I flew SCAT about 14 years ago from Almaty to Atyrau and back. It lived up to its name. Only aircraft I’ve flown where the seat was physically disconnected from the aircraft (literally one screw connecting it) and where the landing both ends was akin to landing on an aircraft carrier. Takes a brave or foolish person to fly SCAT more than once.

Josh, the reason it seems like it is taking forever is because you are not preoccupied and keeping track of time. In the long business class flights, you have meals, entertainment, and sleep. You are also comfortable in your seat. In economy with no thrills you are bored and cant wait to get off the flight and in a very uncomfortable seat.

I’ve flown with them many times. I’ve been stuck for 5 hours onboard waiting to take off in -30, seen ground crew still refuelling when pilot started to taxi, most of their older smaller planes had one bald tyre and one with tread on each landing gear axle. The interior of the older planes reminded me of the 1970’s, it was always an “experience”

I’ve flown with SCAT B737-500 last December, no de-icing whatsoever despite outside temperature being around -6 Celsius… we were on a first morning flight that day. The wing was contaminated. I’ve posted the trip report some months ago.

I heard many "not so great" things about SCAT. I finally tried them for the first time last year on a short flight from Astana to Pavlodar. This plane in Josh's video looks brand new comparing to the plane I flew on, which was at least 30 years old. Despite the plane being old, I would say the flight was smooth and perfect. It was on time, and the legroom wasn't terrible (maybe I'm saying so because it was a short flight). They even distributed bottles of water, which is something they wouldn't do in other low-cost airlines in Kazakhstan such as Fly Arystan. Thanks for the awesome video of the "not too bad" SCAT.

Fly Oman Air from Muscat to Khasab, noone that I can find has done a review of the Khasab airport experience, it's the most amazing landing/takeoff, straits of Hormuz on one side and moutains on the other, you can even see Iran across the straits.

The airline's name seems appropriate, at least in English. "Scat" is another word for "poop".🤣 On the positive side, no plug doors blew out of that 737-8 MAX.... nor did the MCAS system fail. So overall, since Josh got to his destination alive, I'd call this trip a success...... tho' his knees may not be feeling so great after spending 3 hours jammed up against the seat in front of him.

I flew with them from Ulaanbaatar. It was so weird. Cabin crew and pilots were late, and passengers boarded the plane with neither staff on board nor engines running. Surreal. Food was some horrific process sausage thing wrapped in clingfilm. Tried to track it, but it didn't show on Flightradar. The plane was dishevelled. Check-in opened so late, meaning the flight was delayed or maybe vice-versa with no queung system whatsoever. 😅
