as you stated in the video reg press.125bar but you get a drop at 80 bar (cylinder) ,then according to r.lanes videos set the reg in that pressure 80-90 bar lighten the valve spring and work with the hammer tension ,that is how it worked for me ......very informative video Sir

Yes, already been down to 80 and 5 bar incriments up to where I am now. It stated on the paperwork to set at 105 bar, which I started off with. In another video on the same rifle he had set his reg at between 122 and 124 bar to get 90 shots and it also dropped off at 80 bar. A lot of the differences between a standard rifle are with the transfer ports being opened up, which then gives more power and a drop off at around 80 bar with the current tranfer port and valve and hammer settings. I will probaby drop down to 115 bar, as It's about the only one that I haven't tried yet. It certainly is a time consuming process.

Nice video! I am frustrated, as I can not managed to get the bottom brass piece off the cylinder!! It's on there for good!! I have the Altaros external Regulator just sitting there looking at me saying "put me on"

It will come off you need a special tool from Robert Lane Regulators a good metal vice a big adjustable spanner and a decent hammer.Also join the Air Arms Owners Group in UK very good info.

Mark Where did you get your altaros air cylinder from… How much was it.. I’m just about to fit a lane. But stripping the original cylinder down is a big ask mine are solid…

Hi bud I was very lucky with my reg from Rob Lane it was such an easy install.For my particular S200 MK3 in .22 I left transfer port as standard,I used 3 nylon washers o/d 5mm as packers on exhaust valve spring and screwed it in all the way.I removed both anti tampers with dremmel and got replacements off e bay ,my venturi screw was 2.5 mm allen headed bolt with length set flush with transfer port ,hammer spring screw I backed off to one thread out of block .Reg was set at 100 bar ,charge pressure was 200 bar (initially).I renewed all o rings and cleaned and re lubed as I went.First few shots over chrono where over the limit so I just kept backing off hammer screw 1/4 turn for each adjustment.I realised I'd fired 8 mags so 80 shots .Went to re charge rifle and found nearly 100 bar left!I re filled to 190 bar and started to get a consistent 11.6 ft-lb energy reading .80 shots later again 100+bar left.I locked off hammer screw with the tiny grub screw,re charged to 190 and re assembled gun for zeroing.Over the moon was understatement after really struggling with another reg and rifle settings.I also customised my bolt handle modified ball retaining hole on cocking bolt shaft to a little deeper and smoother taper ,moly paste and SM50 lube,fitted Rowan Trigger ,had the barrel threaded and fitted a SAK 1/2"unf moderator.QD swivel studs and bases and leather sling.I could not have done this with out this channel so a massive thanks.Kind regards Tony

Just to add (sorry it was lengthy reply)I'm using a Mamba Lite 3-12x44 in high mounts and JSB 15.9 grain Hades .22 pellets.Gun is quieter more accurate than previously and the 80 shots are good and consistent.

i own an aa200 mk3 cal .22, based on what i can read the energy can hit 27 ft lbs so 37 joules???? is that correct?

Yes, in .22 you should be able to achieve that with a full powered rifle.

@@0XAN You don't need a regulator, as the rifle is very efficient, although it would benefit from a regulator giving more consistent shots per charge. The hardest part about fitting a regulator to an Air Arms S200 is removing the exhaust valve from the rifle, as you will need a special tool to remove it and a vice. The tools can be purchased for £10 to £15 and the regulators will cost between £70 and £90 depending on which one you buy and if you want an internal or external one. With the external regulator you will get a few more shots, due to the cylinder not being filled with the regulator and taking up air. The regulator then needs fine balancing between the exhaust valve spring tension, choke and the hammer spring. The other option would be to have the rifle professionally tuned which will probably add another £100 to the cost, but if done by some where such as the Rat Works, Phill will also tweak other parts of the rifle at the same time.

Definitely so. It's been a pain in the arse up until now. It's working out what the best setting is. In theory you can get a similar result from various pressures from the regulator when balanced out with the exhuast valve and hammer spring. I've been through this process before, and it get very anoying. You can increase the power of the hammer spring and get a lower power reading, rather than higher, which is the norm. If you don't adjust the strength of the valve spring the valve opens too easily and at a full fill of the cylinder you can get really high readings if you don't balance the valve. At the other end, unless you balance the stength of the hammer to the valve, as the pressure drops off the regulator and you can get a power spike as the valve is opened easier to the hammer strike. I am testing it initially at about 15 bar above the regulator pressure, then shooting it down to make sure there are no power spikes. When I have done this, I then do a full fill to see if the power is any different on a full fill to make sure the regulator is working. Strange thing is I am getting some nice results, then suddenly there will be a high or low shot or two. I am not sure wether to buy a new hammer spring and valve spring, just in case they are worn out. Apart from keep trying, it's the only option that I can think of. The Altaros was easier to do, I may just service that and try that again if I have no joy. I'll keep you upto date with my progress.

Mark your Reg pressure is way to high for a .22 sub 12ftlb rifle using 3.5mm TP.. Drill out the transfer port to 3.8mm set regulator at 85bar and set your outlet valve to 6.0-6.1kg 2/3rds of its travel....adjust hammer as necessary. (3.8mm transfer port is fine with a .22 as pellet is 5.5mm wide but if your concerned about drilling barrel to 3.8mm just drill the action block to 3.8mm and taper the barrel with a 3.8mm drill bit to create a funnel effect into 3.5mm hole in barrel.👍) don’t worry just do it it will be spot on.😉

Thanks for that. Currently I have the reg set at 79 bar and it seems to be working about right with the 3.5mm transfer port. The hardest thing that I was finding was powering the bloody thing below to 12 ft/lbs. Ideally it seemed to like around 12 ft/lbs tune or just above, but loved 17 to 18 with just a 3 ft/p/s spread, but not having FAC had to struggle to get it to where it is now. My exhaust valve is shimmed but still needed to go all the way in and then out by just under 1 full turn. I've used two tins of pellets to get there and over two hours of compressor use between draining and topping up the cylinder. If I get any more problems I could drill out the transfer port more, but that would probably increase the power, what do you think?

Look at the fx radar return on the 440-820fps range, return is low & eratic & the fps measurement is eratic, When the fx is set to the lower velocity range the return jumps into the 70's & fps is stable.
