It's one of mine as well, but hardly anyone seems to know it not even a lot of ABB fans. I saw the band when they were touring on this album, and I fell in love with this song the first time I ever heard it. I sometimes harmonize with Dickey when I'm playing Seven Turns in my car, although sometimes I also sing with Gregg near the end of the song. ❤️
@bethwright85958 ай бұрын
@@chantalferrara7114Check out the Allman Betts band led by Gregg's son Devon Allman and Dickey's son Duane Betts. Each of them also has their own band, as Berry Duane Oakley, who played with them originally but seems floated away. And every year in recent years they do a tour called the Allman Family Revival, which features lots of other great musicians - enough to stretch across the entire stage for the finale - playing the Allman Brothers Band's catalog. I can't say whether they'll do it again this year but I went to the last one in Macon and it was unforgettable! I sometimes fondly refer to The Allman Betts Band as ABB v.2! They started out doing mostly their fathers' songs, and they still do some of them, but they have several albums out and they're great. I can see their songwriting and performance dynamics improving each time I see them. For example, at the most recent show I've seen, they did a version of In Memory of Elizabeth Reed which was a highly improvisational jam of their own yet still faithful to the original version. ❤

Gonna be such a tragedy when we finally lose Dickey. Not looking forward to that. 😔 Thank God his son Duane is carrying on the legacy...and I guess we could thank Dickey for having a son that looks *EXACTLY* like him when he was around that age. He even plays like Dickey lol. But I'd expect it since his daddy is his favorite guitarist. 😎👍❤️ And unlike the Earnhardts in NASCAR, I'm sure Dickey taught Duane to play, and likely played with him often where Earnhardt Sr didn't teach Jr to race and they never talked about it really.

I've spent the last couple hours listening to ABB tunes on my laptop. This song is probably my absolute favorite that he wrote. I've been a fan since the late 70's and had only one opportunity to see them in the late 80's. The music world has lost one of the greatest legends of all time. My only solace is that Dickie has rejoined his lost brothers Duane, Greg, Barry, and Butch in heaven. My condolences go out to his family and band mates. Keep rocking in heaven brother!

What a great comment Ron. If ever there was justice due, it is on this topic, and to these people. Many heritages have been persecuted worldwide, but these persecutions pale in comparison to what the Native people of North and South America went through. I've made it a goal to read everything I can on this subject. A great lesson is a book titled "The American Holocaust". At about halfway through it, I had to put it down for about 6 months because the graphic nature of the pain these people endured was beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I often wonder about when the chickens will come home to roost. In other words, how long can one hide the truth, and how long can a nation last if it was founded upon genocide? So much lost knowledge. Best to you and your family. Rob

Hoserintraining Yup That’s what we are trying to do to this day. We are a forgotten people that Europeans tried to wipe off this Earth. But we’re still here. My father is the fancy dancer in this video, the one in red. Because of how he raised my siblings and I, we are the next generation to keep our ways alive. For myself, I’m a teacher. I teach the youth our native language and culture in public high schools. I love my people, as I love this earth. Because of that, I advocate for change and for the truth to be told. It’s just natural, it is how I was raised. Honor and pride.

Same as you said, clean and sober then, but still paying the price with Hepatitis-C, it's what killed him in the end. And/Or related problems. Duane my favorite but little brother got great on his own right and stayed in the limelight for over 4 decades. RIP Dickey may be a spun jerk or whatever, but he sure af killin' it here! I go back to "Brothers and Sisters" and the Fillmore East stuff. Duane before that as Studio Musician, "Layla" with E.C. Somebodies calling your name as I Love that lyric in this song! I lost my Mother 44 years ago in an automobile accident when I was a freshman in College and I always feel her calling my name from time to time. I've made so many turns on my highway over the many years as this Song always hits home to me. Many were good turns others were not so good at all! and that's why this song always hits home and there's No telling where my journey lies as I always believe this is what this song is about. The older I get the more it hits home as I've lost 6 older brothers and sisters also along my journey! Maybe I'm wrong, but I always believe that's what this song is about.

Always loved Dickey. Gregg's biography paints quite an unfavorable picture of him, but their music stands the test of time

@@paulabrush3517 It happens to many bands that stay together for many decades. This video is AMAZING. Best band ever, and I'm glad to have heard that Gregg and Richard came together before Greg's passing.. RIP Gregg; brother Sky Dog is with you now😎✌🍄

Amen Brother, Amen! I will listen to this music till i die and i am going to make my surviving family and friends listen to it one more time at my funeral. I also told my kids to bury my ipod with almost 8 thousand great old songs along with 4 thousand videos and a pack of rechargable batteries with me in my casket.

Even though this song came along after the height of their popularity , I still think it is one of their best. Dickie Betts is a helluva Songwriter. Not to mention his singing and guitar playing ( lol ) True greatness !
