Are British shooters too obedient? Armed Devon & Cornwall police officers have been turning up at shooters homes, often during darkness, and seizing their guns. Many of these shooters have had their guns for decades. One of them also servces on the regional crime squad. But whil most shooters agree to hand over the guns and surrender their certificates without a fuss, Chris Hart from Plymtree successfully saw off the top police who came to his house.

The fact that they were trying to take his weapons because of a diagnosis of autism is pretty insidious. People always say that America is crazy for letting people with mental health conditions own weapons. But if you open that door, it would never stop. First it's serious mental health conditions like psychotic disorders. Then it's disorders like PTSD, then anxiety disorders, and depression, and diagnoses of someone being on the spectrum. And if you look at America as a whole, that covers a huge percentage of the American population. A lot of those diagnoses aren't even accurate, because if you get a referral from your primary care physician to a psychologist or psychiatrist, they have to put a reason, like a suspected diagnosis, for insurance purposes. And then to treat you with insurance coverage, a psychologist or a psychiatrist has to pick a diagnosis. Otherwise there's no medical need for your treatment, and it won't be covered. Whenever there's a shooting that involves an ex-soldier or someone along those lines, and it comes out they have PTSD, I always encounter tons of people saying that it's crazy that we allow people with PTSD to own weapons. To them, I always ask the following; what about a woman who has PTSD because she was the victim of a brutal assault, and she wants a firearm in order to protect herself and take back some control of her life? It forces them into a position of empathy for that woman, or into a position of being blatantly heartless towards a victimized woman. It's also a useful example to point out that just because someone has PTSD, doesn't mean that they are violent and dangerous. Revoking people's inalienable rights because of a medical condition is ridiculous and insidious. If people have rights revoked, it should be because they committed crimes that infringed upon the rights of others. Not because of a medical condition like depression, anxiety, or PTSD. I also got into an argument with someone recently who thought I was crazy for thinking that we should "let blind people own firearms". I had to explain to them, and encourage them to look it up themselves, that blind people *ARE* allowed to on firearms in America, just like everyone else is, unless they have some type of criminal acts on their record that prohibit them from firearm ownership. I also then had to explain that the government doesn't "let" people exercise their rights in America. We are not *given* rights by a supposedly generous and benevolent government. *We have them by default.*

Every new gun control law is just one more step forward in their plan to completely disarm the U.K. and Canada. First, in the name of safety, they confiscate your guns, then they put you in "safe quarantine locations". What next? transport by box cars? re-education camps? government seizure of private property? Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. They can have my guns when they pry it from my cold dead hands. @Active Security Officer Control through fear! Basically: if you break this law and we catch you - it's not going to be a good time had by all! But does deterrence really stop the crime! No... But when you disarm good people on principal that it's for a greater good... You are in fact lay down the foundations for a criminal state! Because anyone with taste for blood will flock to where they fully know - they are the only ones armed! Which is why so many cowards take their harm to schools and public arenas... It breeds a society of victims... "Don't dare protect yourself - we can do it - so in case of emergency - call an operator, stop to explain, so we know where to collect your body!" Our leadership is all protected by gunman! Our law enforcement relies in guns to assert their authority! We have thousands and thousands of men and women performing drills and training in uniform... As a standing army to protect our country - with guns... Please, please, please! Believe me when I say this issue has NOTHING to do with safety, health, or protection... It is entirely about control and the counter measures to ensure those controls can be force totally undeterred! When you surrender rights in the name of peace and safety... You will never get safety or know peace... History has taught that lesson many, many, many times... But that requires knowing history! Because most of the time... It's someone that is so sure that they can make things work and be different... With the greatest of intentions... That are actually living outside of reality! That do more harm than any weapon... Examples: Spain, the Scottish, the Celts... The Native American Indians! Heck, the once last surviving member of the Hawaiian Royal family! Unfortunately, there are plenty of places in America that are almost this ridiculous. And they are all deep Blue. Although, at least in America the police can't just show up and claim they have the right to inspect your firearms or how they are stored. That is, unless, you own licensed suppressors, automatic weapons (I think), or you have a specific kind of firearms license. Manufacturing, I think. When you fall into those categories, you do give away *some* of your rights, as far as I understand it. I've been told that you open yourself up to inspections that you can't refuse, but don't quote me on that.

@@scottcantdance804 In the US you don’t lose your 4th amendment rights just because you have a license to engage in the business of selling or manufacturing firearms. You can refuse inspection. The issue is if you refuse inspection they could revoke your license because you are licensed to engage in a regulated business. As far as a tax stamp for the individual ownership of NFA weapons (machine guns, silencers, etc). you don’t lose your 4th amendment rights by having those weapons. Authorities cannot search your home or compel you to present the weapons. They can only search your home with a warrant issued by a magistrate or judge based on probable cause and your refusal to provide consent for a warrantless search does not affect your tax stamp or ownership of that weapon.

