If you are watching this in August 2024 or later, Masterson has been sentenced to thirty years in prison. He was sentenced in December 2023 and will probably spend the rest of his life in prison. This sentencing was based on two charges.

When people ask victims of abuse why they don’t come forward, this is why. It is bad enough when people don’t believe you or question your motives for coming forward, but the amount of harassment these women have received on top of that is just horrendous. Having more of this context just makes what Ashton and Mila wrote in their letters and their dismissive apology that much worse. I commend Topher Grace for keeping his distance from his cast mates, even when people were calling him names for not being super friendly with them off set, and for his wife offering words of encouragement and support to the victims.
@oh_riley7104 Жыл бұрын
I've repeatedly said how grateful I am to have kept quiet about my abusers in the last few months. It's literally scary what happens to some women, and never fails to re-traumatize. I feel so much for them, but I am grateful when at least some people finally get a bit of justice. It's the one thing that keeps that one shred of hope alive.

As someone else already commented, you are consistently ahead of the times when it comes to discourse calling out people like Masterson, Depp, etc., and their enablers. This video feels especially timely and brilliant, given the recent sentencing, and given Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis's horrendously bad letters supporting leniency for their abusive convicted friend. I REALLY hope your channel gets all the praise and attention it deserves, because there aren't enough people out there calling out gross and harmful public figures like you do, especially at the depth, care, and attention to detail you give to these cases.

i really appreciate this youtuber for actually saying the words rape and assault without censorship. so many video essayists i watch are afraid to say what actually happened and have whole essays about rape full of euphemisms calling it "grape" and so on so forth. its an infantilizing trend and frankly underplays the crimes they want to discuss. having things said straight here is really nice.

@@CaymenLeP the point is that theyre not naughty words--they're real words. sure, i know what the euphemism means, but it's ridiculous for serious accusations to be coached in euphemisms like "grape" and "unalive". i get your point about reach though--primarily this is the fault of companies like youtube. i still think it's worth applauding medusone for speaking the truth without censorship, even though it may hurt their overall reach

Topher was the only one not fucking around with alcohol, drugs, and whatever the hell else. To quote Grace, "“I was, of that cast, the most boring. So when it came to going out after the show and partying, I just was boring.” It's just an outright lie that Masterson was keeping people from using drugs on That 70s Show. Lisa Robin Kelly DIED of a drug overdose, leading to Laurie having to be recast. Masterson has been a big time drinker pretty much his entire life, and there's no way he wasn't also using drugs. He certainly used them to commit rape.
@tegantalks9612 Жыл бұрын
I think the public owes Topher an apology. He probably felt weirded out by his cast mates but couldn’t prove they had done anything wrong, at the time, without looking bad and killing his career. I think him distancing himself was the best thing he could have done.
@tarik6990 Жыл бұрын
Lisa Robin Kelly wasn't close to Masterson and didn't hang out with the rest of the gang, her drug issues were happening regardless of That 70s Show and she died of a drug overdose almost 10 years AFTER being kicked out of the show.

@@wendywehner2320 I'm not really meaning to insult anyone's politics so much as the way celebrities use political performance to their advantage. That's what I mean by "faux liberal," because it's motivated by PR and often inconsistent to how they really think and behave off camera. As is the case with Kutcher. You and I as non-celebrities can identify with any political label we want and it can be authentic because we have no one to appease, and no one who will reward us for a grift. 4:59 see, I see the repeated references to DM “refusing to be around drugs” are actually a subtle challenge to the Jane Does in this case; nearly every woman who has accused Masterson of this crime has cited his use of illegal chemical restraints - than means drugs, kids. So by asserting, repeatedly, that DM does not tolerate drug use and abuse, the statements suggest that the Jane Does lack credibility.

Thank you for this deep dive into the Danny Masterson case. I'm one of the people that have been hearing about his accusations like a distant rumor and have never really gotten to the heart of them; thanks to this video now I have. And wow, I never could have guessed that it's this bad! He's so guilty that it's insane that anyone could defend him, which makes Kutcher's defense of him extremely repulsive and immoral. I've never been a particular fan of Kutcher's but after knowing all these things about him, I'll be making active efforts to avoid anything connected to him. (I wish there was a database to go to to keep track of celebrities' problematic and abusive takes and behaviors cause it's getting really hard to keep track of them lol) It seems to me that the Entertainment's industry's silence about Masterson and Kutcher's recent defense of him may be signs that they're preparing for a "comeback" of sorts for him, especially now that Depp has given abusers everywhere some level of confidence that they can get away with A LOT in the glaring eyes of the public. And this worries me, it worries me too with regards to his criminal trial cause as obvious as it seems that he's guilty to anyone that's dug deep into the evidence, as you point out, there's no telling what biases or designs the presiding judge and the chosen jury may come up with. I really do hope though that he loses both cases for the sake of his victim-survivors and for the sake of other victim-survivors, women, and the former members of the Church of Scientology. Speaking of the CoS, it has all the tell-tale signs of another NXIVM and, like NXIVM, it seems to be only a matter of time before it is exposed and falls apart. Still, its having bigger-name celebrities inside it will protect it for much longer than we may expect. Ultimately, I echo your feelings with respect to this whole thing: fvck Masterson, fvck CoS, fvck Kutcher, fvck Laura, fvck Esquire... and fvck Steven Miller (whichever Miller he is lol). On the other hand, I hope the best for Masterson's victim-survivors. A note of slight correction: 3.4 million, not billion, Buddhists 🤭

Yes, thank you! I despise juries. They are, for the most part, far less accurate than judges, and far more influenced by prejudice. What should happen is that juries are still present, and not able to deliver a verdict. However, they are allowed to deliver an opinion on a verdict that can be grounds for appeal. That should be the limit.

