Sure but it is virtually impossible to happen. Unless there are huge orders. The airline world is changing constantly but in current markets there are still only very few airlines, very few routes for which the A380 makes sense. And those operators already happen to ahve mothballed A380s sitting around.
@Lumixx462 ай бұрын
It won’t happen. Airbus would have to build an entire new production line to build a new A380. That would be costs of about 18 to 20 billion dollars. Way too much. The old assembly line has already been converted into an A320neo production line.

Also the plane is so huge, you don't feel the winds. But the best trips I had were with Lufthansa's A380 from Frankfurt to Houston. A380 in their configuration had small economy cabin in the second floor at the back just for 20-30 people. That was awesome area to spend the flight - lots of storage, you could excercise on the floor behind the back seats and many toilets so you did not wait in queue. :)

Lots of us would love to see a380 production restart, but it would be an enormous cost to do that redevelopment work - would need huge commitment and funding from a customer (which Emirates could potentially provide, of course). But the other issue with them restarting production, is the additional huge cost to re-establish the production line since they closed it - and that they have no space to even do that (the previous production line has been converted to build more of the A32x models, which have an enormous and currently still growing backlog - and they're not going to shoot themselves in the foot by ramping down production of the cash-cow!).

I know that there's no chance of the A380 programme being restarted but I do think they made a mistake stopping production. I simply think that over time there will be demand for more passengers through fewer slots at major airports - particularly in Asia. Designing the 1000 version, taking advantage of its optimed wing aerodynamics and with new engines would seem to have been the best option... There was also a design mistake in not putting the cockpit higher or designing the tail so it could incoporate a cargo loading ramp.

I bet Airbus is waiting for the Ultrafan. That could increase Aircraft’s efficiency about 20% if you add the A380 Plus wingtip design. They do not want a stretched version of the A350K cause it’s selling so good as it is and an upgraded A380 will do the job for high-demand routes. However I don’t really think I will make it back to production. It was a logistical nightmare and the line is already working on the A321Neo which is a crazy seller. Airbus needs to carefully evaluate the risks and take good decisions to keep the good way!

@nicktecky552 ай бұрын
Unlike this video suggests, Airbus have stated there's no prospect of a revival of the A380. However, there does appear to be demand for an ultra high cpapcity aircraft, but it has to have two engines, maybe the new R-R Ultrafan. The requirement has now changed; the ultra long range narrow body designs have shut off that requirement. However, the airlines have been factoring the development of the global economy, and the likely pattern of demand for the second half of the 20th century. That would lead to a revival of the hub concept, and that is where the new aircraft would fit. All as I understand it of course, I'm not an insider.

I doubt the A380 will come back anytime soon without sufficient demand, but also... There are other issues. For example, the factory that was formerly used for A380 wing assembly in Broughton, North East Wales has been converted to produce single aisle aircraft wings (A320 family), so if they were to bring the A380 programme, where would they choose to make the wings? They already have a ridiculous backorder issue with their current line up of aircraft, and when you take into account the time, money and planning required to even start such a project, never mind the logistics and physical production side of things, I highly doubt the A380 is coming back anytime soon. For all I know though, I could be completely wrong. In case anybody is wondering, I used to work at Airbus in NE Wales myself.
