Ah absolute bliss! This was opening sequence when it played on TV. Different on Netflix and DVDs
@Mesterius12 жыл бұрын
When it played on TV in Canada, the United States etc., yes. Europe always had a different version of the intro, which is the one seen on Netflix and the European DVD editions. The above version can be seen on Shout! Factory's American DVD edition, as well as on many episodes of Universal's Canadian DVDs.

Netflix has a remaster. Someone smoked a ton of crack and decided the release of the 2011 animated movie was enough reason to "remaster" the series. At least for the Belgium and the Netherlands it is now in 1080P but 95% of all voices got a new cast and the intro butchered. A total disgrace compared to the 90s version which was like a breath of fresh air while compared to most 90s cartoons for having a more serious tone and style. I even dare to go as far as saying this series comes very close to Batman TAS from the 90s.
@Mesterius12 жыл бұрын
@@Bram25 It's also 1080p on Netflix here in Scandinavia. But what do you mean by 'a new voice cast'? I haven't heard anything about more than one English dub ever existing for this series. As for the intro being "butchered": well, it's a digital HD recreation of the old French intro version from the 90s... obviously redone because the video effects of the original were mastered on standard-def tape. I think they could have done a better job of matching the original edits though. The cropping to widescreen doesn't help either. "I even dare to go as far as saying this series comes very close to Batman TAS from the 90s." Honestly, as much nostalgia as I have for the Tintin animated series, I don't think it comes close to the quality level of Batman: The Animated Series. Nor does it live up to the quality of the original Tintin comic albums (one of the best comics series ever made if you ask me).

@@Bram25 I did a comparison of the Canadian and French intro versions here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6SUXnaYq7uUZrs The French version is what the HD remaster on Netflix is based on.
@Bram252 жыл бұрын
@@Mesterius1 The Dutch version I remember and treasure uses the Canadian intro. They released it somewhere around half way in the 90s. In 2011 they released that Spielberg/Peter Jackson movie and someone decided that because HD remaster they also went the extra mile and the actors who spoke in the film for Flanders and the Netherlands also redid pretty much all voice work. (the 90s version had a very good cast but many foreign characters had those stereotypical accents. Captain Alan had this very thick American, Texan accent and other characters shared this trait. For me it was the first series with serious adventure, they used guns and Tintin was hit and stuff. Batman TAS came after that.

This intro is fine and has a lot going for it that encapsules the series' sense of adventure perhaps more than the European intro. That one however has better sound cues, and also the sound effects are removed. I am not a fan of sound effects in series intros. They distract from the music.

Goodness! I was born in 1996 but I caught the Tintin animated series when it aired reruns in the early 2000s in Australia. And this was the intro I got. Years later, I saw Tintin again and when I saw the intro, I thought something was off, but I dismissed it as my mind playing tricks. Turns out I was wrong. I had no idea there were two intros. And looking at them now, this intro is the one I prefer.

Which country/channel is this recording from? It's interesting that they actually removed the text from the title cards at 00:56-01:12 (and apparently replaced it with a custom-designed title card reading "Adventure of Tin Tin", rather than the well-known title "The Adventures of Tintin", at the very start).

This isn't fan made. It was the intro from when this series aired on TV in the 1990s, which in Australia means it was on ABC. The different intro is the new updated intro for the DVDs and Netflix. I bought the DVDs on eBay from Europe in 2004, saw the new intro, started wondering if these DVDs were pirated Bali knock-offs but all good
@Mesterius12 жыл бұрын
@@eriktreptow827 Actually, both versions of the Tintin intro stem from the early 90s originally. It's just that the version seen here was used in countries like Canada, The United States, Australia etc; while the other version with partly different scenes and no sound effects was seen in most European countries, France included. The series was a French-Canadian co-production, and obviously the production partners had different wishes for the intro. I did a comparison of the two intro versions here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6SUXnaYq7uUZrs Most likely the Canadian intro version seen here *is* the first to be made, though.
