First time seeing you, was great. Loved seeing all the Christmas trees. I didn’t put one up but now wish I had. Really enjoyed your video. Will watch you again. Do you live there alone? Do you live there permanently. God bless you 🎉🎉
@CrystalmarieGrz11 минут бұрын
This is probably a stupid question since it may (will) attract bears but what about feeding the moose away from the chickens. Like maybe so carrots some corn maybe some pine trees left over from Christmas. Again I’m probably stupid and would get myself murdered in Alaska but it’s worth a try. Poor rooster he is so mad and probably glad you are seeing he wasn’t the reason the feed was tipped over.

We are not allowed to feed moose here in Alaska. As for beats, they are asleep this time of year. Not a stupid question at all 😀

I've seen farmers use electric wires to protect their chickens. I don't know if that would be an option for you , but it's a thought. I don't know anything about moose, so I don't know if it would work.
@SeanInAlaska40 минут бұрын
It would work here too. I plan on one when I build the new coop and run in the spring

1,000 pounds of mean. What do let a moose do when they come to your house? Whatever they want. They will get annoyed and stomp. They stomp sled dogs.

We had the neighborhood squirrels eating our chicken feed along with the massive flock of wild birds. My chickens would move aside and let them eat all the food. We now keep the food in the chicken coop and only toss a little scratch out at a time. Its more time-consuming to go toss out scratch twice a day, but we we going through a bag of pellets every two weeks for 12 hens.

I remove the food daily now too lol...

We have elk that have learned to open our galvanized trash can and eat the bag of corn inside..I used to think it was me forgetting to put the lid on but nope it was them using their lips to manipulate the handle to where they could open it.

You need a tea cup Chihuahua! My little 3 pound baby ran big animals off. I don't know what she said but they would turn tail and run! At first they would look at her like - what are you? - then shock, then fear. I wish I had that kind of moxy. We were long haul truck drivers and frequently came across large animals like moose and bison and cattle. Princess was fearless!😂😅 Do you think the sound of a taser might work? Or a cow bell?

Put the feed inside the 🐓 chicken house. That's what we did on the farm in Md. We used to get real deep snows. ❄
@SeanInAlaska52 минут бұрын
I have done that in the past. Since this started though I put the feed in the outhouse once the chickens roost for the night.

Could you clang a couple pots together? Set off your truck alarm with the key fob?? Western North American moose are different than the Eastern ones. Eastern moose would have run or walked away and would not confront you, since you were not between it and the young’n. ❤ Love them! I’m envious of your lifestyle.

On the serious side, they look healthy and not like they are starving but maybe notify DNR. Maybe their habitat isn't providing enough food for their numbers. Super cute thoug. Hysterical they just help themselves!!
