I LOVE that you're using a break barrel. This shows that this is possible for the majority of us airgunners who can't afford more than a break barrel, or who just want a challenge, even though the only challenge is loading quickly. Break barrels are JUST AS ACCURATE as PCP's.
@heathhalfhill68674 жыл бұрын
My shoulders are so screwed due to injuries...DAMN... I want a multi shot break barrel or a springer under lever so freaking bad. Can’t even shoot my Benjamin Sheridan 392PA anymore..., and it has served me well for decades. By the time I learned what a quality”Springer was it was too late...I love to shoot...PERIOD! I love air guns. I love pesting/hunting/target/plinking and the like with airguns. I’m stuck at the moment with PCPs, and I’m not complaining at all. The fact that you can make those shots at that distance...is a statement to your shooting prowess. God bless and please keep them coming! Your very fortunate my friend. Take care.
@theshootingshow4 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much Heath. I am pleased to hear that you are still able to do some shooting with a PCP. I am not a great shot with a spring gun - pretty average - but the rats were all less than 20 yards away, which was helpful... Thanks for watching. Mat

I totally agree that the Airgun world has forgotten their roots with the break barrels. Which I would guess is the majority of shooters. Nice to see a setup for night shooting. Please do more of this. And spread the word to your other KZbin channels. It could be just coincidence but the rats seem to just fold up and die. Not all that kicking and crap from being shot with a pcp. The video was totally what the doctor ordered. Thanks.

Glad you enjoyed it. The kills were the same as I would expect with a PCP but I like the simplicity of this setup. Thanks for watching. Mat

Nice to see a Springer being used. People say they are not as accurate as pcp but that's only cos they Cant shoot a Springer well.

That's right. It is just harder to shoot them with accuracy. The rats were all quite close so the shots were very straightforward. Thanks for watching. Mat

Amazing shooting with a springer at night. Goes to show that we probably do not need all this dangle fangle HD NV or thermal spotters for air rifle hunting. Most of those rats died without a twitch. Shots well placed. Thanks for this, I really enjoyed it.

Glad you liked it. The hi-tech kit makes a small difference but I think too many shooters rate it over fieldcraft and an understanding of their quarry, which I think is key. Thanks for watching. Mat

When I was seventeen I bought my first air rifle,(1971) then nothing until 2020 when I got a Gamo Whisper! It is so accurate much better than the other rifles I have bought since (don't ask) but as your other comments, It is so nice to see a break barrel used with great effect, since I have mine I do not have a rat problem. Keep up the good work

Nice work with the break barrel. My Gamo Shadow Sport won’t hit the broadside of a barn (so to speak). It’s just too inconsistent to even zero in. I’ve cleaned the barrel, and tried a few different types of pellets. No good. I give up. Getting an FX Maverick.

I have a question, generally, when shooting rats, is it useful to remove the shot rats immediately after shooting them or leaving them and cleaning up when you're finished shooting? Do the rats care about the dead laying around or should I refrain from walking around the area where the rats are? Love your videos! Cheers
@sparkfishes3 жыл бұрын
I have watched a lot of this type of video and noticed the rats here , using a 0.177 pellet, seem to die instantly. Most other videos show the rats leaping and kicking . I KNOW there is always the disclaimer that the jerking is just post mortem nerves but I wonder if the 0.177 does give a cleaner kill, better penetration than a 0.22 or 0.25. Unfortunately, I don't shoot .
