Y’all shooting sub 12 guns and making kill shots have my deepest respect. Here in the USA thankfully for now at least we can have FAC rated guns and it is awesome to be able to sight in at 25 yards and not really have to hold over to 50 yards. They shoot so flat even in .22 and .25 caliber. Sub 12 is a true challenge and those who use them are some really good marksman. 👍

I used to shoot an air arms s410 classic at 11.75 fps out to 50 yards using Prometheus air pellet, with the right combo setup I never saw the need for fac. during night hunts with my night scope I could clearly see how straight these pellets flew, in calm conditions at that range it was centre cross hair with just a tad of hold over. not sure if they still make them, they were a mix alloy with titanium if I remember, , I still have some, you had to order the exact match for your barrel. they looked more like a bullet and were referred to as a bullet. absolutely astonishingly accurate pellets, no lead pellet came close on accuracy.

magpie shot was lovely
@rogeremberson64644 жыл бұрын
There's nothing better than dropping a magpie, they're canny buggers. The best result I had was 6 magpies in 5 minutes. They were having a bit of an argument with a couple of jays and didn't notice their mates dropping one after the other. And I actually dropped both jays with one shot, one was behind the other. I have a Gamo Shadow .22 springer. Had it a few years now and had to re-spring it after the original spring broke. Also I changed the Gamo sights that came with the rifle for Hawke sights, the Gamo sights just weren't up to the job. Still dropping magpies and squirrels to this day, although there are fewer to shoot at. I must be doing something right maybe?.

Great episode Matt. Fantastic to see the Huntsman still showing how good it is. I have two - A .177 Regal and a .22 Classic. I would not part with either! We all miss, so let's be honest about it! Terrific that the guys did not edit out the 'fluffs'. My view on recharging is simple; If you are fit and under thirty five, you can get away with a pump. If you have endless disposable income, get a compressor. Otherwise, get a dive tank!!!! Keep up the great work Matt.
@22skiddoo4 жыл бұрын
Re 'filling options': you didn't mention that air cylinders need to be tested regularly (every 2½ or 5 years) at a cost of £35-£45 (local to me). Not all compressor stations are rated to 300 bar, so check your local shop before paying the extra for a 300 bar rated cylinder. A 232 bar fill - or more like 210 bar when it's cooled from the filling operation - will deliver air at increasingly lower pressures and you'll soon be getting less than 200 bar from that nominal 232 bar fill. Larger cylinders will give you more fills per bar and will often cost the same to fill (£6 or so), although the cylinders themselves may be slightly more expensive. My local dive shop understands what PCPs are all about and they stock parts like valves and filling whips but your local shop might differ.

The Reg'd Huntsman regal FAC, how many shots do you get to a fill, assuming 230bar? Im looking forward to the FAC XL version, unregged. I'll be installing one. Good shooting!
@richsaunders65154 жыл бұрын
I get around 30-35 shots from the .22 at 30ft.lbs. with a 250 bar fill, which is ideal for hunting. The reg is set at about 150 bar, so with a 250 bar fill that's about 100 bar of useable air. I'd recommend the HR version over the non-regulated rifle as you want all of those shots to be as consistent as possible. Great choice either way though!

Hi Kevin. Its just a regular bean bag cushion - it doesn't even have a brand name or label. Lots of retailers sell them but I bought mine several years ago from John Knibbs International. A really handy piece of kit and I wouldn't be without it. Although they are mainly intended to sit on, I use mine as a gun rest from the back of the truck - as you can see in the film - and I also use a couple of bungee cords to secure it to the window frame when shooting from the truck.

@joshnnik4 жыл бұрын
Hi, it took me a while to realise that although my distance glasses aren’t varifocals the view through them does effectively alter the point of aim when the eye is not exactly in line with the centre of my scope. This was leading to shots going high and the resulting misses. I now remove them before taking aim and with the scope diopter set for my normal vision the reticule is perfectly clear and no more stray shots.

I could be wrong, if I am my apologies. It sounds like you are squeezing the trigger on the inhale. If you are, try squeezing the trigger on the exhale, hold the squeeze. You'll be a heck of a lot more stable. And you can hold it longer. Breathing technique has a lot to do with accuracy. You can have the most high end scope but it wouldn't matter. When looking at your videos you have minute movement. Exhale and hold then squeeze, you should notice a big difference in a more steady shot. Ex ARMY vet. Love your channel.

Hi Jake. I'm not sure if you heard me say at the start of the video that the farm next to the one I was shooting (another of my permissions) is a sheep farm. The sheep are lambing pretty much all year round. Corvids are a problem because they will attack pregnant ewes that lay down and can't get up again, as well as their very new born lambs. If you've ever seen a ewe or lamb with its eyes pecked out you'll understand why shooting magpies and other corvids is not pointless. Thanks for watching.
