I haven't thought about that in YEARS and I still feel bad for him. The commentary/internet drama community was so riddled with drama, and toxicity and yet as a teen I thought it would be sooo cool to be a funny popular commentator as a job. It feels like as a collective the internet was just drawn to drama at the time. I can say I definitely don't look back fondly on those days. I'm quite comfortable being an internet nobody rather than an egoistic tool that uses fame to manipulate.

I’m going to disagree with the statement made in the video that Slazo was being so awful by suggesting different or no antidepressants for the sake of increasing her libido. My bf and I have had this same conversation because we actively wanted to share in a more happy, productive sex live and it’s a known fact that antidepressants interfere with that. Slazo never demanded it, only suggested. I get so sick of these chicks lying about abuse and pretending they’re just pathetic, helpless creatures with no autonomy or authority over their lives because some big bad mean ol’ boy “made” them do something or whatever, when they really didn’t. SA is an EXTREMELY serious thing and an EXTREMELY serious thing to allege. If anyone is lying or exaggerating it, I think they should get jail time.

for real though, the headlock thing is *terrifying*. folks, if your abuser grabs your neck/chokes you while they're hurting you, the likelihood of them killing you skyrockets by magnitudes. if someone does that to you, regardless of the gender dynamics, please get help and leave as safely as possible.
@meifennellysieu7510

Can confirm as someone who takes self-defense. A lot of the defense we're learning in my class are related to headlocks, head/neck/hair grabs, chokes, et cetera. Physical abuse is no joke, even if the abuser is untrained. Edit: Also, gun and weapons disarming. Even if someone is untrained with a gun, that doesn't negate ANY danger whatsoever. A significant proportion of gun-related deaths are from accidental discharges.

I have staunchly hated everyone associated with the Slazo drama since; I don't trust and can't trust people willing to blindly believe or purposely tear someone down. It's especially interesting how their current fans seem to really hate when people bring up the incident, I remember someone getting so angry with me when I said I didn't feel anything for kwite when he was falsely accused, like "he apologized, and moved on!" Ok, and? I don't like the creators involved, because I know they can't be trusted, and they got to move on - Slazo doesn't post anymore. One little apology doesn't erase what they did.

My heart goes out to Alice after hearing her say she wasn’t an angel. I was in an emotionally abusive relationship for years in my 20’s. It was on-again-off-again for several years but the final nail in the coffin was the night I realized that, in my attempts to defend myself, I had become abusive as well. It was a truly horrifying epiphany. I vividly remember standing in front of my washing machine as it hit, screaming “GET OUT” over and over, without giving him time to argue. My hands were clenching a grey Xaiver zip up sweatshirt I was loading into the wash. I just kept yelling “GET OUT” until he stormed out of the apartment. I ran to the door, locked it, and that was it. It was fully over. To this day, I feel guilty for some of the things I said during that phase, despite my friends telling me I shouldn’t. Abuse warps the victim in terrible ways, though, and many never really get over it.

One thing I'm grateful for on Alice's behalf: Alex seems to not be very good at the love-bombing/begging forgiveness stage of the Intimate Partner Violence cycle which I think made it easier for Alice to leave after the second violent outburst from him rather than further down the line. This is not to shame anyone who stayed longer. There are people who are absolute masters at that phase and/or their genuine own trauma engenders compassion and traps their partner (but in no way excuses what they do). Alex seems to be very poor at it.

@@mimes6424 No see you’re sort of right in that they usually know it’s not socially okay. But the fundamental issue of abuser mentality (that is not due to Substance use or insanity) is that they don’t think their behaviour is wrong/not okay. They believe it’s not only “okay” but usually even reasonable and/or justified. the reason they hide it is usually because they’re convinced that other people, wouldnt understand or maybe even that they are more enlightened or better, than others. This version - the narcissistic or psychopathic version (that term is pretty outdated now clinically, but for readability I’m just saying it in layman’s terms) is what i think Alex falls under. Of course I can’t diagnose him, it’s only a glimpse of behaviour (not that i even could, I’m a psych student, not a psychiatrist. But i think any professional could point out that it’s likely the case, because of the overwhelming documentation Alice has done. If Alex does have a PD like narcissism, he wont change, because the issue with treating something like NPD is that they fundamentally believe they’re in the right. You cannot treat someone who doesn’t think their behaviour is wrong or that even if they recognise something as wrong, they will justify it or reason it with something (E.g. a victim mentality. I hurt you because i was sad/have trauma etc.) I heard an expert in NPD sum it up pretty good once. NPD is a diagnosis where the person “doesn’t need” help but everyone around them does. It’s quite disturbing to read the clinical documentation, but also comforting to recognise if you have been impacted by people like this. What is continually hard to accept though is the very fact that you cannot reach them, social shame, public scrutiny no matter what, they will still see themselves as the either in the right or the victim