Glad to get to binge your content after you hit 1k so you can actually get paid for the insane amount of work that goes into all of this, and so glad to watch this video after Danny was found guilty. After the first mistrial, my hopes were not high, so the fact that the jury convicted him of just enough to ensure he'd be doing hard time was a massive relief. The rumors about Topher Grace not hanging with the rest of the cast definitely REALLY aged well, and also this is a super deep celebrity gossip cut that could or could not be true, but I recall that Laura Prepon's current husband Ben Foster was on and off with Robin Wright for a long time, and the rumors/speculation about their relationship was that he was into Scientology and she wasn't so the church kinda tried to break the relationship up. I think he's sort of one of those people in the Will Smith-ish category who has never said that he was a Scientologist but had way more connections to Scientology than a normal person would have, and based on the sequence of events I think a lot of people guessed that his relationship with Laura Prepon was a move to suck him back into Scientology. That obviously doesn't preclude the possibility that he was a factor in Laura Prepon's decision to bail, but her super abrupt turnaround after being so hardcore for so long plus his connections to Scientology make it seem like something else could have been the deciding factor. Clearly, whatever it was, it must have been pretty compelling given how many horrible things she overlooked or supported in service of being a "good Scientologist."

I can't believe this video has under a thousand views. You have enough good info here to absolutely destroy Ashton Kutcher if anyone actually wanted to see through his facade. His refusal to speak out against Scientology is proof in itself that his commitment to fighting sex trafficking is an illusion at best and controlled opposition at worst. Scientology's crimes are well-documented at this point and in fact it was the inspiration for NXIVM. One day, I think a lot of people are going to be embarrassed that they never saw through Kutcher's bullshit even though the red flags were there all along. Great video. Subbed.

@medusonegirl Жыл бұрын
I said "known Scientologist" in the video when I should have said "rumored Scientologist." He's never publicly identified as a Scientologist as far as I'm aware (and certainly Steve Miller is a common enough name that the reference in the civil suit against the CoS could be a complete coincidence), but there are longstanding speculations and a general attitude from many that he's affiliated with the church somehow due his and other band members' proximity to other Scientologists. I've seen some people assert over the years that he joined the church in the '70s, sometime around when "The Joker" came out, but not with any specific citing source-just a collection of random people convinced of this, wherever the rumor originates. Of course, it could just be that Miller happens to know a lot of Scientologists but isn't a part of the church himself, which wouldn't be unlikely for anyone in the entertainment industry, OR he perhaps took some classes in the '70s (which could account for the rumors) but isn't currently a member. I definitely shouldn't have been so declarative in the video, but I was so focused on the Danny Masterson stuff that I think I just kinda blurted out the Steve Miller comment without being super careful about my wording.

With respect to the Depp case, Depp himself wanted the trial to be public because he knew Amber was lying. Also most abusive partners (ie Depp) have a history of abusing previous partners. None of his partners have ever accused him of abuse. And even his famous co-stars have not said anything. I find it hard to believe that Helena Bonham-Carter would not be taken seriously if she were to alleged that Depp was a bad person . Granted yes the tiktok were tacky, but I wish you were paying attention to how Amber behaved. She instantly stopped fake crying, and she was EXTREMELY rude to the court and jury. And she literally lied, and she has a history of abusing an ex girlfriend. I wish you would think critically and look at the evidence. This is deeply disturbing . As for Ashton, put yourself in his shoes (before the verdict/while trial was ongoing) your friend whom you have known for decades is accused of horrible crimes. We are often blinded to the faults of those we love. Obviously once the evidence showed he was guilty, Ashton and Mila should have maybe taken time out to reflect and not say anything. I find it hard to believe you would drop a friend as soon as accusations came out
@larbot3433 Жыл бұрын
Medusone has 10+ hours of videos that go over ALL of the evidence in Depp's case in detail, she HAS looked at the evidence. Depp was abusive, this is undeniable once you read the evidence. The fact that some of Depp's friends said that he was a nice guy does NOT negate the evidence that exists that he was abusive. The fact that you think Amber was "rude" (a subjective opinion, NOT a fact) does NOT negate the evidence that exists that he was abusive. The fact that Amber allegedly grabbed her then girlfriends arm in an airport does NOT negate the evidence that exists that he was abusive. What's deeply disturbing is your need to come on here and defend celebrity rapists and abusers.
@larbot3433 Жыл бұрын
The thing about narcissistic abusers is that they do a very good job of convincing everybody around them that they are good guys. How often have you heard people say that about a murderer? "He was such a nice guy, never suspected he would do something like this" or "He was a family man" after murdering his wife and children. How you feel about them as a person does not negate the abuse they commit behind closed doors. This viewpoint is super problematic and is the reason why victims have such a difficult time coming forward in the first place..
@JohnSmith-eo5sp Жыл бұрын
The reason why Depp wanted to make it a public trial was to totally and globally humiliate Heard. It was all a giant PR war for him. He could only resurrect his own sinking career by destroying Amber's reputation. The UK Court of civil law found that JD had committed physical and sexual abuse of his wife on 12 of 14 occasions. Actress Ellen Barken testified Depp could be insanely jealous and he threw a bottle at her!
