When I was in elementary school, my classroom held a Halloween dress up party and one of the activities was to dance to the Thriller song But in order to do that, our teacher had to play the music video for us first so that we could learn the choreography Thankfully, my best friend was besides me and she knew I was quite squeamish, so she alerted me to turn away whenever the particularly scary moments of the song appeared, so I avoided getting traumatized for life thanks to her But even what little I saw from the music video was enough for me to get goosebumps anytime I ever saw something related to zombies for a long time

One I'd definitely put up there close to the top would be watching Pinocchio and just... Monstro. Look and listen to the sounds he makes when smoke is pouring out of him, and when he rages trying to put out the flames. Monstro scared the shit out of me as a kid and gave me an anxiety of deep water.

I don't wanna spoil your number 1 entry but I will say this: What scared you (one thing, but not the other), was the exact opposite for me. I didn't really watch horror movies as a kid, but as a huge fan of this entertainer, I had to purposely scare myself (covered my eyes, I'll admit) millions of times growing up. Definitely had nightmares. Still creeps me out now lol.

When I was a kid, as much as I loved playing "Metroid", I had to mute the tv whenever I entered either an item room or an elevator room cuz that music scared me to death. I'm honestly getting goosebumps just typing this lol. Thankfully that song wasn't as scary in the subsequent sequels, but something about the original nintendo version still creeps me out. Super Metroid is my favorite videogame of all time, btw. I've played it probably well over a million times over the last 26 years.

Oh, and since you mentioned Rugrats, one scene that I actually dreamt about was from the episode where Angelica's Dad is giving in to all her demands, is eventually in court trying to defend himself, and he wakes up and finds it's a nightmare he had (or was it). In my dream she actually ate his face (since he was forcing her to eat Broccoli or something). I had that dream probably close to 28 years ago and this video brought it back lol.

Oh, the ReDeads... I had an N64 and plenty of games for it as a kid and that included Ocarina of Time. My mom was actually the one to play through most of the game and she left off before facing Ganondorf. Then I went exploring Hyrule Castle Town and found nothing but ReDeads. Scared the crap out of me

Ok, finished video. Yes, i did jump when the thing happened. Now, i have a distinct movie memory of being traumatized by the sci-fi horror film "Hardware". Maybe it's tame compared to things i've seen later in life, but i saw that movie WAAAY too young. My older brother rented it, and i kind of watched from the hallway ( i dont think he knew i was sort of peeking). For what it is, it's definitely worth a watch if you're into post-apocalyptic, early 90s gorefest caused by an evil robot (the practical effects alone!). Stars a young Dylan McDermott.

Alright, last comment, I promise. Things that scared me as a kid: Large Marge, Superman's anguish scream at the end of the first film, E.T. (I have not watched that film since I'm probably 5 years old), Robocop/Murphy's death, Jack Nicholson/Joker's 'deathstare" at the end of Batman, and believe it or not, I actually still find Arnold quite scary in the first Terminator. Especially later in the film as he gets more damaged and his skin rots.

I remember a sonic comic where robotnik Is holding an unconscious sonic by his neck and his hands where chained looks like he beat sonic good that was definitely not expected in a kids comic. I was in my 20s then but still to see sonic so helpless was eerie

*Goddamnit man, you did not have to show "that scene" from the Shed 17 fan-film.*

Thank god I dodged a bullet there with the fricking walrus/sea lion from Pingu! Haven't watched the show as a wee babby. If you may ask, of course MJ was the first to bring in Nightmare Fuel to music videos. James Rolfe(The Angry Video Nerd)said so in his tribute of the 'King of Pop'.

Woo! Happy Sooner Halloween DD! I remember Pad's video and now can compare with your childhood fears - definately - some moments from videogames are absurdly scary...especially in Sonic games? WHAT THE HELL? XD All i can say about some of mine...well...one moment also been from post-motion movie like...Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb - torturing the animals in the lab scene. Im not sure that movie been for a kids but parents dont give a mind and i watched it as many times as i wanted lol. Movie itself is a wonderful masterpiece by Bolex Brothers. Highly recommend to watch it and all their shorts, on my opinion this studio is quite underrated nowadays. Recomend shorts like: Little Dark Poet, The Saint Inspector, Keep in a Dry Place and Away From Children. They also made a couple of videos for quite very underground music band Startled Insects. Check em out as well if you are intrested. My faved MVs are Igor's horn, Creatures and Black Spring :D