@@hospitable_ghost I'm probably going to get hate for this but Johnny Depp is a perfect example. He was found guilty of 12 counts of abuse but because Amber Heard wasn't a "perfect victim" (which don't exist) people refuse to believe that he isn't an abuser, even after all the information that came out after the more recent trial where he claimed he wanted to r-word her dead body. Sidenote - It's very strange how people think that the recent deformation trial now means that he isn't guilty when in reality it was a way for him to punish Amber for speaking about his abuse.

He's got an abnormally large cranium to go along with the jaw/barely being able to speak. I'm nearly sure he also has a legitimate hunchback. Now, that might just be a result of terrible posture but if you add it the list of other things I'm leaning towards inbreeding. Also take into account the lack of emotional/physical maturity which is also common in inbreeding. This guy looks and acts like a hormonal 14 year old, but is actually 25 fucking years old. I really would love to get a look at his family tree. Would not surprise me if his parents turned out to be at least 2nd cousins or something.

It’s really cathartic to see this being covered in a j Aubrey video, knowing it’s going to be well researched, as someone who used to be an avid watcher of that commentary circle at the time and saw the Slazo and HWS stuff go down. It was unfortunately no surprise when hearing about him for the first time since then only because of his abusive behavior also applying to his offline relationships, but I think it’s really good to not only amplify the voices of victims speaking out but also show that’s it’s part of a clear pattern of behavior and not just some “isolated incident”.

I only knew about the Slazo situation and spat with iNabber and just accepted that he was just a loser and an asshole, not a literal criminal. Hearing all the things Alex did to Alice and all the previous partners he had made me so surprised, not a single person he was friends with knew about the things he was doing. Especially when a couple of them were publicly posting on social media about being discontent with their relationship. At best, Alex was just really good at sweeping it under the rug and convincing others that nothing was wrong. which, considering his track record of getting a lot of practice maniplating others makes sense. At worst, they were simply apathetic towards it which considering how forgiving they were towards every other Alex controversy he's gotten into seems to be a running theme. Regardless it's just so unbelievable that almost not a single person knew outside of people he was directly abusing.

I find it unbelievable that his friends apparently didn't know, especially considering the person explaining how it was openly talked about by creators how nasty he was. Ugh this was a hard watch. Great video as always. If possible, would you be willing to include some info on the cycle of abuse in the future? I've worked with DV victims and the visualizing of the cycle has always been really helpful. Domestic abuse is so, so common. We see these cases because these people have hundreds of eyes on them. Imagine what goes on to regular every-day people with no one seeing or recording anything. If you're feeling mistreated in any way, please PLEASE picture saying those words or doing those actions to someone you love. You wouldn't do that right? Don't let it go on. Record everything and get the hell out of there. It's so hard to leave but you deserve so much better. If anyone sees this and needs advice or to confide in someone, please call your local DV hotline and shelter. We're here to listen and help.

He is a scrawny little weasel and he knows it. Treating his girlfriend like that behind closed doors is him trying to make himself feel big and tough and soothe himself. He deserves to get the shit kicked out of him but that'd be stooping down to his level. That being said, it really seems like her friends failed her also. If a friend of mine is calling me telling me their significant other hit them/is abusing them I'd sure as hell do anything in my power to stop them from going back over there. Yes in abusive relationships the abuser completely destroys your self esteem and messed with your head until you cannot see how bad it truly is. Thats when its time for friends, who can see through it all, to step in. I understand her friends couldn't force her to not go back but when it happens time and time and time again you just have to find a way.

Honestly, if she was on antidepressants at the time, it seems very possible that her memory was affected, and this could mean that she had a rough idea of what she felt, but mixed memories on what had actually happened. Either way, I sincerely think that we need to give teens grace and believe that they can be better people. Otherwise they would have no reason to try and become better into adulthood.

I t really was. I was completely swept up in that time of KZbin and looking back at it, I think it's a time where the collective subconscious of the internet split over. The super edgy humour, the constant punching down on those who were never going to be famous whilst farming them for all their adsense worth has left a bad taste in me. It may have been funny to my teenage self, but a good chunk of the content relied solely on bullying or use of slurs to carry the humour. To this day though, there was something far more raw about the content back then and whilst KZbin is far more sanitised now (for better or for worse) I don't desire for return to those yesteryears again.
