Hey Matt, wash the whole run in with wood sealer. It will make it last. Just keep topping it up from time to time and the wood will not rot. Keep up the good work. Cant wait to watch you launch the air bag. Peace!!

Love your videos, can't stop watching even though i've never jumped a bike in my life! Obviously too late now but maybe a suggestion for next time, use marine ply as it will last 10 times longer and wont delaminate and for the curved sections try using two sheets of 9mm ply. If you stagger the joints and use waterproof wood glue between the sheets it will be super rigid and v strong.

Hey Matt, Compound looks cool, maybe dig some holes and put some pressure treated lumber in the ground to hold that ramp just off the ground to keep it dry. maybe it will last a tad longer.
@RyanCranage5 жыл бұрын
Awesome Matt! Cover the wood in a few coats of weatherproof paint. I had my 5 foot kicker (You can see it in my YT display pic) and 6 foot quarter painted in purple outdoor wall paint and they lasted considerably longer then my un painted kickers had in the past.

Tou could use hardwood ply or marine ply which would last alot longer as its water resistant but does cost abit more than pine shuttering ply. Keep it up!! Love these videos.

@sloemost58095 жыл бұрын
Would it be worth putting some wood preserver or weather shield treatment on the timber under the ply?
@gbvtt765 жыл бұрын
wood directly into the ground isn't really the best idea, the moisture from the ground will make it rote way faster :/ you could have put a waterproof cover underneath
@freerider87375 жыл бұрын
Adraps its only going to be sitting on the ground like all of his ramps are itll be fine hes going to dig all that grass out
@campbellclark82215 жыл бұрын
I reckon add some kind of treatment to the wood too if possible. Maybe bed in the sides with stones for better drainage?
@gbvtt765 жыл бұрын
FreeRider it’s not because he always done it like this that it’s the good way, btw he already had roten wood like the quarter he is rebuilding
@freerider87375 жыл бұрын
Adraps yes and no itll help for sure but c'mon this is matt. also main problem was the quarter was stright ply on mud. most my wood kickers at mine last 2ish years before needing new ply wood and the base and frame work has lasted as long as ive built them. granted this isn't uk weather
@gbvtt765 жыл бұрын
FreeRider i’m not saying that it‘s rubish, just wanted to underline that it’s a shame, it didn’t need really much effort or money, and that he should have done it at that point.

When building the wooden kickers, cab you talk about kicker geometry? Hight, length, radius and for different skill levels etc.
@JayJay-zr7fu5 жыл бұрын
Putting all that effort to build it defiantly makes sense to put some effort in to wood preserve it with something. Also the bottom bit needs digging around so that it’s not a low point. Ideally sit it on some slabs or bricks not more wood to pass the moister through.

You need to sit those on concrete or bricks otherwise ply will start to rot and it'll all go to s**t. It'll become unstable and out of level bud. Won't last a year.
