The Alaska cabin gets a kitchen floor

When it is cold, I work inside...when it is nice out I work outside, and when it is hot out I work inside! hahahahaa
We have finally hit a warming trend in my part of Alaska, and since we were close to 90 degrees f (32c) I have opted to do an indoor project this weekend so it looks like The Alaska cabin gets a kitchen floor!
A quick update on the solar and we will get right into this weeks project.
I am a complete novice builder who grew up in sunny California and thought it would be an awesome idea to build my own off grid cabin on raw land in Alaska...what could go wrong?
I have never built a thing in my life so why not a house? OH! and I can live in a trailer while I do it....and work full time! Did I mention that I am out of shape, over weight and 60? What could go wrong?

Your choice of flooring for the kitchen is gorgeous I love that. Next time you move the table around put a throw blanket under it and it will slide easily. Don’t forget about clearances around your fridge if you want max efficiency they need to breath. Every model is different my fridge needed 3” on the sides but I got one of those goofy French door ones lol.

My stove will not require power Mike, It is a battery ignition stove. As for the fridge, I plan to run that off of my battery bank that I have yet to purchase. I am estimating that a 600 amp hour lithium bank should run the fridge easily for at least 4 days, although I may go bigger, that is the plan to start with. Have a great weekend!

Great job on the flooring Sean. When we build our house that we live in now we decided to place the tile under the cabinets, only because if we decide to change the cabinet designs later on. What are your plans for your lower corner cabinets?

Oh! No. Solar in winter is a lost cause here in Alaska. I will have to run my generator to keep everything topped up at least 5 months out of the year.
