The King Curtis LIVE AT FILLMORE WEST is spectacular. But that's half the story. He was the leader and music director for Aretha Franklin's companion album, LIVE AT THE FILLMORE WEST. Billy Preston on the mighty Hammond, and such a magnificent band behind Aretha. AND....she brings out Ray Charles.... ahhhhhh

No doubt about it, the Allman Brothers were the best live band for me in the period from 69 to 74. I still think the Fillmore East is the Best Live Album I ever heard, I thought that was when they were at their peak. I always wondered if they ever jammed with Santana during the period Duane was still alive. That rhythm section for both bands was awesome. Listen to Jungle Strut on Santana 3, without knowing who it was you could easily changed names on the bands at that time.
@ryanzembik89577 жыл бұрын
I think the ABB is certainly up there for live performances. Some of their performances live are perfection and pure genius. However, nobody can top Jimi Hendrix when he was at his peak in terms of live performances. So many iconic performances and some of his best aren't even well known, like his live versions of Tax Free at Winterland or Stone Free at Fillmore East.
