Fascinating how people tend to fail to realize the Mexican Army fought In a Napoleonic style based on the time period. Fancy and beautiful to see but not the most practical way of fighting an entrenched enemy.

Seeing as how the Mexicans killed all the defenders, their tactics worked well enough. In fact, most Mexican casualties were from friendly fire as the Mexicans didn't aim their muskets but preferred to fire from the hip so as to avoid getting sore shoulders from the musket recoil.

Since its release "The Alamo" has always been one of my favorite movies but I always thought it has one of the cinema's dumbest lines. Thousands of Mexicans are storming the walls, defenders are falling left and right, its obvious to any and every one that the Texans are all doomed when Ken Curtis's character noticing one of his men suffering a serious wound tells the man to "get to the infirmary." Must have been a reflex deal.

It also depends on the amount of ammunition left at hand. If you are low, it's perhaps best to wait for shots that you would be more confident lands their target.

Most of the movie The Alamo is complete fiction, especially the first half. And while the battle scenes are impressive, the attack on the Alamo actually took place in the pre-dawn darkness while most of the defenders were sleeping.

The reason the Mexican 🇲🇽 province of Texas was balkanized was because the central Mexican government of General Santa Anna declared slavery illegal in Texas. (Mexico had abolished slavery since 1810). This did not please at all the US-American immigrants who wanted to keep slavery as a form of work. The Mexican soldiers who defended the territorial integrity of Mexico in the battle of the Alamo are actually the good guys from a badly told story.

Glory to the brave 19th century Mexican 🇲🇽 soldiers, who defended the territorial integrity of Mexico from the US-American pirates, who were balkanizing the Mexican province of Texas. Yes, because they were illegal immigrants who rose up against the Mexican Republic, Texas did not have the right to separate from Mexico, but the US-American pirates wanted to continue maintaining slavery, abolished in Mexico since 1810. Mexico 🇲🇽 land of racial equality.

There is some debate on this issue. From what i have read (and I am not being critical of Davy Crockett) (nor am I really sure of what is the truth) but some Mexican accounts claim he was captured (while wounded), brought before Santa Anna who then had him put to death. At no time was Crockett ever accused of being a coward or otherwise.

David Crockett fought to the end, and was apparently one of a few captured alive, and then executed by order of Generalisimo Antonió Santa Anna. (He didn’t like being called “Davy”. He liked being called “David”. )
