I started watching this thinking the punchline would be a showdown with the Coast Guard and lots of attitude. What I got was the best safety tape ever. Very pragmatic. Every time you go out, something small can get you. Thankfully Judah is a check everything twice and expect Murphy’s law to creep in there kind of boater. Glad you’re all back safely. Good tip in comment on dog preservers.

Next time this happens peg the throttle while someone pulls the deck plate once that tapers have them pull the plug then everybody get to a secure location and get it on plane once you feel the drag is gone jump to the back and pop the plug back in (good idea at that point to tie the plug to something on the boat so it doesn’t take a dive). I had this happen to me along with two buddies 28 miles out when the weather took a turn anc the sea jumped up very quickly. It was wild how quickly it went from sunny with a slight breeze to 15-20’ swells and dark grey sky with 25 mph sustained wind. Turns out hurricane Ivan had danced around off Florida and turned completely around and took a northern track. I tied my buddy Mark’s leg to the captains chair and and instructed our other buddy to just sit tight and hold on and remember to breathe. When we first started the boat would stand straight up to the point of almost flipping but after about three of those dumping water from the deck plate we were able to pull the plug and get on plane and finally home!!!! Epic adventure that none of us will ever forget. Cheers to not freaking out and handling it like a captain should. Funny how quickly the decisions come to you when lives are on the line!!

So Might want to consider that the Failed clamp on the engine was allowing water to fill the lower engine cowling and was running back down the rigging tube and into the boat and that's why it took on so much water so quickly and changed the dynamics of boat so rapidly. Interesting that in the last video when FWC was at your dock in the shot you could still see water leaking slowly out of the bottom of the cowling. Also interesting that you too had a hot water discharge leak on your Merc. Friend of mine has New 300 V8 Mercs, a pair on a 32 Invincible. He has had no less than 5 hot discharge water leaks from multiple broken clamps and a cracked manifold on both engines when he only had 100hrs on them and the boat was only a year old. Boat spent a lot of time in the shop before they replaced all the clamps and a manifold. Finally no more water leaks. He had no codes either. The leaky hatches, and unsealed gunnel box contributed but from the look of how high the Rigging tube connection is on the outboard is V's where it is cut into the boat, I'd say that Merc's water leak was filling the hull. Those water pump above 1500 rpm move some water. Another thing to consider is buying a 2000GPH mobile pump that you wire up with at least your boat length in wire, a fuse & alligator clamps, as well as several feet of discharge hose. This makes it mobile to move from compartment to compartment as needed to de-water the boat. I have a 23 cat with 2 installed 1000GHP pumps and my 2000GHP mobile pump. And yes people check your bilge pumps and floats just like checking the oil or checking the fuel levels. It takes only a minute to do and is worth the time 1000 fold.

Was there a conclusion of what caused the bilge pumps to not work ? I would recommend replacing those plates with a higher quality screw in type, lubricated with rubber safe grease to ensure the seal. Screw in types are usually better at ensuring water does not get in. Second, I would make sure you have at least 2 bilge pumps so you have a backup system.

For a smaller boat, i don't even see the point of having a bilge area for water to collect, if it was filled in with spray foam to prevent any dead air space to begin with at the factory when it was made, sinking in salt water with sharks circling would give me a sinking feeling.
@CBostic923 жыл бұрын
May not be a bad idea to maybe keep 1 or 2 of the cheap hand pumps on board no more than they cost way cheaper than buying a new boat no doubt and more effective than cups 😂

I had never filleted a fish before (skinned plenty of catfish and scaled/gutted plenty of bluegill) and I started watching deermeatfordinner. I went to SFLA and my Sons caught a couple big croaker. Normally, with croaker I'd always just scale and gut and fry whole. But they were so big (2lbs+) that I decided it was time to try the art of filet. I wasn't confident, but it was a breeze to filet them after having watched so much footage of Rob Arrington filleting fish! Anyway, Great video series with the cruise ships, the po po and the Manta Ray... :) Cheers! btw, I just subscribed to your channel. Looking foward to checking out more of your videos.
