The Adventures of Ozzie And Harriet is a well-renowned show even here in Europe, and deservedly so. I only wish that real-life family life really was like this! God Bless all of my fellow Boomers, getting older sure isn't for the weak!

We had some neighbors who emulated the Nelsons in every way imaginable. One day a padded wagon pulled up and they hauled all four of them them off in straight jackets. We never saw them again after that.

In real life Ozzie was a bandleader. On the show he was more or less retired.

@@MrMenefrego1 He had a law degree but never practiced law. In his younger years he had a passion for creating, producing and performing music and put together his own big band. He incorporated comedy skits into his performances. When he grew weary being on the road with a growing family he went into writing, producing, directing and performing in a sitcom in which he and his wife portrayed themselves, first on radio, then on TV and radio, then on TV only. When the boys were old enough they were added to the cast when the show was still only on radio. He was never an advertising agent in real life nor in the sitcom. Some will say he was. He was not. He played a character that was supposed to have had an ad agency in a movie which is almost unknown and was a box office flop.

He's suppose to be a lawyer, but it isn't mentioned on the show. In real life, he studied to be a lawyer at a university, but after graduating, he went into music, leading his own orchestra and creating a number one hit (1930s). He and his future wife, Harriet, ended up being entertainers on a radio program. When the host was called into military service, as it was now WWII, it opened up the opportunity for Ozzie and Harriet to have their own radio sitcom, which eventually came to TV. Ozzie was an astute business person who secured a 10-year deal with CBS-TV for their sitcom. He was also producer, director, and writer for their TV show. And as for Harriet, she seemed to be a wonderful person, an individual with wit, intelligence, and good ol' common sense! I admire her display of wisdom, as shown on their various programs. (As an aside, apparently Ozzie Nelson published an autobiography; I've never come across it.)
