I can see where the $100 million went in Pluto Nash. From all the cameos to the "cgi" and all the sets. Nobody can has been able to explain how Tyler Perry's Boo 2 cost $30 million dollars when it was shot on an og iPhone. For reference, District 9 cost $30 million

Pluto Nash is one of those rare comedies that there is jokes in the film but none of them are clever, original or funny. Almost of the cast looked bored or like they don’t want to be there apart from Rosario Dawson who is trying. Such a strange enigma in the world of comedy

I’m bisexual and I think it’s funny in Delirious and RAW how he made all those homophobic jokes while wearing something that was probably popular in WeHo back in the day. I know Murphy and Michael Jackson were good friends back then, but did he ask him to borrow the suit he wore in Thriller? But in all seriousness, He knew what he did back then was wrong and has apologized for it.

I have a soft spot for it because there is very little science fiction that fills this “mundane space SF” niche.. I mean sort of hard SF or at least not fundamentally ruled out by fantasy requirements, but also about people rather than just a vehicle to explore some dry and speculative concept.. “Planetes” was another example at least in the early episodes. For sure, it didn’t look like a $100m movie though.

There are bombs that lost more total money, but in terms of percentage of the budget that the movie made back, Pluto Nash looks like it's the biggest percentage flop of all time. Worldwide $7 million on a $100 million budget. The only worse performing one is 1997's Lolita, $1.1 million on a $62 million budget, but that was due to very few distributors wanting to touch it. Pluto Nash was a huge nationwide release and still bombed that hard. You really can call it the biggest box office bomb of all time.

I found Rat Race pretty enjoyable. It's almost like a modern Mad Mad Mad Mad World. I do mean almost because it's definitely not as insane and big as Mad Mad Mad Mad World. But for what it was trying to do I think it did it pretty well. The beginning dragged on a bit and the ending was pretty mundane. But the entire actual race in the middle is a complete fun watch if you like crazy slapstick like I do.

(But everyone who's actually seen and review it will tell you it's just generic. The shootouts and fights are actually relatively well done, easy to make out which already puts it above a couple action movies.) With the continuing look at Eddie Murphy movies, I wonder if we'll get to "Meet Dave (2008)"? Proably the most harmless movie he's released around that time, I like it because of nostalgia

One of the barometers of a healthy society is its comics and the freedom they have to make people laugh. They can be offensive, they can be vulgar but if they can't speak freely and fairly, that society has lost the ability to laugh at itself. That is never a good sign. But they'd better be funny if they're all those things I mentioned.

I really want to see Eddie Murphy do a buddy/action/comedy with Chuck Jeffries. Something where the bodyguard’s mistaken for the talent and vice versa. Since Murphy’s basically relegated to streaming, nowadays, it could happen.

This is a movie that I think Eddie was obligated to make but ma'am as bad as it is me and my brother still laugh at it. I swear, " what's plan b Tony" 😂😂😂

I used to watch this movie ALL the time with my sister as a kid. All I remember is the acid that made the guy a better singer and the plastic surgery bit. That’s it. And I know for a fact I watched this movie a dozen times on HBO. 😂

Bout time with this one boy 🤣 🤣. Also, I'm kind of glad y'all brought up Murphy's past stand up as I've been wondering how some gen zers might respond to some of his openings jokes about gay people in Delirious especially if they have no knowledge about how causal it was call them maggots with an F back then 🤔. Heck I thought y'all were gonna show the part where he said he didn't want them looking at his butt on stage and then he ironically shows off his butt later in the special lol. Lastly, yes some young people should know who Mr T is through pop cultural literacy 🤔.

I was born 1990 and my brother in 94'. I was 12 when we found the VHS of delirious. We watched it over and over again and kept screaming ice cream! And we would do a clint Eastwood impression every time about eating ice cream off the floor and the shoe, belt because we were still getting whooping! Good times. We saw raw when we finally got good internet access.

I saw this in theaters with my dad when it came out, I was older than 8 and liked a few jokes but yeah my dad didn't like the film and he really enjoyed Eddie Murphy movies we watched Beverly Hills Cop 1 and 2 all the time among others films, but man after this I don't think we saw another Eddie Murphy film in the theaters and my dad passed away roughly tens years after this film came out. Any other new Eddie Murphy movie he waited until they the came out on VHS or waited for the tv premiere, it left that kind of taste in his mouth.
