I really love how self assured Alhaitham is in a way he knows who he is and what he wants. He doesn’t want the grandness of life but to simply be at home and have his peace. Knowing these characteristics of Alhaitham makes the fact that him inviting Kaveh to the house they were rewarded with their joint research (albeit Kaveh letting it go before) is intentional AND shows that despite the bickering, he does consider Kaveh as part of his home and the peace in his life (quite ironic with how they were roasting each other here lmao but heyy we all have different dynamics I guess lol)

People don't talk a lot about this SQ because it's too philosophical. Imagine that. The moment the game becomes smart, it gets "less hyped" about. The writers never only have to write good quests. They have to write good quests that is ALSO easily grasped by the loudest portion of players, which consists of those who don't give a fuck about anything other than the gacha, so that they don't just quit Genshin after Act II of Mondstadt because they fail to win 50/50 on the latest banner, and go infect another unfortunate gacha game with the same hivemind mentality (which this SQ touches on).

It's the same with Ayato's story quests, I love those really well-thought complex story quests so much!! Alhaitham's, Ayato's and Wriothesley's are really up there for me!! I hope they continue to create those kind of stories they are so good!!

One of my favorite SQ in Sumeru, the concept of hiveminds and collective consciousness was very intriguing, Alhaitham 10heading Siraj was so satisfying, just beating them by their own game.

Really boggles me that people still think after quests like this that genshin is a game for kids or that it isn't dark... fun fact(not so fun fact): this quest was slightly inspired by an indian movie called "3 idiots" in which there was also a character named Raju that also attempted suicide. The difference is that the character survived in the movie but here in genshin he died...how is that not dark??

I am rewatching this goated quest (both because I love Alhaitham as a character and because your "see ya" moment was and will remain hilarious), and I just realized Saraj's whole "they are way better in the Hivemind, working for me, rather than outside where they will be outcasts" mindset kinda mirrors the whole Decarabian story Like here: 1:04:27 "What is the difference between here and the outside?" combined with the thoughts of the other members of the hivemind from before who were saying that staying in the hivemind is so much easier because they don't have to work as much, kinda mirrors the whole "the outside is dangerous for humans because of the Archon War, but with me here, humans will thrive" mentality that Decarabian seemed to have before he went out of control with keeping the people inside the Old Mondstadt and not letting them out (as far as I remember) Despite watching this quest many times I only now made this connection (and I know the situations were different in essence but the behavior of Saraj and Decarabian - minus Saraj's whole genius complex - seems to overlap) It's really cool how Hoyoverse can just make Character Story Quests that seem to (at least in part) reference the past that another nation went through and still come to the same conclusion: "Humans are not creatures that are easy to control" P.S.: My "Eureka" moment for the Saraj-Decarabian similarity was Illyas going: "Only in here [the Hive] can I be free" which brought Mondstadt to mind, which then brought Dainsleif's quote "What does freedom really mean when demanded of you by a God?". The word "god" made me remember Decarabian and then my mind just went ham with the possible similarity. (Also, Illyas, my boy, having your name stripped from you and then replaced with a number is not freedom. I do hope he got some type of therapy after everything is done and he served whatever sentence he had because he really needs it)

Siraj just done this in 2023 meanwhile Dottore probably completed the same research like on 1650s 😂 (his segments might be an advanced, or even perfected form of Hivemind bc the real Dottore can mind jump from 1 segment to another, that's what he did when he talked to Nahida at the end of the AQ. I knew Alhaitham was on the case early on! 💯🔥💪🏾 I just wasn't sure how he would fix it! But I'm like he really should rethink being the "Grand Sage Alhaitham" it suits him and his specific talents well. But I understand that's not his desires.
