Normalcy bias, or normality bias, is a cognitive bias which leads people to disbelieve or minimize threat warnings. Consequently, individuals underestimate the likelihood of a disaster, when it might affect them, and its potential adverse effects. The normalcy bias causes many people to not adequately prepare for natural disasters, pandemics, and calamities caused by human error. About 70% of people reportedly display normalcy bias during a disaster.

Just because that guy passed a polygraph means absolutely nothing. He’s a sociopath. Which means he could easily pass a polygraph even tho he could’ve been 100% guilty.
@gokuss154 жыл бұрын
You can beat a polygraph by strategically puckering your butthole. I’m not even joking, the test basically measures stress response, if you simulate the biological signs of fear when telling the truth for the baseline questions they won’t record any discrepancies when you lie.

Lie detectors are complete bogus. They are wildly inaccurate and can not be used as proof of guilt. I think I've heard somewhere that they were used to bluff trying to make people confess though. Not sure if that's true or not.
@caspersrealwizard5254 жыл бұрын
Artrysa the detector on its own is useless. It needs to be paired with someone who also knows how to detect dishonesty through movements, facial expressions, and word choices. Yes they CAN be inaccurate. But I’ve heard the opposite and I have family thats worked in criminal justice for years. What I was saying is that a sociopath, which most serial killers are, can EASILY defeat a polygraph, as well as a body language expert. Because they’re emotionally detached from the bad things they’ve done. Their brain does the same thing when it sees “love” as it does when it sees “hate”. There’s no differentiation to the sociopath. His heart and brain show no difference between seeing newborn kittens, and seeing a suicide victim. So they’re very capable of seeming extremely normal.

Govind Goyal I think your theory is valid and I think people don’t realize that it’s possible that these people might’ve worked in a Ring of pedophiles that may have planned to do things all in a similar way so that it would be harder to find the right killer out of all the potential suspects. For example with the cat hair, maybe the “boss“ owned a white cat and that cat hair would get all over these men before they would go out and do these horrible things.

I'm betting it was different killers in every case, but perhaps the second and third killers went on to kill others as was mentioned. It's not like white cats are unique and considering the possible link between toxoplasmosis and impulse control and the fact that there was far more environmental lead pollution back then it makes me wonder. Didn't the one rapist work in a garage? As for the other similarities between the girls and their deaths those similarities are not unique to them. Poorer children who's parents weren't very attentive or concerned with their whereabouts are prime fodder for child predators. Dumped on the side of the road after being choked or bludgeoned to death? Classic move by an unorganized killer. The human mind wants to see patterns even when there aren't patterns at all. The crossword with the names of the D-Day beachheads a few weeks before it happened was either an Nazi intelligence operation, a coincidence or a psychic episode, and I'm pretty sure it wasn't the first or last, but US intelligence had to be sure it wasn't the former.

Like, dude, if you feel bad about calling or aren’t sure it’s an emergency or don’t want to take up a line from someone with an active emergency that can be helped, call non emergency??? In most areas it goes to the same center anyways, it just gets lower priority if the line is busy. If you see something that strikes you funny, say something. Call non-emergency, or take notes and pictures and bring them to the police station in person. Worst case scenario is you waste the time of some random desk cop

Great as always!!! Could you make biography about Djordje Petrović, Serbian leader in liberating from Ottoman oppression which lasted for almost 500 years.

Those people who watched Carmen run and did nothing are more monstrous than the killer. Absolutely disgusting

More monstrous??? Maybe callous and complicit. Not monstrous. They didn't commit the crime.

You think the serial killer is less of a monster than the people who didn’t report a crime? That’s a pretty insane thought process

Michael Benson, who wrote a recent book about this case, gave an interview with A&E in early 2020 with lots of significant details found in his own research. It's pretty apparent Carmen's murder was from a separate individual. There were differences in how she was killed compared to the others. There also might have been two men involved in hers, while it's clear the same individual is responsible for both Wanda and Michelle.

I'm so glad that you are doing serial killers that are not known as well. I am over all of the ones that you named in the beginning of the video.

I worked in Rochester in the emergency services, a rumor I heard on the job (and comment on other videos on this topic) was that a city firefighter had committed suicide during an attack on someone with matching first and last initials. After his death there were no other alphabet murders. However given his city employment RPD covered up any thing. Who knows but odd.

How heartbreaking and frustrating for these families to have so many leads and little pieces of evidence that lead nowhere 😔 I always find true crime stories very interesting, but ones that involve kids really break me now I’m a parent 😢

How about a biographics on Dr. Jose P. Rizal who famously quoted the line “the pen is mightier than the sword” to which General Douglas McArthur made fun of after years his death

My family lives in Rochester and my aunt had the same initials, my family was very scared at the time. It’s so sad these poor kids were killed and it’s crazy the person was never found. I bet he went to prison for a different crime and that’s why the murders stopped.

I remember watching a TV show episode when I was like 8 about the alphabet killings and since then I've actually wondered if I imagined it, because the idea of someone targeting people based on matching initials and putting bodies in towns with the same letters seemed impossible

Something weird I just read, one of the victims in these alphabet murders name was Carmen Colon and the killer Joseph Naso, who did the Alphabet murders in California, killed a woman named Carmen Colon.

They cleared Naso of these murders via DNA. Just crazy crazy coincidence.

Yet another awesome video! You should do a biographics video on former Louisiana Governor Huey Long. He's hands down one of the most interesting politicians in American history. His governorship is often a controversial one as he acted a lot like a dictator. In fact he was often known as the "Dictator of Louisiana." But even so, he still did a lot of good for Louisiana during his time in office before his assassination in 1935.

Just a random suggestion....hard to argue there’s ever been a more important or consequential person in modern history...and most of us have probably never even heard of him...stanislav petrov Every human alive should know his name, and the story behind his ridiculously consequential decision...it’s kind of perplexing how that’s not the case

I think we get "glued" to those stories in order to learn how to avoid or identify those dangerous killers. And I think that is genetic we want for that reason to know all the gory details.
