As someone who’s been struggling severely for over a decade now since my mid teens, and am in sobriety for it now for several years now, I want to say, thank you, for shedding light to an often hidden truth in our Ummah. So many are struggling and are not coming forth to seek help out of fear and shame (it’s what held me back for so long before seeking a program and beginning the road with sobriety, Alhamdoulilah). This feels like a reminder to choose different from Al-Jabbar. Look into 12-step addiction programs. They’ve been extremely helpful for me in my journey over the last several years, Alhamdoulilah. There are quite a few of them that deal with this specific struggle. Do research and see which one that appeals to you. 12-step programs also have options for online and in-person meetings with different themes, SubhanAllah, so there are always various options for meetings. I do caution Muslims, as these programs aren’t Islam-centered. For me, I’ve used Islam as my foundation and structure, as with everything, as I’ve navigated the program and spaces, and it’s been successful, Alhamdoulilah. 🧎🏽‍♂️🤲🏽

Don't underestimate psychotherapy/counselling either brother. The Sunnah is the most useful and it also speaks of seeking treatment. Book 22, Number 3865: Narrated AbudDarda: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Allah has sent down both the disease and the cure, and He has appointed a cure for every disease, so treat yourselves medically, but use nothing unlawful.

"Ignore the pain that comes with doing good deeds." This is quite a nice new concept for me and I want to upgrade upon this. Can we rewire our brains into thinking in such a way that we feel next to no pain if any comes while performing good deeds? I'm being serious here. Brain rewiring and making brain think and perform in certain patterns is definitely a thing. Addition, dopamine and many other concepts regarding the brain does show us that rewiring your brain on pleasure or rewiring it on hardwork & struggle & consistency etc... both good and bad rewiring of the brains are possible. I ask again... can we literally rewire our brain to completely ignore the concept of any pain coming with doing good deeds? I mean surely there will be some types of pains that are not completely erasable. Lets assume you fought in Allah's way to save someone's property and died as a result, the physical fatal pain inflicted on you would definitely be felt but to a lot of extent, can we at least ignore any mental pains and rewire such a way?

The cure is real. Never lose hope. Find a higher purpose and hold your self to account. Lower the gaze, remove the evil by moving away from reminders of filth, get married, stay away from haram gender interactions, and have Taqwa awareness of Allah watching you. Make Tawba repentance salah after each time you relapse and vow to never return to it again.

A weapon that is more destructive than a nuclear bomb in terms of the destruction it actually causes. May Allah help all those struggling with it and allow them to prevail over it and as a result become a very strong muslim. As a motivation for brothers and sisters. Remember, there are hadith that talk of how difficult holding onto Islam will be in end times and that rewards will be increased. Don't remember the exact wording of the hadith but remember the overall wording. Here's 3. 1 The reward of a deed depends on the difficulty of performing it. 2 A muslim in end times will gain 50 times the reward of those in the past (due to how hard it will be to perform). 3 Holding onto Islam will be like holding onto burning coal. ^I know its difficult but in your struggle, invision yourself that you are burning in this world for the sake of Allah (with a smile) knowing in your heart that with it, Allah will certainly save you from the Fire in the next world.
