imagine, that made high climbs a no go. We got to Bald at 9am and got the LAST spot we could squeeze my van into. Took us 2 hours to get there but unbelievably almost 5 hours to navigate those same roads back. Did we enjoy the people blasting music through the eclipse? Not really. Did we like getting tripped by someone pushing past us on the way down so they could get to their car sooner? No. I slid nearly 20 ft my husky luckily at my side and my partner catching me before I lipped over one of the edges. Did we love the crazy amounts of trash left behind? The people laughing at the older lady waiting on rescue from trying to get around someone refusing to move their picnic set up from the middle of the trail? Nope. But if anything, I found a new appreciation for my home. For all of us local to the ADK who care for the trails year around. For my neighbors who preserve these mountains together. For every person who comes here not for an event, but to take in the year around beauty. I almost forgot how amazing we mountain NYers are. Even if it took half my backpack filled with other peoples trash to remember, I don’t regret even a moment of it. I’m glad to hear you all made it safely through the eclipse! I was a little worried for every hiker I know going out with so many reckless people there. Here’s to many more mountain climbs to remind us of the miracle we got to witness!!!

Beautiful video. Looks like you've learned the value of improvising at the last minute. I also was quite surprised at the crowds at Schroon lake. It was mobbed. Excellent video with excellent camera work.

Hey Jonathan! Great video!! Appreciate the aerial shots as well! As a local, I had to work. Yet, I was able to see outside my window and witness the totality-so fu**king cool! 🤩

Sorry the airplane didn't pan out. There's a lunar eclipse coming in March if you think it's worth flying at night..

You're lucky you got something to work out. Some people/situations don't.
