Aloha Nick is Armando again Aloha 🤙🏽 just want to thank you for replying to me! How ever I’m still a little bit confused because you said if my car has a keyless feature it sure work on my trunk right? Well I can open my doors keyless by just placing my hand on the handle so this means my car supports keyless entry right? So why is still not working when I try to open my trunk whit my feet?
@npoleary8 ай бұрын
No worries! Well it is for the UK, but as I mention in my videos specs vary massively. For example all cars are standard equipped with Sat Nav in the UK but some countries round the world don’t have that. Same for Keyless, in the UK, 9/10 if you have Keyless Go (where you can unlock the car with just the key in your pocket and handle) then you’ll have hands free access too. There are other considerations, specs vary of course round the world so this might not be present on non UK cars, there was a chip semiconductor shortage that I heard affected some specs of cars a couple of years ago and/or it might be on a different package in a different country. Best thing to do for specs is to chat to Mercedes staff and they can help, reach out to a local dealer and they’ll give you hand and offer tailored advice.

What is the best mode to put the car in so it charges while driving? Meaning battrey level will go up while using the car. Tks
@npoleary3 жыл бұрын
Hey Elenia, there is no charge program while driving as the car cannot do this. The idea of a plug-in hybrid is to get the electricity from something that isn’t fuel like a charge point or the mains in your house. Battery level just keeps the battery level where it is as the moment and prioritises using the engine. The car also does have brake recuperation which helps put some power back into the battery but won’t recharge it fully. Hope that answers your question
@neog12483 жыл бұрын
Great video, Nick! I have a couple of questions regarding this plug-in-hybrid specifically, I often like to sit in the car with the engine turned off and listen to music for quite a while. I’m afraid that the 12v battery in this car would drain and make the car unable to start. Can you please clarify that for me? The second question, since it is a hybrid, if I turn on the engine (when it’s running on electric) while sitting at a standstill on my driveway, does the 12v battery drain then by using the radio, or is it charged by the hybrid battery? Or does the radio/infotainment use the power from the hybrid battery when the engine is running on electric (at a standstill)? Also what type of glass is used in the side windows? I’m quite uncertain in these regards and it would be nice if you could answer them! Thank you!
@npoleary3 жыл бұрын
Good question! Honestly it would take a while for the 12V battery to drain but yes you’re right it is charged by the hybrid system when everything is on (ignition on and ready to drive etc) Don’t worry as well if for any reason the 12V battery did get low from not actually starting it and driving you will have had notifications on the car’s screen, in the app and via email too. I’m sure you’ll see one of them! Hope that answers your questions

@npoleary3 жыл бұрын
Hey How to Make, that’s a good video suggestion there! Thank you! But to help answer your question now, it’s up to you! For starts a full electric vehicle is going to cost more than a plug-in hybrid. But because it runs solely on electricity, it’ll be cheaper to run in the long run. It depends on the journeys you do and what you use the car for. Because my daily journeys are pretty much always under 20 miles, I could actually make do with a plug-in hybrid and if I went further, then it’ll just switch over to the engine. What sort of journeys do you do on average? What sort of distance?

Hi Nick , Electric mode: I noticed when I make a small trip i.e. 3-4 miles on Electric only mode, the trip data on the app shows a difference in total travel miles and electric miles, a tiny difference like half a mile difference for the above journey, does that mean even in electric mode it would still use the petrol engine . It does the same in other modes like Comfort too, and I can swear the engine was not engaged atall, so what is this difference?

When talking about Dynamic Select drive modes, it would be good to mention that use of navi will influence the behavior of (at least) the Comfort mode. If you set some destination and use Comfort mode, it will optimize the use of electric driving for the whole route so that basically the battery will last to the end of the journey. This is significant difference compared to driving Comfort mode without navi (which means battery first and the rest of the journey will use petrol). In this context, I miss two things. Firstly, it would be useful to have option for round-trip, so that the battery would last the whole trip from home to place where there is no charging opportunity available, and back home. Now I need to set the final destination as home address and set intermediate destination as the place I am actually going. This works, but it is not quite straightforward to do. Secondly (because of lack of the round-trip option), I would like to set intermediate destination via Mercedes Me application and send it to the car. According to my knowledge it is not possible at the moment. Any comments for these?
@npoleary4 жыл бұрын
Hey Juha, absolutely thank you! I try to balance detail but not too much detail in the videos and yes you’re right, any data you can send to the car (i.e letting it know where you’re going) it will help. As far as I’ve seen also that you can send single destinations to the car via the app but not multiple ones. Theoretically it could be done I guess with a software update but I wouldn’t know if that’s in the works or not. We’ll just have to keep an eye out!
@patriklinden13724 жыл бұрын

Hey Paul, unfortunately no. The first C-Class and E-Class models you could but it defeats the point of having a hybrid in the first place. It’s convenient for sure the idea of a hybrid is to power some of the miles with the engine off to combat emissions. Plus when you’re actually on the road, it’s cheaper to go a mile on electricity (from the mains) than fuel by about a 1/3 so even if you could, I wouldn’t.

