Boone, Valle Crucis, Foscoe, Seven Devils, Banner Elk, Linville, Spruce Pine, Burnsville, Swannanoa - my life in a list of towns that most don’t know. On the 27th of September, the water showed no mercy. Every time I think I’ve cried my last tears and I’m ready to “move on,” I’m reminded that grieving is a journey. Thanks for posting.

I had only heard of Boone before the flood, but after spending two weeks down there helping clean up I’ve either been to or heard of all those places 😢

Every bit helps! I am in Yancey County, too. Our home was spared. But, so many homes, vehicles, business and LIVES were lost. It will be a long time until things are "normal". Thank you for making this video. I watched it with tears streaming down my face. It really captures the reality of Helene and her destruction. But, more importantly, it captures the reality of the lives she affected.

I felt the depth of y'all's sorrow in every word. We have always believed our mountains protect us from terrible weather. The derecho of 2012 proved us wrong. Please keep sharing your experiences with this super devastating storm. People outside of the affected areas need to know what happened. Everyone affected needs to know we haven't forgotten and won't forget what happened with this unprecedented catastrophe. I hope one day the survivors's stories are compiled into a book or a series of books with photos of the destruction that happened and have all proceeds go into all the communties to help the people in their recovery. Praying for everyone affected by the evil hurricane Helene. 🙏 Love Melissa in the mountains of Virginia. ❤ Mountain Strong. 🫶

Please, no politics. I am a Dem, but human to human is what we can do to help in the ways we have to help.
@MrsRCopeАй бұрын
It’d be nice if it was not political, but. Sorry not sorry. the democrats don’t give a damn about these people if we’re simply basing it on their In-actions. They’re letting these folks fend for themselves. Losing their homes, their jobs, confiscating their land for pennies on the dollar, and now separating families. That’s ALL political. They NEED to feel the guilt over this one

Don't throw away the cardboard! For people in tents, put a tarp down, cardboard fashioned with duck tape, tarp over that, then the tent. The ground saps heat out. This will help. In the spring, you can layer cardboard over a garden you are making to stop the weeds, then dirt on top before you plant. Just make sure there is no plastic on the cardboard. As cardboard rots, it attracts worms. Please pass this information on to churches, etc. They have mountains of cardboard boxes they are throwing away. 1

Rand Paul the Republican Senator from Kentucky blocked aid for Hurricane Helene 2 days ago. Search Rand Paul blocked aid Hurricane Helene to learn more. I am sorry for the suffering and my heart is heavy but please try to find out why Senator Rand Paul is blocking federal funding.
@DeniseTerrell-oy5tmАй бұрын
So sad! I saw that. Everyone complaining the government is not helping. I wish people would have researched. Look up Trump and Biden history and you will see the mess Biden had to dig us out of. Gas is high because we are now oil dependent and don’t buy it from Russia anymore. We are drilling here more than ever.. I guess it’s the loudest, one that won? All these tariffs will put this country in a depression. Things are about to get way worse unfortunately.
@AstraLuna-o9iАй бұрын
If he is blocking it, it’s probably because the bill is not actually for aide for the people of NC but for gov contractors, or NGO’s who will misappropriate the funds and never set foot in these communities. Google FEMA Fraud, the name of an any hurricane of the past 2 decades. Natural disasters are a boon for the professional criminals in Washington.
@AdventureAwaits1111Ай бұрын
You need to listen to him speak. He was blocking aid to UKRAINE which was pork barreled into the disaster relief. More money went to Ukraine than NC. That is why he blocked it. He wants ALL the money to go to NC. So, while some will say he blocked relief, what he really blocked was more money to ukraine. The government is a tangled web of corrupt politicians....we are slowly weeding them out. From Rand Paul's history, I have a hard time believing he is not fighting for the best interest of the people. Anyone can change, so I listened and researched your claim and I do not see evidence supporting what you say. The details are important. *Link added for reference to what he actually said. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rHKoda15ZbabeaMsi=4-vsQOxyUEHuwTQv

Also Republicans in NC Senate passed a bill they were calling hurricane "relief." However only 13 of the 115 pages mention helene. And of the $1.3 billion of total funding the entire bill called for, only $250 million would go towards Helene. On top of that the $250 million would go sit in an "account" until the NC assembly decided where to put it.. essentially the bill was a power grab. The incoming governor is a Democrat so they were stripping power from him.
@NancyPatrick-N2528 күн бұрын
I watched this video and I have to say in all honesty . I kind of understand why he blocked it. This is about small business loans. Tax dollars for the gov. is what the issue is, basically . Paul is trying prioritize I believe. He may be thinking the people living in tents that lost everyting should be first. If that's what he is thinking, I agree. People before business

I don't know why people are worried. It's going to be Trump to the rescue. He said he's going to personally rebuild North Carolina with new jobs new homes everyone will be rich just like him 👌🏿

He ‘supposedly’ directed car manufacturers to switch to making ventilators. I’ve never heard him once say how he was planning to switch manufacturing to help these folks. Who’s manufacturing is going to be redirected to make heaters, build housing, provide potable water? He has given details on his big plans for very everything else he plans to do but just a generalized, blanket statement on helping these people. I’m not only talking about long term recovery, I’m talking about just merely being able to survive from one day to the next.
