It's amazing that some people to this day still do not understand the difference between hunting and Pest Control. This video 6:05 is showing a pure example of pest control with sub 12 ft-lb air rifles. I had a disagreement with another KZbinr who I thought was intelligent telling me this was not hunting but target shooting not understanding the meaning of pest control.

Intelligence has nothing to do with it, it's a matter of opinion . . . a matter of "where you stand in life". If you talk about certain species of animals that aren't indigenous to the area doesn't mean they are a pest, it means they are disturbing your comfortzone. If they are a pest just because they do what nature tells them to do, then we have to start shooting people as well because many of us are not indigenous to our environment anymore. Squirrels damage the barks, is that a legit reason to shoot them does this ease your mind when you pull the trigger on a living thing? What do we do with people that cut down vast areas of forests in an area where they don't belong? What do we do with people who like to fly in planes and go to places where they are foreign and pollute the air while getting there? Or what about the pollution of container ships? You know that 16 of the biggest container ships produce the same pollution in one day than all the cars in the world combined over a ONE YEAR PERIOD?! Do we shoot these people as well? No of course not . . . so why would we shoot squirrels, because they are a pest or because you want to have a reason to hunt them? No I'm not an environmentalist, I don't believe in global warming and all that bullshit. I don't believe that humanity is to blame for the crisis they push us in right now. All the people in the world can fit in New York City when standing shoulder to shoulder and there would be room left for 500.000.000 more. Just Google it. Now look at New York City via Google earth and zoom out until you see the entire world. That little spec you see, that's New York City. When you do that, all of a sudden it becomes clear that we are being lied to, you suddenly understand that there is no environmental crisis caused by the people but by governments and computer models. But enough of that, long story short, I just can't handle people that try to justify the killing of animals by finding stupid reasons to justify their sport. Yes there are legit pest animals like rats for example and I understand that you have to shoot them but please don't act all "professional" about it and admit that you like the excitement of shooting animal targets that move around. I'm not here to convict people that shoot animals, I just don't like how they try to justify it. Just say that you like the "sport" of hunting animals and you have my respect.

@@jbhk7977Wow you wrote almost a whole book for me I should be flattered almost blushing. At the end of the day most hunters just like shooting shit. And they'll just find some reason why they do it. Heck I know personally some people that are waiting for somebody to try to invade their house so they can mount their heads in the wall. Like I tell most people we are civilized because we are comfortable for now once resources get scarce the knives comes out and act just like the people in the Dark Ages.

Can i ask ..if you need to illuminate the reticle then why does only the central crosshair illuminate? If you have the need for illumination then surely your holdover/under points need illuminating too. My hawke sidewinder has a fully illuminated reticle which allows me to see my aimpoints until my glass gives up. If you need holdover with this and you need illumination then you're in trouble and really shouldn't take the shot

Rabbits are declining in numbers not what they use to be. So unnecessary shooting like this need to stop.
@richsaunders65152 жыл бұрын
Hi Harrison. There are plenty on the farm you see in the video. In fact, more this year than the previous year, and there were more that year than the one before. RHD has hit rabbit populations hard in some places, but not everywhere. If the rabbit population wasn't so healthy I wouldn't have been shooting them and I know most other hunters/pest controllers hold the same opinion.
@harrisontaylor45312 жыл бұрын
See in the video? You only shot 2 rabbits, yeah that’s plenty, enough to cause massive issues. Thing is with most shooters is they don’t know what they are trying to achieve with rabbits. They moan when too many and moan when there is not enough at the back end of the year. Because rabbits classed as a pest, doesn’t mean they are being a pest. And what else they going to eat if they can’t eat grass? Go to the local Tesco?
@richsaunders65152 жыл бұрын
@@harrisontaylor4531 Hi Harrison. I'm not entirely sure I'm following, but if it helps, there are plenty more than two rabbits on the farm, plenty. When the rabbit population gets too big they undermine fences that are expensive to repair and could potentially result in livestock escaping onto a busy road. Also, as I think I explained in the video, they are eating plants and vegetables that are being grown in a small commercial market garden. I don't believe I moaned about too many/too few rabbits. They only become a pest (and I only shoot them) when numbers increase to the point they start presenting the previously described farm management problems. I hope that provides some additional information to explain what I was doing. Please also be assured that all the rabbits and squirrels shot in the video were either eaten by me/my family and friends, or by hawks and owls at a local bird of prey sanctuary. I do not shoot things for the sake of killing them, but I do carry out pest control when it is necessary, and hunt for the table.
@harrisontaylor45312 жыл бұрын
So you don’t actually know what you are trying to achieve? If you had only two rabbits eaten the vegetables/grass and trying to control the population, how do you know then what the population is right? And killing mother rabbits while feeding their young. The young rabbits going to have a unpleasant slow death. Tbh you couldn’t really care about the damage that rabbits do, all you want is to shoot something and have a reason two. Say it’s management but how many rabbits do you want on the farm? No one actually knows, that’s why I said earlier if there so called too many or too few. You could see 5 or 10 it doesn’t mean there are lots. And if a few weeks they could be more or none at all. You just shooting for shooting sake. Rabbit numbers are not what they use to be and you only believe what you want to. Like most shooters and keepers are up their own arse . And chat utter rubbish.
