I still prefer the air tech 5 because it has a better coverage around shoulder and collarbone. Also I don’t need worry too much about ripping the fabric since it’s protected by jacket as well.

yes but it suffer from being to heavy and stuffy im currently running the dainese smart jacket ls its similar to this lets not forget the best protection is the you wear the tech 5 good as it is its simply to heavy and stuffy for me to use everyday and i tested them both before i made my choice the dainese is lighter more comfortable better breathing and sure the protection is not as great but being easier to move aorund in also better then being harder to move

Hi, how would you compare the protection between the tech air 5 under a jacket and the Sabre RST jacket? Personally I much prefer the RST because the airbag is already fitted in the jacket but I can’t find much information on internet. Thanks
@sportbiketrackgear Жыл бұрын
I have not seen the Sabre airbag jacket but it does use the same system as the race suit which we sell and Max races in. IMO having the airbag fully integrated into the garment makes the experience better. Like anything there are pros and cons. When the airbag is integrated into the garment you can not use it with other suits or jackets. In the event the garment is damaged in a crash you have to replace it and can not take the airbag out and use it with another. The cost of the RST gear is less than some of the larger brands which is also a benefit. - Van

curious to see how this would be in the summer. it doesn't seem to have any ventilation between the bladder tubes
@sportbiketrackgear Жыл бұрын
There are some perforations between the tubes to allow for as much airflow as you could get without compromising the airbag. End of the day this adds a layer and will have some negative impact on the airflow for sure. IMO the additional safety is worth the tradeoffs. - Van

@sportbiketrackgear2 жыл бұрын
The 3 does not wrap around the side of the ribs like the 5 does. I believe this was done to allow this to fit well over the jacket and be comfortable. IMO the protection offered by the 3 will still be a game changer as compared to just a back protector. - Van

I like the idea that it can be rolled up and stored while off the bike since it relies on the back protector of your riding jacket. I don't like where they put the controller and air canister as this seems like a serious potential hazard if you fall (hope the air bag deploys and is between the entire unit and the rider so rider's back isn't injured when hitting pavement.

This might be the answer to my gear issue. I have a new mesh alpinestars jacket that will fit the airbag underneath. But I have a leather jacket and a full suite that it wouldn't fit underneath. So I might actually be able to use this on all my gear.. both over and under. One question is I do have a alpinstars back protector... would this fit into the air 3 pocket?

Hi, great video as always, the technology looks very interesting. But I still don’t quite get what makes the jacket deploy. Are there built in sensors or something that sense that the rider is in the midst of a fall and make it deploy while rider is in the air? Or the sensors make it deploy as soon as any part of the jacket makes contact with the pavement? If you can please clarify so that I can understand the tech better, that would be great. PS, I also left a question in an older video you posted about Driven handgrips install on a ninja 400, if you have a chance, please take a look, thanks a lot!
@sportbiketrackgear Жыл бұрын
The vest contains sensors that collect data as well as a module that interprets the data to determine if it needs to deploy. If you have a crash this device deploys before the rider impacts something. We have been using the Tech Air Race for 4 years now and have tested it many times. - Van

Thanks for the informative video. I've got a Alpinestars Tech Air 5 and I cannot get it underneath my track suit, due to the large module on the back. It interferes with the rear hump of my Dainese suit. So, when I saw this new Tech Air 3, looking so slim and lovely, my first thought was, "wow, this would be great under my tracksuit! But apparently it is not designed for track. :-(. Realistically, is there a good reason why I could not wear this under my track suit on a track day and expect good protection? I suspect the reason is the deployment algorithm is not designed for track forces but more for street (meaning, I suspect the Tech Air 3 is more sensitive and may have an unwanted deployment on the track?). Would love more info on the possibility of wearing this under a track suit for a track day! Thank you guys!
@sportbiketrackgear2 жыл бұрын
You are correct it does not have the proper algorithm for the race track. I know some riders who have used the Klim street vest on the track who suffered multiple false deployments which would deter me from recommending this one on the track. - Van

@sportbiketrackgear9 ай бұрын
We do not offer the Helite product so I am not very familiar with it. From the images I see on their site it looks pretty similar to the Tech Air 3 unit. For the neck this has more than enough coverage to limit the range of motion for the helmet in a crash. The main purpose for that is to prevent the helmet from contacting the collarbone and breaking it. This unit also looks to have more coverage for the chest and the back than the Helite. - Van