In October they changed the spec. it won't have electrically operated seats, electric tailgate operation and the upgraded sound system and that's what I know about, on top of that MB increased the price by £2500. Until governments sort themselves out with charging sources and manufacturers solve the issue of recharging rates the only way forward for the foreseeable future is self charging hybrids! Does MB have a plan to introduce self charging models?
@npoleary4 жыл бұрын
Don’t worry the charging infrastructure grows month by month! On average, about 500 new connectors go up a month in the UK at the moment but I can imagine it’s going to increase even further as we draw closer to 2030. Now it’s an interesting topic Self Charging Hybrids as they sound really cool but due to emission regulations to help with the warming of the planet, self charging hybrids don’t do enough to help. They reduce emissions but nowhere near as much as a plug-in hybrid. Take the Self Charging Lexus UX 250H for example, it’s emissions are 94 g/km but a GLA 250e Plug-in is 32 g/km. Manufacturers are set targets to get the emissions down as low as possible and if they don’t, they are fined and potentially go out of business. I’d say it’s unlikely Mercedes-Benz will but plug-in hybrids are easy to live with! If you have off road parking, you can potentially wake up everyday with a full charged car and a pre-heated or pre-cooled interior!
@npoleary4 жыл бұрын
Ah Mercedes have got that covered too, regarding battery production. Daimler & Mercedes have got a complete section on their website about sustainability and battery production in their new plant. So that would mean some of the miles are from braking regeneration and some from the combustion engine, thats where I get slightly worried, if it is also from my combustion engine, how much if it uses the petrol to charge the battery? as that wouldn’t really be economical right? or maybe I don’t exactly know how I get the total of these electric miles.

Hey Asif, to be honest it’ll be all down to the various mode you’re in on DYNAMIC SELECT or even the brake recuperation mode on the paddles. Rest assured the only way it will be gaining extra power would be when your foot isn’t on the accelerator and you’re slowing down with the brake or just gliding to a stop.

Anybody else having issues with their GLA 250e model making clicking noise when braking and accelerating around 10-15 mph speed? A few others have too on Facebook Mercedes group, got mine booked

After a lot of consideration for the next car in my update cycle (2021) and getting excited initially with M/B’s hybrid models, but now realised that this hybrid design really is a product made for the car industry, to allow the industry to transition and get us consumer to pay for it. One really has to question why should owners care to pay for both the maintenance of an ICE AND an electric drive train in an unnecessarily heavy car? Individually, the performance of the electric drive alone is pretty pathetic while the ICE alone is also pretty poor. Love my A-Klasse, but it would appear my next will be a straight jump to full EV (?Tesla) and then come back to M/B when the old car industry (M/B, BMW, Audi and others included) has made the full transition to EV and offers a product that’s competitive to Tesla and other full EV brands.

Hey Weiyun, I guess that’s why there’s different manufacturers to choose from out there! 🤓 Tesla have an advantage that they can put all of their focus on making electric cars because that’s all they do. I’d love one of them personally, well to be honest any electric car! But the idea of plug-in hybrids is a transitional or gateway car to a fully electric car. Some people out there physically would struggle with fully electric, terraced houses, flats or people who do high mileage each day. For most of us, we don’t travel that far so shouldn’t be an issue. Everyone’s choice at the end of the day, but I can’t wait to see what cars come out across the board in Mercedes and other brands! Exciting times!

@@npoleary When Tesla models can do 600-700km on a full charge and can fast charge to 80% in 30mins, I don’t think there’ll be too many owners have higher demands.

My problem with Mercedes electric is rang of go with one charge is 1/3 of Tesla
@npoleary4 жыл бұрын
Hey Parsa, don’t worry most manufacturers have to balance making petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric. Tesla put all of their focus and attention on electric and it shows! I’ll say watch this space over the coming years. Mercedes even have a model coming out this year with a 435 mile range. This beats the Tesla Model S Long Range Plus as it’s 405 miles on WLTP! Exciting times!

engine and hybrido system renault dacia, or what is the same a renault d disguised as mercedes but at super premium prices, it does not even carry the 9g tronic automatic transmission, much better than the problematic 7 and 8 g tronic especially in smooth consumption and especially in reliability, delicate expensive car and when the electrical load is finished it pollutes more, spends twice as much and loses power, etc ,,

Hey Vargfranz Gulk, Ah don’t worry I’ve heard this many times before but rest assured the entry level engines in the compact car range are not just Renault engines, Mercedes and Renault work together to produce a very highly economical, low emission very popular engine. Mercedes put their own tech and spin into it and put Formula One technology such as Nanoslide and even cylinder shut-off called CAMTRONIC. None of this is found in the Renault’s engines so no, they are not the same at all. Gearboxes are a nice easy one, with this low powered engine 9 gears is a bit excessive for such an entry level engine which is why it’s reserved for cars that most of the time have nearer 200 horsepower and above. But yes due to the way they are designed, 9G as it isn’t a dual clutch transmission and is a multi-clutch transmission, it is smoother by design. Also if a hybrid runs out of power, then yes I guess technically it would pollute more but it would be no more than having 2-3 people sat in the back as the battery weighs only 150kg. Hope that answers your queries! 🤓

@@npoleary I am sorry to inform you once again that the e 250 is a renault origin engine, the same one that carries the renault megane and some dacia models etc, it is simply a renault disguised as a mercedes benz but at a higher price, and of course the automatic transmission The 9 g tronic torque converter is superior in everything to the problematic 7 and 8 g double clutch are no longer the reference, and Mercedes Benz prefers to continue selling these because it has many in stop and also it is cheaper etc ,,, plug-in hybrids are a hoax to get the famous false eco zero label, and once again I repeat with a ridiculous autonomy in pure electricity once the electric charge is exhausted they pollute twice they lose a lot of power and spend a lot more, and above all they are more expensive delicate etc ,,
