Alexei and Talal get picked up by Ogmios (School of Zen Motoring series on KZbin and BBC3) in his Vauxhall Corsa and go for a drive around London. They discuss Ogmios' inspiration, the philosophy and martial art of driving, ASMR and, of course, Brecht, Corbyn and firearms.
We really hope you enjoy this special video edition of The Alexei Sayle Podcast. Please let us know in the comments what you think.
Many, many thanks to Ogmios for joining us.

My friend told me about the Zen motoring guy after I regailed him with some of my most recent motoring douchebaggery. I will absolutely be looking up his other KZbin clips as this was sensationally good. Thank you for this.....

I absolutely love both AS and Ogmios and have been fervent supporters of what you both do for many many moons. As far back as '....new motor'. I find it disappointing that there's so much negativity around LTN's - and fence sitting on the subject from Ogmios. They're by no means perfect but unless you want to continue to live in a City dominated by motorised transport and all the 'crap' that brings, then replacing road infrastructure with more universally welcoming routes is the only way forward. It's ably presented as a moment of Zen in the video as you all drive into an LTN with Children and parents walking in the middle of the Street on, I presume their way to or from School. XXXxing amazing in my humble opinion. That's exactly the City we should aspire to live in. x I keep tropical fish in my underpants

Very interesting, and good to see support for another KZbinr. I don't really get resentment against LTNs. I lived in London for 14 years. Guys, you've got buses and tubes. You don't need your precious little tin box to get around.

Ashley Neal (Ogmios last guest) is the son of former Liverpool FC's highly decorated player Phil Neal and Ashley was a former professional footballer at Liverpool too. Alexei being a big Liverpool fan would know this,I imagine.

Another great episode. I’ve been a big fan of Ogmios and his shows and videos for a long time. He has definitely influenced my conscientious driving around the streets of north London. Good chat!

At one point you ask whether Ogmios thinks his videos make drivers safer, or better drivers, something like that. Let me tell you Birmingham is cowboy country, where people accelerate toward roundabouts, jam the roundabouts, drive the wrong way down streets and all sorts. We often resort to the Ogmios school of motoring to keep calm and maintain our zen, otherwise we’d be jumping out with a tyre iron!

It was well past the time when a Zen master would present a driving podcast, these are times where everything is accounted for and all possibilities are manifested for you, just so long as you apply your consciousness accurately- as we dream, so we create.

Talal sorry to hear you were ill and glad to see both of you return. Maybe worth following up on the Ashley Neal reference as he is a little zen as well. He has set up a cycling channel and might be worth getting Alexei back on the bike. Might do a tour of Liverpool and cycling infrastructure. Think Ashely may have a famous footballing dad that even Alexei may have heard of.

13:00 ARENA, yes, classic documentaries. The pacing was reflective and the pov was offbeat and the editing from one scene to another might throw you a curveball. Of course, in those days, Alexei was one big curveball.

Speed Bumps are great. In a rural environment you would drive with care due to poorer roads, farm vehicle spillages, blind bends, high hedges, fewer lit roads etc. etc. In cities and towns that isn't the case but there are more hazards due to there being more people/traffic, so if the speed bumps keep you driving at the appropriate posted speed - good, they're doing their job. I drive/cycle/walk and public transport, am kind to animals and hate electric scooters on pavements ;)

I’ve been a fan of Ogmios for a few years, as well as a regular listener to Alexi’s podcast, so for me it’s an opposite reaction. I love it when different podcasts and KZbin channels do crossovers. It’s almost feels like when Batman shows up in a Marvel movie

I completely disagree that driving is intimate. I find it the opposite. Car driving makes us selfish and insular. You guys are unusual. Even car parking is a total study in selfishness. And living down here in Devon, the number of drivers who are unwilling or unable to reverse! You find out especially if you are riding on a bus, which I often am. everyone absolutely everyone in a car expects the bus to reverse! it's a public service vehice for goodness sake, get out of the way! But you are right about the ambulance thing.
