Not from myanmar . They were from yunnan Province ( present day China ) passing myanmar and nagaland . In the year 1228 ahom kingdom was first established .

But they could not occupy Assam. At last the Mughal army is completely defeated by Ahom army led by great Assam son general Mahabir Lachit Barphukan in the battle of Saraighat in 1671.

Defeated, hence forced to retreat and this happened 17 times from 1613 to 1682. We defeated Mughals because our Genes are Superior than the rest. We never gave up fighting. Some so called higher castes of India were personal servants of Mughal Emperors. Only Shivaji Maharaj and Ahom Kingdom resisted the Mughals

Ahom never defeated the Mughals, it was a war that took place for 10 years. It was more of a revolt since the Ahom territoty was already under the Koch Dynasty by then and therefore, The Ahom King had to give his daughter to the Koch king of Darrang. (ref. Darrang Raj Borjabali by Shankar Dev).

@@kali848 Pls carefully study Assam history. Ahom dynasty defeated Mughal invaders 17 times. In my study life I read that the local people of Kamrup told them that they were not equal with newly coming people coming from Myanmar. So they called them A-Som and in this way the name of Kamrup was changed to Asom. And they were known as Ahom. Ahom is not tie word. They are known as tai Ahom. I am not male .