After breaking down the door, they found out they were in the wrong house, but they saw he had a gun collection of about 100 guns. They called the ADA to ask what to do, and were ordered to confiscate all the guns, even though police entered the wrong house, ILLEGALLY. It all came to a head one day and he threatened to kill me, I reported this to Devon and Cornwall police but they did absolutely nothing. He wasn't visited, his gun was not taken away and his mental state wasn't checked. All I got told to do was avoid him but that was difficult when the only way to get anywhere was past his farm and he always confronted us. We moved as fast as we could but this guy could have killed us all because Devon and Cornwall police were completely inept. A few years back - spring of 1775 if memory serves - we over here in the US had a big go round over government confiscation of firearms in the villages of Lexington and Concord. A more orderly and honest group of people than UK gun owners you would be pushed to find. The Chiefs of police are no doubt behind this worrying trend. When it comes to your government and your firearms NEVER think that it’s nothing. I feel so bad for every gun owner in the world being susceptible to their government just deciding you aren’t allowed to own firearms. Even here in the USA we have to fight everyday against a part of our government that says to your face “oh don’t worry we aren’t going to take your guns away” while they make every effort to take our guns away. They do it incrementally. A little here and a little there. They call for “common sense” gun control saying don’t worry it’s for your own good we are just trying to stop crime. Knowing it won’t work that way they come back and say oh that didn’t work lets pass just one more little law.

Literally nobody is taking guns away here in America, except from those who suffer from mental illness which may make them incompetent or violent. Those are people who have bought and own guns prior to their diagnosis. People unable to legally own a weapon cannot own one at all. Criminals are the ones being disarmed. Glock switches are being confiscated and the owners put in prison. Illegal weapon modifications are being seized. Illegal weapons are being taken. If you follow the fucking laws and listen to what’s going on around you that doesn’t come from FOX news, you’d realize that your weapons are in ZERO danger. I have full faith that the US government knows how catastrophically devastating a mass-seizure would be - millions would fight and die.

Glad I live in the United States, and in a state that doesn't have the excessively strict laws as some states. Yes, there's some states that, in some ways, have more restricting firearms laws, than you do across the pond. California, New York and New Jersey are the top three of those that come to mind, and no, I have no desire to ever reside under any of their tyrannical, oppressive laws. Kudos to Mr. Hart for standing up for his rights, and not allowing the police to enter his home without a warrant.
@Draelyn
@Draelyn 2 жыл бұрын
People also seem to think California gun laws are out of control. They really aren't, you can own any center fire semi-auto rifle you want, you just have to attach something called a fin grip to it if it has a pistol grip, barrel length can't be shorter than 16.5 inches. You can own any shotgun you want really, the only restriction is hand guns, if you want a handgun it has to be one on a hand gun list, which is annoying because new guns aren't added so I can't get my hands on any of those neat new guns I want. California also has something called a Castle Doctrine, meaning that if someone enters your home without your permission, your life is instantly considered to be in danger and you are legally allowed to defend yourself with lethal force without any legal repercussions. New York also has a castle doctrine. Without the castle doctrine I feel California would be a dangerous place to live and I would move asap.
@srbontrager
@srbontrager 2 жыл бұрын
@@Draelyn Yes and no. Yes California does have castle doctrine, no duty to retreat(surprisingly 🤯). However New York does have duty to retreat. Either which way, I was born, raised and still live in a state that allows anything the federal government allows. As for California or New York, I have absolutely no desire to ever reside under the thumb of their tyrannical governments.

@tylerchambers6246 2 жыл бұрын
@@Draelyn So you have to attach a fin grip, which makes the gun dangerous to use, just to make it legal, but that's not out of control? All these other restrictions are just curious and don't actually do anything, and in the worst cases, make guns even more dangerous and less effective to operate. It's just restrictions for the sake of restrictions. But any restriction is out of control, it's an infringement.
@Draelyn
@Draelyn 2 жыл бұрын
@@tylerchambers6246 My point was both not out of control and also the absurdity of some gun laws. That being said, I am okay with needing to jump through hoops to own a full auto gun, the last thing I need is some asshole breaking into my neighbors house across the street, and then my neighbor grabbing his full auto AK and being all hoped up on adrenaline holds the trigger down and doing a mag dump and having the bullets go through his house, across the street, and into my house possibly hitting me. Semi-auto is love, semi-auto is life.

Being American, watching this really got me steamed. I have friends from the UK and other European countries, and the misconceptions they have, on how we have firearms, is short of amazing. I had one actually believe that banks gave guns away when you opened an account. The process of how the UK deals with firearms is so alien to me. I can walk out my door right now, and shoot off rounds. I do not live in the city, and there are rules. Common sense ones. Don't shoot towards houses.
