I've been listening to Drab Majesty for over a year now and I've never stopped to think about how deep the meaning of The Demonstration is. For me, it was only track 39 by Design that had a message from Heaven's Gate. Now I realize that the whole album is about this cult. I will never look at my The Demonstration vinyl the same way again. It is definitely one of the most special things I have.

Good analysis. Something that you overlooked, though, relates to the title. Applewhite and Nettles taught in the early years of the group that the two of them would be killed and subsequently resurrected live on television, which would validate their beliefs and convince others to join them. They called this event "the demonstration."

Drab Majesty have been around for quite some time now, slowly gaining traction and popularity. "Cold Souls" has been #1 on my Spotify play list since 2019, every single year. If you like the demonstration, listen to modern mirror, their next album, and then go back completely careless. This band is so incredibly good, right up there with Secret Machines (ten silver drops, Now here is nowhere) and Amusement parks on fire (out of the angeles).

Awesome video, dude! I love Drab Majesty, The Demonstration is legit one of my favorite albums of all time. Props for remembering Unarian Dances too. If you haven't already, you should check out the Unarian cult's public access TV broadcasts. Some of them are on KZbin, it's a deep rabbit hole. Also, I've seen a couple of the Heaven's Gate bunk beds at the Museum of Death in LA. Very eerie, unholy presence among everything else in there.

What makes this album great is: 1. It is aesthetically appealing 2. It doesn’t glamorize the cult it talks about (unlike other bands) 3. Warns about how cults work 4. It is respectful towards the victims
