There are a lot of videos on knots like these but I just wanted to mention my favorite part of your videos is the knowledge you bring on the what and why. Thank you sir!

You are welcome. I always like to bring context to these videos so I am glad you enjoy that part. Lots of neat stuff in the rope world.

My thoughts ran along similar lines, if you'll pardon the pun.

As a prepper, I can see the advantages you demonstrated of this particular arrangement. It's unusual, as most channels only show how to tie knots and hitches without covering their possible uses. Thanks for uploading!

Try a double fisherman's knot in place of Fig 8 knot. Also if you tie purcell 1st then feed untied ends through prusic, the ends will go through easier

Any idea of how much cordage would be needed to make x-length sling? I’m an arborist and I could see using this as a quick and dirty diy “Loopie” sling. I’m just wondering if there’s a formula that would tell me if I want a 2-4 foot adjustable Purcell, I start with 12 feet of rope. Something like that.

I don't really have a formula for that. If you use it for climbing for example the lengths are going to be determined by your body. A loopie sling size is going to be determined by the range of tree trunks you encounter. I would probably start with a random length of cheap utility rope and fine tune it from there for your needs. Once you've dialed in your length make one or two with your expensive lines. When I made my 6 mm system for climbing I went from mid chest to bottom of foot for one leg and inseam to ground for the other. And a third simple loop for the harness that measured from top of head to navel. Good luck!

It would be easier to tie the prusick first and BFK last OR use a dbbl fisherman

I'm not dogmatic about any of this stuff except not getting hurt. Your idea could absolutely be a better idea for some. Lots of ways to accomplish the same goal so thanks for lending your perspective.
