Greg Dulli was a lyrical genius. Whigs best of the 90's!

I've always dismissed The Whigs as just another grunge band all this time. Now, I'm having a blast discovering them for the first time. They were a band ahead of its time.
@rondohunter89665 жыл бұрын
I've been on their wagon for a long time, don't even remember where I first heard them but quickly jumped aboard for a wonderful ride. First active in 1986 I was 30 y.o.(really? Dammit, yes.) in college I think. Probably on a late-night alt-rock station. At that time only a few companies owned all the radio and t.v. stations in our area. So the radio had a set playlist handed down from above and no one strays. So no rogue DJ doing his thing. Not more than once. But one station at 9 p.m. Sunday night let an alt-rock DJ bring in his own CD's and mixes and play them for three hours with only a few commercials. I actually met the alt-rock guy and burned a little herb with him. Man he was way ahead of times for this little podunk Cowford, FL.

I got into them through The Twilight Singers instead of the other way around. The Afghan Whigs are like the nineties band I set aside to discover and thoroughly enjoy later after all the other presents were opened.

I saw them play this in 1998. They started with the drumbeat, Dulli started singing Superstition as an intro before the band kicked in. Magic.
