YNW Melly is known to the majority of the music world thanks to his stone-cold lyrics, positive character, vibrant energy and what a lot of people call a “angelic” voice. His tracks “Mixed Personalities” and “Murder on My Mind” amassed a wide group of loyal followers who quickly fell in love with his music. However, only a few know that there is a dark truth that lies not only behind those two tracks, but his entire music too.
You see, the rapper who we all know as YNW Melly has a split personality. He suffers from a bipolar disorder and he’s been living with at least two personalities ever since he was a kid. Melly is not only Melly…he is also Melvin - a different version of Melly, a rather sinister version
When Melvin takes over, Melly is known to get in a lot of trouble. In fact, it got him into so much trouble that he ended up catching a double-homicide charge for taking out two of his closest friends. Did Melly’s split personality arise because of the horrific childhood that Melly went through? Is Melvin the only defense mechanism that Melly had growing up? I believe I suffer from bpd or DID as well. Last year I had a shift in my identity/personality believing I had 3 different entity's living inside me. One was my normal personality who I referred to as myself or my primary personality. The second personality was that of my dead Grandpa who I never met and he was the personality that got me out of trouble when I thought of doing horrible things. The third was a demonic entity that typically acted out at nighttime as melly described melvin, this third entity would be so restless at night It even made me want to act out violently, sometimes riding around my neighborhood/area with my gun looking for trouble or sometimes I would link with multiple females on different nights, for some reason that's what I would crave. This third entity would sometimes even make me go all the way to my job which was only 5 mins from where I lived to scope out the area at night, there would be a homeless man sleeping there at night on a bench by the parking lot and I vividly remember staring him down with nobody else there present in the parking lot. He was awake and I would circle around him in a threatening manor like I was warning him to leave. I remember yelling to him in the middle of the night ''I sparred your life this time.'' then leaving shortly after. Id imagine after that the guy must have been traumatized, looking back at it I'm shocked by my own behavior. There was a few nights I recall where I would light a Mexican candle called ''de Muertos'' (which translated to day of the dead) in the middle of the night doing some sort of ritual thing. I swear on everything I was feeding off this energy. It was so powerful I grabbed a teddy bear in my room that I had intended to give to one of the females I was talking to at the time and cut the heart part it was holding with a knife. I guess this was a sign that she offended me at the time and that specific entity took control in a manic episode. It felt like some sort of voodoo ritual being that after I cut the red heart the teddy bear was holding for some reason I posted it on my Instagram story hoping the girl would see it which she did. In the picture I included the knife I cut it with. Sharing this story makes me question what it really was that made me do these things , I'm almost certain its a personality disorder I just felt the need to share this.

I am on mental health medication, which actually does help me along with spirituality. Did is formed slowly from trauma at a very young age and there are many different processes that have to happen in order for you to get it. If you’re really looking at it black and white without any grayscale that might ring true, but is anything ever just black or white? Split personality is a form of self control, not a good one 9x10 but it nevertheless is. A switch to and/or between different personalities usually is triggered when someone is unable/unwilling to deal with a situation or event that comes up in one’s life. Now I’m far from an expert nor claim to know it all but this much I do know. The human mind is a complex machine that we will probably never fully understand. Acknowledgement of that while also making it more acceptable to talk about, will or might help more than continuously re-adjust the DSM definition.

Poverty is the US is so different to poverty in South Africa. In the US poverty means living in a dangerous area in an apartment or house. It means you get foodstamps and assistance. In South Africa it means living in a shack made from scrap metal, bits of wood and plastic bags. You living in an area far outside the city in this massive place filled with shacks. No houses of buildings at all. There's no running water and no electricity. There MAY be a bunch of portable toilets, that are very rarely emptied. There is zero assistance from the government. There are no roads or lights. Zero police. The rats are literally the size of cats and they roam the streets attacking everything they find! They eating and killing cats, dogs and babies. At night they taking toes, fingers and ears. And you are not safe. The police ain't coming and how you gonna stop someone coming in your shack when ever. The difference between prisons is even more insane. The average person down here would be living it up in your prisons vwith 3 meals, a bed, electricity, water, TVs, blankets, etc
